Only one comedy anime has ever made me laugh and that was Baka to Test in 6th grade, if I watched it now I'd probably think it's retarded.

Really depends on the anime. Some only get a few giggles and smirks out of me while others have me pausing and rewinding because I was laughing so hard that I missed dialogue.

Harem anime almost always provide me with the lulz.

Watching comedy anime with friends makes me laugh out loud almost the whole time. By myself? Maybe not as much, but they're still funny to me at least.

Depends really... Idk how many fall off the chair like I do when looking at Detroit Metal City.

Slice of life is usually where the good comedy is but there's a fine line between funny and stupid.

Also, why is everyone picking on the op?

The jokes are funnier if you can understand them, by that I don't just mean cultural references but things as subtle as the word-order can make or break a punchline which would fail completely if you were relying on the subtitles alone.

Baka to Test
Gintama
Seto no Hanayome

Pretty damn funny if you ask me.

Gintama I find pretty good, Detroit Metal City I had a blast watching.

So for the most part yes, Cromartie High had me in shackles too.

Baka and Test
School Rumble
Sgt. Frog
Full Metal Panic

I enjoy the comedy and the above series are my favorite. Even in series that aren't comedies you can get characters like Isaac and Miria from Baccano! who are absolutely hilarious.

@Op. Maybe its the Language and Culture Barrier.

Since Japanese and Asian nations have a different sense of Humour, Usually meaning how jokes and gags are set up.

Personally I find Comedy to be hilarious. Some mild some decent, and some having me laughing so hard it leaves me breathless, others leaving me unable to stop laughing.

It really depends on which series. For example, MM!, Seitokai no Ichizon, Milky Holmes were all funny for my taste, while Toradora I only found funny in the first few episodes, then I became tired of the humor. Don't know why or how, though.

Toradora was more drama for me. But Yeah the others you mentioned are funny.

Anime comedies making anime reference jokes, pretty much hit the spot for me.

Yup. Toradora was such a fail when it was trying to be funny. That random side character dumbass blue haired guy was so fucking annoying.

Yes, but I personally don't enjoy watching comedy anime. I like more serious stuff, or something which action. I generally prefer comedic elements be kept to a bare minimum.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou has great comedy, because it shows how people would really act in real life situations. The same with NHK ni Youkoso!

I can't even imagine how many people can relate to this scene:

We find different things funny, japan doesn't make comedy anime for u.s., they make it for themselves and we happen to watch it. Some happen to be quite funny, such as Cromartie and DMC, but others are just not what we find funny. But I watch comedy anime for the same reason I watch any other anime: to find something I like

Heres a question, will you ever stop making ridiculous threads? Why do you think there are comedy anime is no one thinks it's funny? Comedy is a subjective thing though, for example even though everyone seems to love Gintama I don't find it funny at all, but stuff like Detroit Metal City and Golden Boy I find hilarious. I think you need to try more stuff, before you say every anime is unfunny to you.

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that the OP is asking an honest question, however, this entire thread derailed pretty fast and it doesn't look like removing these posts could recover the thread in any way.
