Okay I know that this movie was made in 83 and had horrendous CGI...but that was a pretty damn good movie.

God damn, this was so fucking cool.
The CGI helicopter was really dated, but other than that, the movie had a ton of style and really great visual directing.
The soundtrack was also awesome, sounding just like you'd expect from a cool 80's action flick.

Lol, that guy hired Golgo to kill him, but he shouldn't have done it in front of his daughter and wife.

Here you have a killer for hire and somehow he wasn't the most fucked up man in this story. Son decided to commit suicide by hired killer on his father's birthday in front of his wife and daughter only for his father to one-up him by turning his granddaughter into a killer and "gifts" his daughter-in-law to be raped by some lunatic all the while knowing that his son killed himself.

Liked the first third better than the last two thirds with the introduction of Snake and crazy dad.

Not sure who thought it was a good idea to use that level of CGI.

Wow, I didn't expect this to be so awesome - a new favorite. Sound, character design, set design, color, story, direction was all top notch.

Golgo was super likable. I didn't expect to say that, but he has honor and an element of morality perhaps? The dad was terrible of course. The son was tragic. That snake guy was super creepy. I felt so bad for Rita. Damn.

I honestly didn't see any issues with the cgi helicopter scene. It looks more realistic than anything I've ever seen.

The CG opening sequence may be the worst looking garbage I've ever seen in anime.

Also the plot was retarded - the CIA and Pentagon can't kill him, so while I wait for the two most dangerous assassins and some rapey snake guy to kill him, why not try a 5 year old?

Stunning art direction thanks to Osamu Dezaki & Shichiro Kobayashi, but feels extremely dated and basic plot wise tbh.

Low 7/10.

Apparently putting a grenade in someone's mouth leaves the head intact.

The aesthetics of the movie though...just wow. Every frame is so cool. Some shots of Dawson's HQ resemble Gendo's office in Eva (except that it came a lot later). And without even knowing it I apparently watched the first (or one of?) anime to use CGI (which wasn't very fitting - judging by how other scenes were handled, the helicopters could've perfectly be hand-drawn). Well, there were also those skeletons.

Despite the plot being "generic", the execution was just top notch. Would've been nicer without Snake, Gold and Silver having borderline superhuman abilities (and strange screams/aesthetics). A bit of subversion of the genre tropes would've been welcome too. Still, none are major complaints.

That ending though...

P.S. the shape of the pool at the beginning was just perfect

The only thing that you need to know about Golgo 13 is that he wears his sun glasses at night. He is that cool ....

Excellent hard boiled movie with some extreme battles. My favorite was the last bad guy bouncing on the pavement.

Just remember to wear your sunglasses at night if you want to be like Golgo 13. 7/10

Sick movie, stunning animation, some of the best Ives seen and great subtle story telling such as him loading only a single bullet or not killing the lighthouse keeper, only knocking him out.

Lot of people are complaining about the helicopter scene which graphics do not hold up by today’s standards but were a giant leap for the industry at the time that this film bravely did.

Really excellent action scenes, classic 80s anime with excellent soundtrack. The CGI was kind of funny though lmao but its amazing given it's from the 80s

Golgo 13: The Professional. Hmmm.... he was very relentlessly professional indeed no other words about it. Had meek storyline, so they had no choice than take freedom of seinen steamy scenes, plethora of titty shots, including the formulaic r**e scene as well. But, the only thing which was good is the OST.

An overall 6/10 anime. (4 for story and 2 for OST). The only saving grace is OST and Toga Duke. Remaining everything are worth to be sent to hell.

underwhelming film, plot is dumb & dezaki overabused too many harmony cels which made it look all so static. Well drawn but poorly directed + lacking in animation. ALSSSSOOOO HAPPENS TO HAVE A DOGSHIT CGI HELICOPTER WTTFFF, & the whole sequence is like over 2mins of whole TRASH CGI like hoooooooow?!?!

That was very old school Hollywood lol, cool little twist at the end with Dawson's son hiring Golgo 13 himself. Looks like the ran out of budget in the last 10 or so minutes though, that helicopter scene was the probably the worst animated scene I've laid eyes on.

7/10, was pretty nonsensical and fun.

A lot of people ragging on the CGI and don't realize it was made in 1983 when no one would have complained about it then. Seriously, we thought CGI cutscenes in PS1 games in the mid-90's were awesome and it wasn't much better than this. I liked it because it adds something cool to a movie that's already dripping in style.

The OP is so trippy. I like it—good old 1980s.
Like in the TV series, any girl sexually involved with Golgo has a 99% chance of dying. Haha
That was a splendid r*pe scene! Laura is a hot MILF! No wonder Snake is obsessed with her. I want to screw her and eat her as well!
Laura is smart. It's foolish of Leonard to chase after the tool instead of the client.

I like how Golgo isn't invincible as compared to the TV series. He got shot and stabbed during a fight. He struggled against his opponents since they were superhuman like him. In the TV series, 99% of the time, his opponents die before they can seriously damage him, and they are all normal people.

Seeing Golgo in an overarching story with a cool twist is refreshing. His opponents were interesting. I wish the TV series were like this.

Stylish and has a great soundtrack. It's a classic, but man it is such a product of its time. Sonny Chiba was a great pick in the live adaption, although the movies weren't that good.
