just read the manga conclusion .....i would have liked to see the hammer -_-

EDIT

although i can easily see them animating it in a dvd extra or a short ova...

there are two version of the ending
the prepublication one and the graphic novel one:
3rd World Deus does not appear in the graphic novel ending (but in prepublication ending) and does not offers Yuno and Yuuki the chance to succed him in the 3rd world...

the prepublication ending resolve the plot point of 3rd World's destiny but not the new graphic novel ending ...

why changing the ending for the graphic novel i don't know...

the anime doesn't choose one ending (prepublication) or another (graphic novel) they are inded the same but does resolves the plot point of 3rd World deus 's successor in one and does not in another...

Good adaptation, I prefer the manga, though. You simply can't read all the diary entries, they pop up for only 1-2 seconds.
I really wonder why they omitted the last pages, there is no other reason than in expanding it for an OVA and making money. I still haven't read Paradox and Mosaic but I guessed one of them would be the next project.

WTF where's my HAMMER?? If only they make it a few more seconds longer in the end... I hope the "next Project" is an ova the continuation of the ending. I'm really disappointed that they didn't show the two of them reunited. I have read the manga, but I want to see the part where they are reunited being animated... And of course... the HAMMER!!!!

I thought I would give this series 8/10, but because there's no HAMMER ending I'll give it 6/10...

If I ever write a novel, I would definitely name one of the characters Deus Ex Machina so whenever I'm stuck, I'll just do an asspull because hey, he's Deus Ex Machina!

Still, I liked the series overall. 9/10.

Pick up the manga from the last scene in the anime, manga continues a bit and gives a better conclusion.

Paradox and Mosaic are spin-offs with Akise and Uryuu as main characters.

Mirai Nikki is a funny case really. There are a lot of things to dislike about it. Too many coincidences, too much plot armor for the main characters, a lot of twists that make no sense upon close inspection. Honestly storytelling wise Mirai Nikki is a mess. However, a strange thing happens with this anime a charming, quirky and often disturbed cast elevates everything about this series. Without this cast Mirai Nikki would just be another poorly concieved story that gets lost in the sea of shit anime.

The best thing is the anime fixes some of the problems of manga but it also accentuates some of the others. First and fore most the characterization is so much better in the anime. The omake skits at the end are well used to give some insight into the characters but the anime goes beyond and adds to some of the diary holders' stories to actually give them some development beyond their basic characterization allowing us to feel some sympathy for them usually before they meet their Dead End.

If we're talking Mirai Nikki, anime or manga, it's all about Yuno Gasai. She is a whirlwind of death and destruction, wrapped up in a crazy yandere package. Yet if that's all there was to her then she wouldn't be so compelling. However, Yuno is a much more complex character to that. With her past revealed we find a twisted insane girl but one that is that way for a reason. Her love for Yuki starts out a bit generic and bland but it actually grows and develops over time. The relationship is always volitle but her feelings for Yuki at the end are clearly not the same as they were in the beginning.

Yukii is often the center of a lot of criticism and it's not all unwarrented but he is necessary to make Yuno shine. Without Yukii there could be no Yuno. She needs him to play off of. That's not to say Yuki is a good character. A lot of the time he refuses to develop in any meaningful way and even when he does he usually reverts back to his old useless self very soon. I do give him some points for stepping up in a couple of cases such as saving Yuno when fighting 6th. However, the series wouldn't have been nearly as bloody if Yuki had learned his lesson and manned up earlier. By the end the body count that was racked up because of his failures is huge. In the end I think Yuki does learn his lesson as his sends himself into exile refusing to create anything new. I think he locks himself in this prison as his way of atonement. I'm not sure it's the clearest here but that's how I read the ending.

However one thing the anime doesn't fix is the ending. It's overly complicated and convoluted there's no reason that things had to get this complicated.
[2:01:47 PM] MariusthePerformer: All it does it bog down the narriative and take the spotlight off the characters which is a bad thing. The last two episodes have a lot of character drama however there is so much other crap going on it's hard to focus on all of it. This a a pretty good case of bigger is not always better and if you're going to write a bloody violent story don't create alterante worlds so you can undo all the violence at the end and give all the characters happy lives. This was a dark and bloody story and there was no need to go back and change everything in third world. It would have been enough to focus on the psychological and dramatic ending between Yuno and Yuki. After all this anime has been about them so it should focus on them at the end. Instead it gives the spot light to too many of it's characters as it plays out it's convoluted plotting.

Overall it's hard for me not to like Mirai Nikki despite all of it's flaws. The characters are fun and if I turn down my logic a little I can even enjoy all of the ridiculous twists and turns this anime has to offer. Mirai Nikki is an anime where it is saved by it virtues because they heavily outweight it's numerous flaws.

3 out of 5 for the last episode

7 out of 10 for the series

So they actually omitted the hammer, huh? I think it's ironic how basically everyone hated that in the manga and wanted an original ending when the anime started. Now that they DID change it suddenly everyone wanted to see it? You people are strange...

Anyway, this show is pretty damn stupid but also pretty entertaining. Started off great but went downhill pretty fast and the final couple of episodes were pretty messy. Overall a subpar adaption, that's why I give it one point less then the manga: 6/10

Because Deus said that he had to find another way to choose the new god for the 3rd world after the mayor (11th?) told him (always in the 3rd world) about the future of the survival game.

No freaking idea how this show is pulling off a mid 8 on here.

After that OVA aired so long ago I was very excited for the TV series but unfortunately this series fell very flat for me. Far too many lows than highs which pains me to say.

Edit: and now after reading the last chapter of the manga I do to wish for the hammer lol. Although it makes no sense...I would of preferred that ending. However, they kinda hinted that a hammer like event was going to take place given Yuno calling out to Yuki in the final scene and the diary changing. I don't see the need to make an OVA or anything since that is what that part pretty much trying to get across imo.

I liked the ending a lot, although 3rd world Yuuno and Yukki not being together was a let down but they're at least happy. (But I dislike his crush, they don't fit together IMO, she looks too much like his mom... that's nearly as bad as Shinji/Rei.) 2nd world Yukki being all alone was kinda sad (and lol at Murmur complaining about boredom XD), so I was glad when Yuuno showed up. Although, if she showed up with a hammer smashing "world" that would SUCK big time. I would drop my rating just for that. It's plain ridiculous! 5/5 for the ep.

8/10 for some inconsistencies and making Yuuno unbeatable

I wonder what that "Next Project" will be.

Can I curbstomp Yukiteru yet? Such a terrible character there. I would've preferred if they completely omitted the "Hammer" scene so it'll leave Yukiteru in his own little depressing space so he can wallow in despair forever since he's just fucking retarded.

7/10 for the anime, just like I gave the manga. Interesting premise marred by god awful characters, namely Yukiteru. Not really looking forward to whatever this "next project" is, but I guess I'll check it out. Probably some kind of OVA for the epilogue.

We needed the hammer! I want the hammer! Hammer time please!!!

Now that I've stopped whining, it's time for a few serious comments. I think the hammer and an appearance by Deus would have been the perfect troll ending--a true Deus ex machina. (God descends from a machine to resolve what looks to be an inescapable bad ending and the entire cast bows for the audience--it worked for Renaissance and Classical audiences, it would work for most otakus.) We did get 90% of one with only the two main characters ("and me...don't forget about me!" says Murmur 2) having a bad end.

My second comment is: even with the manga ending this is still a tragedy for my darling Yuno. Yuno 3, even with Yuno 1's memories is still not the Yuno who won my heart. (...spurious discussion of Reicher 1 vs 2 from Star Trek TNG eliminated here...) Nor will she have the same level of obsessive yandere love towards Yuki that was so much of her charm. In the end, Yuki did very little. It was Yuno's decision to kill herself that resolved the plot--as was the case through most of the series. Even in the hammer ending, it is Yuno who wields the hammer...

And that being said, aren't we much happier if we view this series from the perspective of Yuno being the main character, rather than Yuki?
Please don't feed the trolls!

isn't because in the third world the game don't started?
or..... nah, i don't now

Third Deus hasn't died yet thus the apocalypse hasn't started. And since he is now aware of what went down in the other worlds, he realized he needed to devise a new way to name a successor.

Well, overall I like the new ending, but I have a few mixed feelings. I'd just like to point out a few things.

1. 1st Yuno x 3rd Yuno. In the original manga, *this* is the point she breaks down. And oh boy, does she break down completely! About the anime, I liked how 2nd Yuno looked so innocent on that scene, but she's not well-animated. I wish the two of them would have a longer conversation, and one would recognize the other. Also, c'mon. You see a stranger that just looks like you and wants to kill you. Won't you at least think it's a doppel, or an evil brother, or something?

2. I'm not sure you have noticed, but in the manga, it is implied the world is destroyed because Yukki does nothing and simply lets it die. In the anime, his declaration as the winner stops the destruction, as you can clearly see – but 10,000 years in the future, the world is reduced to nothing. I think this hints that mankind killed itself in the anime between this timespan.

3. I'm glad they got rid of the hammer ending, and just hinted at it in the end. But couldn't they change this very part? You see, Deus is able to create an artificial human being and to insert memories and his will into it (Akise, remember?) So, why not leave 3rd world Yuno alone and let Deus create an artificial 1st Yuno with her memories prior to her death? Since he can imbue his own will into her, he could have easily have told her the survival game was over, and make her meet Yukki. And Yukki wouldn't need to know she was artificial. Ignorance is bliss. :)
