| I feel that many of my favorite VNs wouldn't be complete without the porn, yet are mostly story-driven. Hell, even Rance, which is 20% sex and 80% rape has an interesting plot. Hentai videos often mix it up and it's also much easier to get the suspension of disbelief going, so stories there not only work out, they actually improve the video and make the shows superior to normal porn (part of it is the effort I guess, since it's much costlier to make hentai than to just hire porn actors, it has to be better). Now, for meatspace videos, I don't care about the story. The ones that do actually try to make some background crack me up usually. @obbsworld I actually saw a porn parody years ago and I'm still passively looking for it. So yeah, some meatspace videos do have worth beyond sating the urge, but those are sadly really rare. |

With manga you can skip pages or read at any pace. Videos are not the same. | The only porn with a decent story is a visual novel. Even then they usually don't need it, A few do like Futaba Channel due to the premise of the plot, MC wishes to be a young girl for perverted reasons and accidentally ends up one. While I don't really approve of porn in VNs unless it's contributes to the concept or plot, I warm up a lot when there are lolis are involved. As for porn movies seen quite a few, none of them did any justice for anything but the obvious if even that. They aren't that good. |

| It all comes down to personal preferences in the end. I personally believer watching it solely for the story is a waste of time and you'd be better off watching an actual movie, but at the same time, if I'm watching a hentai or something( I don't watch a whole lot of "real" porn, haven't watched any in 2+ years) I'd prefer that it has at least some scenarios that make sense. And if it doesn't, the sex scenes better be pretty damn good >_> But then again, that all comes down to personal preference, as I mentioned earlier. I'll watch anything with a good story. Hell, even with all that being said, I'm not a big fan of hentai, but one of my favorite animes of all time is one(called Luv Wave, I'd definitely recommend) because even though the sex scenes aren't anywhere near the best I've seen(not to mention it's almost painful to watch the last episode in the English dub, because one of the MCs voice sounds completely out of character), it has an amazingly solid story by hentai standards, and a pretty good even by regular ones. I don't know. I wasn't really alive when porn was rare. Right about the time I was able of using computers was around the time porn had been easily accessible for a few years.
