Munch's Skrik (The Scream) is heavily influenced by the time and circumstances it was created in. Munch made an entry into his diary close to the creation of The Scream which pretty neatly displays the feelings he probably put into the painting: "I was walking down a street with two friends, the sun was setting - I felt a gloomy breeze - the sky suddenly turned blood-red. I stopped and rested against a fence, dead tired - saw the flaming clouds like blood and swords - the blackish blue fjord and the town - my friends advanced - I stood there shaking with fear - and I felt how a long scream coursed through nature." When he wrote this he was living in an environment that was influenced by something called the fin de siècle (the end of the century) at the end of the 19th century. It was for one a time of great decadence but also great desperation, because nobody knew what the next century would bring. Interestingly the setting of Another is 1998, the end of the 20th century. In Japan there was something called the seikimatsu-kan (the feeling of the end of the century)...so it quite interestingly mirrors what happened a 100 years earlier in the West. |

| Still as atmospheric as ever. The director did a really good job with this. I'm just guessing Mei's other eye is going to be a different colour. I doubt they would put a big hole there or something of the sort. |

| Another creepy episode with a creep cliffhanger. The atmosphere and the soundtrack gets me. Something is telling me that her other eye that was patched has a different color than the other one that is green. Decent episode overall. Our main character is a stalker as well. Adds to the creep. |

| I'm liking this so far but I'm not finding it at all scary. Although maybe it's just that I don't find dolls creepy? Seeing as I own ball-jointed dolls myself. But from how so many people are saying the dolls were creepy, I'm now wondering if people get creeped out when they walk into my bedroom... XD |

Moreover what we know so far is that this fear got mixed in with a spiritual grudge around. Making things easier for what with coined term " seikimatsu-kan" That itself may explain of why did not anyone leave except for a few. The other things that bothers me is why is this village not exorcized? Could it be that superstitions of the " seikimatsu-kan" even made priests shiver to be in their temples? | A few things come to mind when watching this. 1) The whole talk with the Doll Shop lady makes it sound like they sell other things there besides Dolls. The only things that comes to mind are human organs or maybe young girls, considering it'd be pretty easy to hide them there. 2) Mei being dead or not really doesn't interest me right now. The fact that everyone else in the series seems dead except for a select few, however does interest me. 3) The fact that the main character's dad has had two collapsed lungs and talks as if it was nothing makes me wonder about a lot of things. The classroom is "cursed" yet no one seems to have died or gone missing. Misaki being the only question mark so far. 4) Why is it important to know if the main character grew up in the town? If a "curse" is involved with the class then wouldn't that mean he'd be cursed regardless of where he grew up? Anyway I'm digging the story. The pace is perfect and the story, so far, is interesting. |

| It's annoying how Sakakibara's classmates are hiding something important from him. He needs to know. Come on .__. Seeing Misaki in that shop gave me the chills. Especially since the shop-owner/keeper said, "I have no other customers." And I like how the dolls appear in the transitions. They add to the creepiness. @_@ |

| So I see a lot of posts about the meanings behind the actions and things made for the last two episodes. I can't exactly comprehend why most of the fans here are really hooked onto this. The pacing is alright, but the characters are just too un-revealing (well, it's only ep 2 anyway). People who are in Class 3 are just overall depressed by the way you would look at them, but I'm pretty sure it'll be explainable throughout the series as it progresses. One comment I would like to make is how amplifying the creep music isn't really creeping me out. It's just annoying as hell... |

I love the animation style... i don't know if it's the backgrounds or colors used or what but for some reason this show looks amazing on my TV when watched at 720p! Even the intro seems so slick! |
