THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Rie just watched Kazuma beaten up in front of her by a maniac and she's like "Ok, do crazy shit to me too! I'm sure I can save the Kifuuken that you're obviously raping up the bum. Yep, go for it!"

Weak writing. This series started off so strong but now it's full of generic storylines and characters are acting illogically. Such a shame.

Perhaps it's just me, but this episode felt somewhat more LSD-induced than the previous ones.

Well, I agree that the series feel a little weaker now, but I'll keep watching until the end. Now I want to know how this is going to end.

Well I was right on one thing that that weird looking dude had something to do with the huge rate in flesh eaters that were recently appearing. Lets see what's next!

Something tells me that Rie is going to die soon . . . I have a hard time believing that Ooba actually intends to do Rie a favor w/o asking for something in return. Also Kazuma is probably going to commit suicide or go berserk, although my money is on the latter . . .

wtf people. this was the BEST episode so far. Nakamura Kenji's episode. Visually phenomenal. So many amazing shots. Nakamura also seemed to disregard time and space; Ooba was everywhere, and the effect it had was terrifying. It raised the series up a notch.

This show has some of the best character writing I've encountered in anime. Every single character is deeply flawed, so very very human. Rie is no different. Clearly she reached wits end. The recurring shots of dinner at the kifuuken base? Rie always at the end, and slowly everyone left her. Kazuma was never there to support her. She's spent the entire show being neglected by everyone around her, pushed to the sidelines, "you're a woman", etc. it would make sense for her to want to take something into her own hands, no? something this drastic seems perfectly in line with her character at this point in time.

her decision at the end made complete sense, especially if we view Ooba as more of a symbol or concept than a person - which is what he was being pushed as in this episode.

I didn't think it was a bad episode but I prefer the first half of the show.

I just feel like I don't like what path the show went down. It's so dark? Or maybe gloomy would be a better word. Idk.

These last few episodes have just made me feel bottomless pit of pity and sadness for these characters. That's what they're going for and they're doing a good job at it. Too good of a job.

Ooba being arm monster surprised me.

Why didn't Toshihiko go back to the car and get Yuka after he was clubbed? She was right there in the car and he knew it. Did he just think that Ooba would stop him again? I guess now he's doing a two-in-one rescuing Yuka and kiling Ooba.

I don't get the hate for this episode, I thought it was excellent. Nakamura is the best director working on this after Yuasa and it definitely shows.

I still think the show was at its strongest in the beginning but this was the best episode in a while.

That was an interesting episode to say the least. Ooba is turning into a larger than life character, I think he's a fascinating villain.

Rie's not as dumb as people are making her out to be here; I think she genuinely believes that the only way to take down Ooba is to try and become a half-demon. Clearly Ooba benefits from this in some way (probably just wants to experiment more, or break Kazuma further), but Rie is prepared to make the gamble.

I mean, in spite of saying all that, I still feel like it will end badly for her. But I can see that her decision isn't completely illogical.

I really want to know where Ooba got the arns, along with the giant guy. Did Ooba perform the OG kemonozume or is this a product of his "perfection" of the technique? I guess we will see when Rie gets her new arms.

This was interesting and I actually enjoyed Ooba in this episode. Hope they give us some insight on his experiments.

Significantly better ep. Probably the best one yet. The composition in those shots were beautiful, very experimental and trippy ep. People calling this a weak episode are just wrong. Although the story and the way its progressing isn't very new and is in fact somewhat cliche, the wonderful experimental execution and direction makes me love it.

I'm just going to ignore whatever the fuck episode 7 and 8 was...

Uh Ooba continuing to trick everyone and even taking the Dojo for himself while they're falling into his trap and becoming infected, not sure how they'll resolved it but I wonder what's Ooba's goal except from total chaos
