Novel author Yamaguchi Noboru posted in his twitter that he will be hospitalized tomorrow and will take a major surgery in August. He said he would have been dead if he had missed the chance to take the operation. "The 21st volume of Zero no Tsukaima novel will be delayed at least for two months. Please forgive me! Damn! I'll live on. I had been desperate, but I miraculously got an opportunity to take the operation. There is a possibility of survival. I really want to live."

Update July 15th
According to Media Factory, Yamaguchi is suffering from a terminal-stage cancer. A tumor was found this February. At that point, it was impossible to carry out a surgery but a shrinkage of the tumor was observed in May thanks to the effect of anti-cancer drugs. He said he has already completed the outlines of the remaining two volumes of Zero no Tsukaima novel and wanted to publish them as soon as possible.

Update August 4th
Yamaguchi posted in his twitter that the operation was finished and he was allowed to walk outside.

... and I hope J.C. Staff will make at least another season, if we are at the subject already.

Being a light novel author in Japan must be a hazardous occupation, as seen with the now-deceased authors of the Trinity Blood and Kaze no Stigma novels. And I think there was one other LN author who died young in recent years. But hopefully Yamaguchi pulls through, for the sake of himself and his loved ones as well as the series and its fans.

I'll cry if anything bad happened to Sakurako Kimino.

I don't like Zero no Tsukaima, so I can't care any less if the novel is delayed. But even so, good luck for the man and let's hope everything goes fine.

Wowww. How could you say that about anyone, much less someone you've never even met. I'd like to see you produce a hit then, if his work is such 'garbage'. I'll never ever understand people like you.

Anyways. You will pull through with the support of your friends, family, and fans right there beside you :D

Wow. I'm with Hoppy on this one. It's fine to hate the work, but it's totally uncalled for to wish for a person's death just because you hate said work.

That's just horrible.

isnt vol 21 the FINAL volume of the series too? It would be too cruel to leave a work unfinished with only 1 volume left!

Regardless of his works, it still managed to have three seasons. He has my respect and my hopes for a successful surgery. Besides, I want the anime adaptation to improve and I need his work to change my opinions about it. As long as he's alive, there is possibility for more change in the industry.

Oh gosh, I hope he comes out all right!

If its funds that is preventing him from potentially getting some treatment, someone should start a donation fund for him. I'm sure the crazy anime fans will donate thousands of dollars to help someone they love not die. That seems pretty up there on the importance scale.

Author of MM! also died this year, seems like a bad time for LN authors but I really enjoy reading them just takes forever for them to come out and it seems even longer for them to get translated. Lets hope he makes it last thing we need is another LN to never be completed and for the world to lose another great author.

Ishihara must not be happy with his law since he can't ban novels, so he's wishing them to die or suffer great pain and suffering. He better not be wishing on my favorite, keep those wishes directed away from her, go wish death to the people who stole from the Ano Hana Shrine, that's pretty much the epitome of disgrace.

Putting aside the rather crude implication here (more anime > guy's life), this doesn't make sense. How does rushing the anime out change the fact that the original novels aren't done yet? And how would his death - which hopefully will not happen - prevent another season of the anime?

Your logic and priorities are just all wrong here...
You obviously didn't get the joke, but I'm gonna reply seriously

Are you implying I should be a hypocrite and pretend I care about him dying? You have any idea how many people I don't know die everyday? If I don't care about them, why should I pretend care about him? It's just being egoist. I do care about anime, so of course it's a priority.
I'm pretty sure him dying would make the negotiation fo another season hard in more than one way.

It's times like this that you realize just how precious life is...

Anime/manga/LN just doesn't matter, I don't care if ZnT ever gets finished, I don't care if we ever get another anime...

A person's life is in danger.....that should be the only concern.

Very sad news...

It's so ridiculous to read so many comments where IDIOTS feel the need to show their disapproval of the series this man created as if that mattered or had any weight at a time like this....it just shows how people really are.
