I liked this anime overall, i did cried on those shots of her family and friends praying for her. Also idk if it was GG fansub mistake, but in the beginning Kon remarks that the restaurant she is in is where Hottori works, it sounds weird because in episode 6 they celebrated Tatsuno b-day there together with Kon (which was actually also her birthday)

If you noticed the titles in the beginning of each story they're jumping chapters of the manga, while ep.6 corresponds to chapter 20, ep. 12 tells the events in chapter 13 and 14

Just watched it.

Fucking brilliant!

Fuck did I cry T_T ...

I love it when a comedy suddenly moves me in such an unexpected way.

A perfect ending for my favourite comedy series of 2010.

Right now l'm mourning a bit for Soremachi ending ...

This show really grew on me. From 'average' in the beginning eps, to 'great' in the end.

Same.
The drama caught me off guard but was a great addition to this episode.
Awesome blend of comedy, slice of life, action and drama, without action.

haha.. that's one version of afterlife that I would really like to end up after I died.. XD

great last episode.. the drama part was a bit forced but still very lulzy to see.. and the last part was trademark SoreMachi ending, I love it.. :D

I'm a little bit sad that this show doesn't look like it's getting the recognition it deserves.. well I guess it really is a hit or miss kind of show especially since Shaft is behind it.. but for me this definitely needs a second season!! \o/

Me too :'(
The last episode was brilliant; funny yet touching. If I could rate it 8,5/10 I would. Maybe I'm going to be nice and give it a 9?
A second season would be nice. I enjoyed the crazy and thoughtful stories :)

totally agree!!!...

9/10 for this last episode (here I rate 5/5) 8/10 overall. This asks for a second season. IMO it surpassed Arakawa Under The Bridge because Arakawa has more potential that it uses.

Nice ending; I think few people noticed some subtle drama with the guide there: "You are young, so how about dressing as an angel and greeting the deceased? ... My son does it, too."

Nice Ending. Sure there were a few weak episodes but I don't regret that I watched the series. Would have been nice if they made a second season.

Afterlife, were funny.

"No! The holy feather!"

That was the best part ^^

I loved this show so much!

Definitely my favorite anime of this season. It's a show I know I'll rewatch multiple times.

Fantastic episode, probably the best of the whole show. Japanese heaven was hilarious. I just couldn't stop laughing when that guy asked "Is this your first time dying?".

But with that ending, you'd see why he asked that xD

A very satisfying ending. I was really surprised when I realized she had died; I did not expect that at all!

I love the scenes where her teacher broke down and her father pleaded at the shrine. They were very touching.

The OP and ED will be missed. One of the best anime of 2010. :)

Edit: 8/10

And the town still turns. Best random comedy anime since Natsu no Arashi!, hands down. It kept getting better and better till the end and the characters were SO enjoyable. 8/10.

I think the mangaka is amazing for having such wonderful ideas. It's hilarious that the afterlife has different systems for different nationalities. and how bureaucratic everything is. Possibly the best episode yet!

This needs a second season! :)

At first my impression for this show wasn't very good but it really grew on me. I think it got better going along and i really enjoyed the last punch of episodes.
A second season wouldn't be bad but i don't know if that will turn to be good for the show since Arakawa's second season took a turn for the worst.

Anyway it was a nice way to spend some relaxing funny time.

Finally finished it.
Well, it wasn't bad. It wasn't great either.
There were those fun moments, and some typical SHAFT moments, and then there were those moments that you're wondering why the hell you picked it up in the first place.

Tl;dr decent. Nothing more, nothing less.

Oh fuck this, I was so happy that this miserable, annoying idiot finally got what she deserved and then they bring her back. :| Decent series with a main character that is too dumb to live and an inconsiderate boor at the same time. Worse than moe.

Man, I disliked the first 3 or so episodes but from episode 4 to 10 the series was hilarious and well done, I didn't, however, enjoy these last two episodes as much. I don't mind the drama that came into the picture, but I can't help but feel as though it was very very clumsily executed and I just didn't care. I did, however, laugh at the office worker asking Hotori if she has died before and the Anubis feather scene but otherwise this didn't do well for me.

I had this series pegged as an 8, these sub par last couple of episodes along with the not so enjoyable opening episodes brings it down to a 7. Good series, though.

Did she just die? Well, temporally, but that was really unpredictable. At first I thought, that her after life adventure was the REAL story she wrote. But it really ended as a sudden death. (pun intended)

Anyway, the series progressed from being worth a 6 up to an 8. Good work and I really want to see more of it, poko.

Popped this ep in just to see how the anime handled this manga chapter. Turned out to be a sappy mess.

The manga is far less sentimental with its presentation. It doesn't overdo the binoculars scene, omitting most of the "after death" flashbacks from her family. Just the doctor's mention of her coma, her and the audience's realization of death, some tears, then the return to earth. It's touching because it ain't so forced.

The whole dying thing led up to a great excuse to get out of the pen problem. Though, I can't tell when this show is being funny or serious anymore. Either ways, that a was really great...punchline...or something. Still, that's what I liked about this show. The comedy wasn't just funny, it was also very roundabout and clever, and this ending was a nice blend of comedy and drama. I'm impressed. 8/10

That was probably the most creative ending I've seen to an episodic comedy show. Wow, just amazing. Would love to get a season 2.

Just like another user said before me, was planning on giving the a show a 7 but after this episode it easily gets the bump to 8. Going to miss this show.

Holy crap I actually cried when she was looking at the people down on Earth.
Then she said something like "i'm actually being missed" and my heart hurt because of how she said it.

It threw me off guard so much, I will bump this to a 7.

I laughed when the guy asked her if it was her first time dying.
After watching what happened his question made complete sense and that was awesome.

Liked this anime a bit, not super convinced. But this last episode... Hot damn, what a twist. Hotori even keeps her good mood in death. The scene with all the reactions of her friends was really touching, especially Moriaki-sensei's. Very sweet and Chiaki did a great job seiyuuing (eh?).

I really wish there was more, but seeing as it's been almost 6 years....I probably doubt it.
