| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Reinhard better watch his back. He's been saying all along that even his subordinates are welcome to come at him and it looks like Reuental is seriously considering the proposition. Mittermeyer doesn't look like he'd go along so that may be a great strain on their friendship if it comes to pass. Rubinsky is another one that better watch his back since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. His son looks to be gunning for his position too. Perhaps Julian becoming a soldier will be a great boon for the alliance? As it stands they really need more capable officers. As long as he continually learns from the best he should be able to do fine. |

| Ruental vs. Reinhard would be interesting I think. Hopefully for Reinhard it does not come down to that as he would lose a very capable officer. I wonder who Mitterymeyer would side with if it came down to that. Probably Ruental but you never know with this series. |

| So Reinhard made his spot open for a challenge? Looks like Reuenthal would be eager to try. Interesting to know that Rubinsky is Kessling's father. While interesting, it sure adds to the unease in the two governments. Rubinsky should have his bases covered knowing what his son is capbable of, otherwise Phezzan will be looking at a new leader. Yang.... the man can't seem to get a firm hold of things in his sight. Although he lost Julian to becoming a formerly enlisted soldier, he gains one more bit of talent to his pool. |

| I find it interesting that they were talking about Alliance ending up spending too much money on military expenses and therefore collapsing precisely because it tries to stay big. Considering this season aired before the collapse of Soviet Union that's very well put. Yang's philosophizing on the nature of armies was good as well, although the ideas hardly were unique. If anyone's going to betray von Lohengramm, I'd bet on Oberstein. That man will stay in the background just as long as it's convenient. A few episodes ago I realised that Julian is voiced by the same man who did Johan Liebert in Monster, now it's hard to miss. The voice is different but quite a few years have passed after all. |
| The thing that stuck with me the most this episode: Yang Wenli is probably the biggest pacifist at this point in the series, this was driven home a few episodes ago during the "inquiry". But, to Kempf's children he is "That Yang guy",The man responsible for their fathers death. It was just a short scene, but it spoke to me in some way. |

| I wonder, is Mareindorf or w/e her name is going to become the next Sieg for Reinhard? Or in other words be "the light". I initially thought this was the case, but now I'm getting the feeling she acted tough at first but is in reality way over her head. |

| Hilda's remarks on Oberstein are making me worried. I really don't want Reinhard to go down the lonely tyrant path...Hopefully Hilda can save him... Good to see that Kircheis suggestions are still being used by Reinhard..Hopefully he keeps using them. Worried about Ruental..Some major foreshadowing about his future. Will he rebel?? Hopefullly not. Him and Mittermeyer and one of my favs... This Phezzan plot is getting me all nervous...After watching the preview I have a feeling that the plot is to assassinate Annerose....Hopefully this plot doesnt succeed!!! and Phezzan dies in the future... |

| Quite a lot was going on in this episode. It's true that Kircheis is missing, but his influence is still there. Meanwhile Reinhard is gonna jinx himself if he doesn't stop speaking like that. Who know's what or Reuental or maybe even Oberstein are capable of. And more interesting insight on Rubinsky's side. I also enjoyed the chat between Yang and Julian. |

| 2021 Rewatch Mittermeyer and Reuenthal defeat the arrogant FPA forces that pursued the retreating Imperial ships from the defeat of Geiersberg. What's with that tiger-stripe pattern on Nguyen Van Huu's ship? Rubinsky & Kesserling discuss bloodlines and Reinhard & Hildegard doing the same. *looks at strands of hair in the locket* "That'll be alright, won't it, Kircheis?" 😭 Reuenthal admitting that he could be wrong and Mittermeyer worrying Oberstein might get him for it.... Yang wanted to study history but he and Julian are now making history... contrast this with the ill Kümmel who worries that he doesn't have enough time to leave his mark. |
