I liked the episode. The flow of the plot was good and the relationship of Parn and Deed is belieavable. Lets see how it ends.

From the beggining of the story it was clear that Deed had a thing for Parn. Wasn't so sure if Parn felt the same way. After this chapter it's safe to say that he does feel the same way.

I still can't get over how good the character designs are. They sure don't hand draw them this pretty anymore.

So Ashram is still alive somehow. Finally Parn got hold of a real badass sword, maybe he can fight toe in toe with Ashram now?

It was pretty obvious it would end up with Parn sooner or later, but the moment he lunged at that ball of dark energy it was really over the top. It really screamed "would have worked with a holy sword".

Also, Parn has won some fights. He killed some random enemy soldiers/beasts now and then, and he pierced Shooting Star's eye with the ballista. The problem is that there is no enemy for him to fight, except Ashram.

But if you think about it, what fights did Kashue win, or Orson? It was all against random enemies, no actual challenge. It falls a bit short on real fights, only offering Fahn vs Beld, and the occasional clash between Parn and Ashram which ends with Parn being defeated within seconds...

Btw, i love the way they portrayed the elves superior senses. Both Deedlit and Pirotess repeatedely have been the first/only one to notice the other group. Not often seen like this.

Noo just when Parn shows signs of being reciprocating Deed's feeling, this happens :(

I wonder if Wagnard will actually be able to control Kardis or if it was just a ploy to get someone to resurrect her.

The relationship between Parn and deed is so underdeveloped. Its always been clear Deed had a thing for Parn but never the other way round and they never really did much up to this point to make it believable that it would deepen for Parn to this level. Now all of a sudden in one episode he's head over heels in love with her lmao.

Some of this OVA's orchestral soundtracks really sound like classical music, huh. And a certain track even reminds me of battle music from SDF Macross.

I wonder if the big guy with an even bigger sword (Orson) drew some inspiration from Guts. Or is this too popular of an archetype?

The brief romantic sutiation between Deed and Parn was further enhanced by the first one being in an "insecure" position (barefooted)

@St0rmblade Wich Lodoss track if you don't mind? (The "tadadada tata tadadada" from Macross?)
It isn't strange that many tracks will remind you of something by the way. There have been discussions about how the composer possibly "borrowed" several tracks from elsewhere (the given examples in the article were movies).
On regrettera cependant que la magnifique bande originale symphonique de Mitsuo Hagita soit en partie constituée de musiques « empruntées » à d'autres films contemporains (Chouans !, Leviathan)

I can't give you the name of the track (yet) but around the end of the episode, right after Slayn says something like "let's go to Marmo then" and while the shot pans to show Kashue, there's a brief moment playing the music I mentioned (awesome explanation on par with trying to explain Macross tracks, I know; just keep in mind that catchy OST playing whenever Zentradi battle pods attack)

@karsius It's not "all of a sudden". From memory, the OAVs are supposed to mirror snippets of the heros adventures, featuring a scenario here and there, living them live inbetween.

Pretty sure Orson was born before Guts. The first novelization he appeared in was published in 1989, making his in-game/replay introduction logically earlier than that.

Ashram survived. Shock of the century.

Parn and Deed's relationship is showing some progress, but it was abruptly cut short by Wagnard. If he can actually control Kardis with the scepter, then it's hard to see a path to victory for the heroes.
But if you think about it, what fights did Kashue win, or Orson?

Both of them beat Parn, as did every other named character that fought him. This is why I don't understand why he was given Fahn's sword, when there's clearly better candidates out there. Parn has survived this long because of plot armour and outside help, not because of any combat skill he displayed, despite this informed "potential" he's said to have.

I don't mind protagonists being unskilled or untrained, but I do mind when they're rewarded with royal armaments and equipment despite not having the achievements or finesse to deserve them. If Parn actually has this potential that Kashue spoke of, then he is yet to show it. His willpower and determination in the face of adversity could be praised, at least.
