I seriously enjoy J-pop but I found it really difficult to catch the trend (since Australia is not really into J-pop). Does anyone know a good site or something along those lines that I can use?

Yep, it's all good. The site has been found XD! To all that is using this as a reference, here are some of the sites...

  • Limewire or any torrents
  • www.jpopasia.com (not dling site, but great for finding songs)

It is japanese language written in latin - not their letters (hiragana, katakana and kanji)

I get J-pop by p2p... but I dunno about it much yet... ^^'

Since you say you're a noob, the easiest way I can think of is the fan pages on myspace of the bands, they sometimes have the players up of the songs that you can download.

I use limewire btw, it does the job.

Ripping the music from youtube video files works. Even though the quality usually sucks.

My problem with downloading J-Pop is that the tags and file names are in English or Romaji. I would like them with the original Kanji characters.

For that I usually use Wikipedia or Musicbrainz.org (<-- great site with official track names).

I use Winamp's Auto Tagger (I have the pro). It puts all the tags in there original names.

I go to JapaneseMusicDream, which is a "blog" in Wordpress that has various artists and all their albums/singles ever released.

The only bad thing about it is that you can't listen to the song first unless you go on another site before you download it.

I also used to use Third Stage for rarer stuff.

Otherwise I download all of my singles and stuff. I like Nipponsei and Jpopsuki for those.

Getting music off of youtube is an annoying hassle, among other things. One I'm rarely up for.
Anyway, I get most of music in general at Soulseek.

For videos and things, I often got them from communities.

Old avatar and sig retired for now.

Friggin cool avatar and sig, ukon.

I hate downloading music from youtube. I just simply check certain sites for J music, aimini seems to have quite a few songs that I search for. If not that then I simply carry out a google search.
