Yeah, that's creepy. That "boy" they resembles something out of human anatomy that literally came to life.

This is the type of night adventure these characters went on at school. Gotta say though, they did make this episode feel creepy but everyone came on the trip anyways.

Welp, if there's one thing that Nube is not good at, it's trying to appeal to Ritsuko on the paranormal, which she clearly hates. Otherwise, it's the rumor of the midnight honor student that has been making rounds around the school, enough for Hitoshi and the students to pique their curiosity, which Nube dealing with the situation straight on, decides to have quite the midnight class while trying to allay its fears, while tying it together with the intended exorcism.

The human model brought out of its slumber, and then trying to imitate the students as a benign spirit as that honor midnght student, his soul, as much as it is a doll, is unwilling to acknowledge himself not being a human until he sees himself as one. Instead, Hitoshi suggesting it playing with them, to which it reveals quite the plot for the kids to match it instead in a game of horror tag, the human spirit is adamant to chase every one of them down, until Nube stops the spirit, fuses it back to the anatomy model, and the exorcism be complete in and of itself. However, aside from the extensive damage on the school that Nube is responsible for, the anatomy model's escape to becoming human, and that says so for the wish to "become human" in and of itself.

Quite the creepy story, that has a somewhat "happily ever after" ending.

I really love that they took this episode very seriously this time, more so than the original. The original was lighthearted, but the remake is very serious and dark with the doll. I also love that they brought back a few classic moments, like Nube being bad with his paychecks and trying to flirt with Ritsuko. However, in this one, he isn't being a pervert or childish around her; he's being slightly mature yet trying to impress her in a gentle yet comedic way.

@KANLen09 yeah it looks like they took it very serious with the 'kid' since he had a lighthearted episode where he wanted friends but in this one he wanted his friends to 'match' like him. I also love that they brought back some of the classics from the original anime.

Could Nube be one of the first, if not the first anime that make human anatomy doll into a ghost?

Good episode. I see that the show is picking random self contained stories from early chapters since it does not follow the manga chapters order (prior adaptation did the same). I still think the ost is superb, specially those epic orchestral sounds man. I also really dig the ending of the story, makes you feel that you are reading one of those old scary stories tales where the ghost is still lurking around in any town just like the one you live in.

The dissection dummy episode? I didn't think it would be the third episode... I remember the '90s version; it was definitely one of the scariest episodes. This version wasn't as scary.

YESSSS!!!! I LOVED THIS IN THE ORIGINAL!! :D:D:D

I'm still floored by how perfect all the new seiyu are. They're INDISCERNIBLE from the original cast!

Anyway, I'm so happy to see a more humanizing episode for these guys, since I absolutely adored these in the original. Zashiki-Warashi episode when? :D

It seems like they're trying to mix some elements from the sequel series into this remake (First Nube being dumb at using internet and now this), since the model there (He did reappeared twice in Neo)

Damn that anatomical model was quite creepy huh, it was already unsettling when it was just participating in class and trying to act normal, but then it started chasing the kids while Nube was taken out of the picture for a bit, yeah I wouldn’t wanna be caught alone in a hallway with that thing lol. I really liked that the kids were in actual danger here too, it was almost lighthearted with Nube around since he could guarantee their safety, but the moment he was gone, shit got real lol.

And I was not expecting the ending coming, it seemed like the model was dealt with but he became a real boy after all, or should I say “real” boy because bro is still missing half of his skin lol, pretty spooky way to end it tho. I like that they threw in that he could be in any school too, as if he’s some folk horror story or something, I guess Nube accidentally made this one himself lol. I liked the more horror focused content in this one, I hope we get more of that!

Well, I think that everyone that know his true face will be scared in that school.

Since the anime premiered with two episodes and now released the third episode without skipping a week, I can understand that this production is ahead of schedule, "because that would be great for yuusha-kei."

An episodic monster of the week episode. It adapts chapter 16 of the manga. So much for being a show that focuses on just the plot. Seems to now be a show that adapts bits and pieces of the manga. Adapting some chapters, and skipping others. Would've preferred for it to just adapt everything really. But the original 1996 version did the same thing, so it's no different to the original version in that regard.

Also, I never reached the events of this episode in the original anime, so this was all new to me, which was cool. (Just checked, the events of this episode happens in episode 41 in the 1996 version. I stopped watching the 1996 version at episode 25).

And yeah, this seems to have a lower rating/ranking than the original 1996 version (with over 1k votes), so I guess people don't really like the remake, and the 1996 version is better.

its sad and little creepy at times, but I wonder if he really became a human with only half of the body covered with skin.. how will that work and how will people not gonna find out eventually?

While the animation isn't totally bad (it looks good when it needs to, but still inconsistent) — I wish this got the passion that Yaiba has, this is leagues better and way more interesting to watch

Wait, that’s really how this ended? They just go, 'Oh well, we tried,' and now it’s going to school half-skinned like it’s normal... ??

Now that's an episode you'd expect from an episodic horror shounen. Very nice.

It ain't a horror anime if you dont put a human model episode. Still always creeps me out and this one was out for their skin, damn. Poor Nube though, will be eating bean sprouts for a while longer.
