This had a more personal journey vibe compared to the previous few episodes for Chika. Still got the food, exploration, and baths though!

Also felt like an episode of self discovery for Chika. Good for her, every episode, she's learning something new.

This time, Chika was alone on her journey. I’d say the funniest part of the episode was her getting completely sucked into the hot spring!

There were some great moments showing how much time has passed and how much she has grown over the year. Sadly, she wanted to enjoy the sunrise with the other girls, but they were busy with work. Getting to watch the first sunrise of the new year is a great feeling.

Well i can understand watching the first sunrise i usually don't get home before 2 in the morning during new years since i tend to celebrate it so i doubt i would be able to watch the sun come up unless i pull an all nighter.
The manga got published which is nice and we got to see more of Japan because of it.
Chika had a nice time especially in the hot spring.

Another extremely sweet episode. It’s fitting we end the year off with a Chika solo trip to reflect on how far she’s come. I can’t lie, the ending made me tear up and get goosebumps. I’m not an outdoors person, but I think our world is so beautiful. Sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate it. That’s what travel helps you do.

For the first half of the episode, we’re off to Aomori prefecture and the Hakkoda mountains. Ain’t no way in hell I’d be up there myself in that fog, but respect to Chika lol. The Yachi onsen trip was cool as well. Felt like I got to take a load off right along with Chika as she took a dip. I love learning about new hidden places in this show. I didn’t know there were 3 legendary hidden onsen. When I’m back in Japan later this year I’m checking out that one in Hokkaido for sure.

So she went 3 hours away without doing any sort of research and the place was closed ๐Ÿ˜‚ yea, she’s me. Always do your research, folks. Dont be like us! Worked out for Chika tho as that beach she saw is so serene. Being the only person there had to feel like being in another dimension! This is why we travel during off season btw folks. November is ideal

Last few minutes of the episode at the southern tip of Honshu were so cool. Like I said, I couldn’t help but get emotional at that sunrise and it just feels like Chika’s grown so much since we met her. Hopefully next year she’ll be able to take in the first sunrise of the year with all her friends! Can’t believe we only have a few episodes left ima miss this sm.

All of these locations are very interesting.

Tsugaru Strait, the strait that separates Honshu and Hokkaido. At Cape Tappi, there isthe Seikan Tunnel Museum. The tunnel housed the Hokkaido Shinkansen and the Kaikyo Line, which run beneath the seabed of the Tsugaru Strait.
Osorezan, one most sacred places in Japan. Osorezan is also known as the entrance to the afterlife, because it features geographical elements similar to descriptions of Buddhist hell and paradise. It is believed in Japanese mythology to be one of the gates to the underworld. Closed: November through April
Honshu's northernmost point, Cape Oma, is located not far from Osorezan. It can be visited on the same trip.
Lake Towada and the Oirase stream are a nice place for strolling through the forest. Lake Towada is the largest crater lake in Honshu.

Locations:
Aomori's
Mt. Hakkoda
Yachi Onsen
Shimokita Station
Osorezan

Wakayama's
Kushimoto Station
Mankou Restaurant
Shionomisaki Lighthouse
Shionomisaki (the Southernmost Point of Honshu)
Shionomisaki Tower
Misaki Lodge

Speaking of visiting the northernmost point and the southernmost point of Honshu, I wish she would visit all 4 extreme points of Japan that are open to the public in the future.
Cape Soya, Wakkanai - the Northernmost Point of Japan
Cape Nosappu, Nemuro - the Easternmost Point of Japan
Hateruma - the Southernmost Point of Japan
Yonaguni - the Westernmost Point of Japan

Thats quite the view that Chika discovered. But the journey there sure was a long one. Solo trips are always the best. Still seeing the first sunrise of the year sure looks fun.

Really loved the first of the two travels this week.
I could see myself walking in these forests, even through the fog, but also sitting down and just gazing at this gorgeous lake for hours.
Nature looked so beautiful.

The second travel is a bit more classic in the sense that it involves watching the first sunrise of the year, something you see quite a bit in anime (and I imagine irl in Japan). What was interesting was that Chika decided to watch the last sunset of the year first, which I think is a lot more unusual (in anime at least, I don't know about reality).
That moment when she realized she could have done it with her friends was a little sad, but I guess she'll do it some other time instead.

Overall, a very chill and nice episode :)

Super fun episode.

This time a solo camp. I have a feeling Chika is obsessed with hot springs now after knowing how to use them properly. Honestly, I would be obsessed with them too if I did what she did. That sunrise and sunset were absolutely beautiful, especially that sunrise, Sometimes solo camping is the best way to go.

It could be a spectacular view to see the last sunset of the year and the first sunrise of the new year. More so, when there are no obstructions in the way.

Chika finally got published (YATTA!!).

Now it's time for her to melt in a hot spring, many times

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Even this time the backgrounds when taken from real photos are really interesting and beautiful to see and study. How much melancholy I felt in this episode, I already feel sad thinking that there are only three episodes left for this anime series to end. I hope there is a second season whatever happens in the end.

This is a really nice, cosy anime! The only downside is that the background characters look really weird. Sometimes I can't help but look at them, but it doesn't bother me that much. I still really love this show!

Is that a Girls' Frontline reference? The girls on the cover look similar to some T-dolls in the game, Vector and HK416 in particular come to my mind.

Again Chika traveling alone, too bad, I'd say if the episode wasn't great, the onsen scene is as good as always, but the foggy scenes and the first sunrise of the new year look great too.

Might just be my one of if not my favourite episode of the season! lots due to relatability, but also as it is such a symbolic episode of the 'present' (ofc might be "reading too into it")... nature definitely is what keeps Chika grounded at times, but also what keeps her going in the daily struggle. amazing!

Groannnnnnn... another live action episode pretending to be an anime. It's literally just photos slightly filtered in (Photoshop probably) with this one blue haired anime girl. And a bunch of imported models.
This show feels like a very cynical commercial by Nippon Tourism Board or something. At no point does Chika feel integrated with these photo backgrounds.

This would be so much better if she visited better locations, but so many of the places she goes are so mundane. The sunsets are the only time the show feels like it has any vibrant color.

@tywhoppity Huh? There are no background artists. That's just photographs taken by camera. Nothing is drawn except the character.

why on earth would they ruin that pretty sunrise scene with this horrible cgi still frame? usually the decision is between an animated still frame or a cgi shot, this is worst of both worlds, this is so damn hideous and it's not the first time they pull this

Chika really enjoying her time in that hot springs!
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Another solo journey for Chika to Mt. Hakkoda in the Tohoku region for her manga inspiration, though the fog almost caught her by total surprise. And Yachi Hot Spring, one of Japan's Top 3 hot springs, Chika really gets all of the spots being sucked into the hot spring, no matter on what occasion and time. But the journey to an area where it feels all solemn, there's some thought behind it though.

Chika once again on another solo trip to Wakayama to see the first sunrise from Honshu, and also view the father of lighthouses in Japan through the Shionomisaki Lighthouse, it's been quite the struggle of a year of rejected drafts to finding herself throughout the midst of her travelogues. And the walk of New Year's Day in the coldness to see the first sunrise, not gonna iie, it looks majestically beautiful and a sight to behold.

New year, new beginnings, for the mangaka still finding her purpose.

Aomori.
The Hakkoda Mountains, a place with a lot of fog.
Chika discovered a new way to bathe in the hot springs.
And thanks to that, she was inspired.
She looks so adorable when she sees her finished work <3!!
Wakayama.
The first sunrise of the year.
Chika wanted to see it and went all the way to Honshu.
Chika experienced many things and still has many more to do.
A very beautiful sunrise, it was a very nice chapter.
