This is an odd question for me, as I don't think I ever had this problem with any other manga that I've read... but right now I've been reading Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid because I want to be able to watch ViVid Strike, but this might be the first case where I'm reading a manga at the same pace I would watch an anime.

I have fun while reading it, but after pages and pages I notice "Wait, that was all just one chapter? I don't think I'll be able to finish this any time soon". (There's the fact that I only found a downloadable version where every chapter is separated, instead of it all being compiled "by volume", so it makes it all more "noticeable").

So this might be a very dumb question but... is there a trick to that?

Is it possible Vivid has more words on each page compared to other manga? My own favorites can be pretty dense.

Why wouldn't you just watch it? Do you need to read the manga for some reason or is it just because you wanted to?

I think the "having fun while reading it" part is very important. If you'd rather just get through it, then you might as well read a summary, just skim the pages or watch the anime adaptation (depending on the chapter:episode ratio this can be slower). I don't often read and watch the same series, but if I do I prefer to take my time and enjoy reading, which makes the subsequent related media more satisfying.

Some manga reader websites also have "long strip" form layout which I find faster than clicking through pages if you can find it on one of those. I still prefer the book layout, though.
Censorship is vandalism.

Maybe? I took some random pages from Emma and Gunnm: Kasei Senki to compare, since I still have them downloaded here and... I don't think the difference in density is that big? Maybe a small bit, but not THAT much. What I've noticed is that the other two have a better "reading flow".

I decided to watch the entire Nanoha franchise in terms of anime and movies in release order (Exception being the recap movies, which I watched right after their respective seasons).
The thing is that Nanoha ViVid was the first one to not be anime original, but based on a manga, and it doesn't even comes close to adapting the whole thing. ViVid Strike is technically a spin-off of it, but I've heard it spoils the manga, so there's that.

The anime only adapts the first five and a half volumes, while cutting and re-arraging quite a lot from the latter two and a half.
The manga has 20 volumes, and I've already watched the adaptation.

accept that words are meaningless padding, it's all filler.
technobabble exists for the writer to pat himself on the back for trying to be clever.
every worldbuilding lore is exactly the same shit, when it's supposed to make it unique.
you have seen every possible relationship drama/friendship problem there is already.
the characters are archetypes, you won't see any interesting twists.
who the hell reads sound effects?
fyi I don't read manga. this is supposed to be a satire, but there's some truth in it.

Sorry bro there is no way you can speed up unless you want to skip some chapters other than nope.

I do prefer novel though or light novel because using my mind for what are they.

Maybe? Not like I have a way to measure this since I do not know Japanese.
Try picking some random chapters and giving me your impression.

All the ways you can read faster help, not sub vocalizing, all the read more and you start reading faster.
For manga in special:
You can put the manga in 2 page mode full screen, on a big screen. Helps to overview the page and art, spreads, and Oda love for horizontal story telling.
Shortcut your reader so that you can change pages, and zoom/move on the page as fast as your eyes would be able to focus on details.
I use the num pad to zoom the pages equivalent space, 0 to advance.

Now the question is, isn`t it more fun when you are playing it as an episode? You can watch anime at 3x the normal speed too, but it sucks.

where are you reading it? The whole thing is on mangadex. I usually use a tablet in landscape so you get 2 pages at once

Try a manga with less pages in a chapter or that which isn't dialogue heavy.
Try a site which has a continuous flow of vertical pages or webtoon style.
Other then that, you can train your mind to skip certain dialogue or speech bubbles by knowing what the context is from reading just a few words. Not every dialogue is philosophically deep so you don't have to put much effort on every single word. Learn to skim through all that. Also, each page has like 4 different panels. A lot of the time, the drawing is repeated in consecutive panels. You can easily skim through that.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

That format would be very bad for me, I prefer only one page and being able to zoom in when needed.
I'm downloading it straight from VividTranslations.

I guess that being able to find .cbz/.cbx files on Nyaa that I can read on SumatraPDF left me a bit spoiled, eh?

@thewiru I just zoom as needed. If I'm reading 4-koma I go with portrait.

I think you just get properly used to figuring out the manga panel layout read order. I noticed some it slows you down just trying to figure out which panel to read. This might be why webcomics are somewhat popular since while totally ugly and less artistic you can read through them very fast due to the format if you want to swipe swipe swipe seipe while reading, though personally i dont enjoy this much compared to appreciating manga panels. Also best to be able to view the full page at once. Scrolling up and down is so tedious to reading manga.

I meant the quality of the English is worse, or whatever language you read it in. I don't care enough to check.

That gives me an idea for your question, "how to read manga faster?" Read it in Portuguese if you're not doing so already. I hope my answer is helpful.

Sounds like a skill issue tbh.
Some mangas have significantly more text and pagers per chapter than others, so those take longer for obvious reasons.
I don't know if that manga fits the description, but that's all I can think of.
If you can't tell what's happening on panels, you'd say that, instead of saying you read slowly.
