Shishio and the Ten Swords are finally beginning to make their move. After the buildup, they gathered up their members and practically declare Kyoto's destruction. Not even a bit surprised Shishio would do this.

I think pacing is fine in these buildup episodes given the big battles ahead. Obviously, they're trying to make the upcoming episodes important and worth investing into. This is just the beginning.

Yep they really have characters in their group lol. I mean if someone tells me they’re planning to take over a country with a bunch like this, I’d believe them without even blinking once as well. Looking forward to a lot of fights which we’d be seeing in coming episodes now that Juppongatan has finally assembled together. I get how those foot soldiers must be feeling lol, I mean when you’ve literal monsters fighting by your side, hardly anyone would feel any sort of feeling in cutting those people into half and saving themselves by sacrificing the lot, but hey, not like they’ve a choice.

Hiko woke up btw, I mean Kenshin was looking after him, but yeah, I’m sure he must not have given a thought over things gonna turn to absolute worse in like a… day from here on. They all have their struggles tbh, but yeah, it’s just going to get worse for them. A good set-up episode, and I liked how it took its time in letting things come over at a place where it now feels every character knows what they have to do.

Nice chill set-up episode after the emotional whirlwind that was last episode! Seems like we’re only going to have a little time to catch our breaths though because the 10 swords finally on screen and holy shit they're some characters lol. Henya design is crazy and is that a fucking GIANT???

Of the swordsmen, I’m really looking forward to seeing what Saizuchi and Kamaturi can do. Kamaturi especially seems like they’ll be a riot. Idk how Kenshin and co gonna take out 10 of these dudes if they’re all on the level of Shishio lol. Cho could be an X factor. Sanosuke might match up well with the giant as well? Maybe Hajime against Saizuchi?

Aoshi acts like he doesn’t care but idk, still seems like there’s some humanity deep down. Glad he asked Soujirou what his motive is. He can say no all he wants, but there’s def more to it.

I’m so glad Hiko survived man I was gonna be torn if Kenshin’s de facto father figure died like that. Asspull or not, I’ll take it. Also really dope that Kenshin could not care less about taking on the new master role. That sort of thing is exactly why Hiko took him on in the first place.

For the first time director have added a massive filler in a episode. And surprisingly it turns out so good. It has made deep impact of the gathering of Juppongatana. Also including Aoshi and the past of sojiro were very reliable place to fit. And making cross shape with sakabato and master's sword was a lovely combo.
This anime is getting better and better.

Good lesson passed in the end: a sensei that teached somebody a style without decision of making the student be unhappy. I can't tell the same thing about my sensei but i remember when i was teaching my last guy I was teaching him my karate-do knowledge with the intention of the person be whatever wish.

Now, if Kenshin had used a regular katana instead of Sakabatō Shinuchi, the wound on Seijūrō would've been a lot of more graphic. Well, if Kenshin carries him, he must still be breathing at least.
Well, turns out Seijūrō didn't even need the medicine, man is just built different. But the possibility that he could've died is an important lesson for Kenshin. While he's training to get strong enough to defeat Shishio, Kaoru still has the lingering fear that he might revert to a hitokiri. Misao still wants to be referred to as Okashira in the absence of Aoshi. With only defeating Battōsai on his mind, he doesn't about care about Okina, Aoiya or even Kyōto.
9 of the 10 swords have gathered. They are all very eccentric, Fuji the giant can't even fit in their headquarters damn.

Spending three days to decide on gifts sure sounds excessive. Nice to finally see Kamatari animated. Still the ten swords sure are quite the escentric cast. Im glad that Seijuro didn't die but that mantle defo doesn't suit Kenshin's style.

Well that's it the juppongatana gathered. Funny how its called being in ten while i don't see it as a ten, since i can't pretty much includes Shishio dude there into those band, also the giant needed to be included? Cho even get jailed xD. And why including Yumi when she's not even the swordmaster? I am perplexed. Hmm perhaps its a very early hint that Shishio plan to burn down the thousands-year capital gonna end up in the big failure?

Aside of that, Kenshin parting part should've been more emotional, its actually being comedical lol. Shisho still intricate af, after Kenshin reject his giant cloak, but he definitely aware of his pupil worries, right?

Snail episode, looking forward to see the next.

Just as Kenshin finishes his training on the mountain Shishio has gathered his forces. The classic duality of our protagonist and antagonist with each ready simultaneously just as the other is. Kenshin had a close call with Seijuro not quite dying from that ultimate technique strike. It was a funny scene after he had woken up and shocked Kenshin. But I'm glad he's still alive, that trope of the master dying for their student didn't need to happen here. Seijuro better defend the people at Aoiya after Kenshin goes to confront Shishio! Speaking of he assembled his people to lay out what his plan will be, to start the great Kyoto fire! The swords he gathered don't seem to like each other very much but we got a nice look at many of them for the first time. I'm excited to see each of their fights in the future. We've got both sides ready for the big battle, all the prep is now done!

I got fooled by the trap Kamatari lol, he appeared on screen and I said out loud “oh she’s pretty” and then Yumi called him a man immediately after, oh well fuck it, still hot lol. But yeah I liked this bit dedicated to the Ten Swords and the buildup to their eventual attack on Kyoto, but instead of the Ten Swords they should have been called the Ten Freaks because damn they got the whole circus in that room lol, I’m sure they’re all skilled af but man do they look goofy, I’m definitely interested in seeing them in action tho, and also how Kenshin and the gang inevitably whoops them lol.

And nice to see Seijuro lived after all, I thought it was weird he was gonna die to the Sakabato, turns out he’s not so hell yeah, Kenshin got to acquire that new move and also keep his master around, big wins for our boy before he goes off to save Kyoto. And it’s funny how he refused to carry the torch for Seijuro lol, I respect it tho, and hey maybe he’ll change his mind one day, who knows what’s in this man’s future, hopefully it’s not ended in Kyoto.

Does anyone else think Shishio sounds a little like Kujo Jotaro? It's not the same VA... but it sounds close.

Also, Yahiko sucks.

@Miraz_Un_Nabi all he does is swing a sword one way, and its a wooden sword. He acts like a brat 99% of the time.
I honestly think he's my #1 most hated character this season

@Scootboi Did you watch karate kid while jackie chan was teaching his student karate?
First thing he did was freeing his student's hand. And thats why he made him to drop and lift the jacket for million times.
Here is also same case for yahiko, he is a new comer, so he has to swing his sword continuously for making him able to fight when it is needed. And yeah he is brat with his little age, you will see what happen

Kenshin's master is so fkng badass.

I always found it lame that Kenshin didn't want to teach their art, it really dies with Seijuurou.

Kenshin and Hiko Seijuurou's swords forming an "X" on the ground... oh yes 🚬

Nice set-up episode. Hiko Seijuurou survived Kenshin's Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki because he's badass like that and Shishio's band of freaks has finally assembled. Things in Kyoto are about to get heated for sure.

Just like the fate of master and apprentice, mastering Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki will cause the master to lose his life for the apprentice who will gain this tremendous power, and Kenshin's policy to not let anyone die, this remains even more true for Hiko.

Thankfully, there is medicine to help recover Hiko, as much as Sojiro is out on Shishio's amends with the arrival of Usui midway to get a Yatsuhashi, and with the arrival of the remaining Ten Swords of Kamatari, Saizuchi, Fuji and Henya to gather, Shishio is finally ready to make Kyoto a state to oust and burn crisp to the ground.

Even the soldiers in Shishio's camp feel the same hatred to take down the Meiji government, but if there's someone important missing from the puzzle, it's Kenshin mourning the loss of his master, though he seemingly managed to recover not from the fake medicine, but from his Shinuchi sakabato absorbing Kenshin's attack that just left enough for his survival. And from here on out, it's up to the apprentice to keep on mastering the ultimate technique and refining it, plus with the cloak that defines a successor...or not, since he intends to use Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu's teachings and finish it there.

The master-apprentice relationship may now be non-existent, but Kenshin will heed well to follow the steps of Hiko.
