But these ones do not 1 Shingeki no Kyojin -I don't even know if there's even a plot, just a guy turns edgy and run around the battle field with infinite supporters and plot Armout. | Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer, not trash, but just unenjoyable to me. The idea of giant naked people as humanity's doom is just silly to me, and Demon Slayer I find people just saying it's good because of the visuals. The blonde guy screaming a lot does not help my opinion of whiny shounen characters either. |

| Dragon Ball Super. It didn't capture the magic of Dragon Ball for me outside of the surface level. To begin with, the first 2 arcs can be pretty much entirely considered filler, as they adapt the movies with worse animation and pacing in order to pad for time to get to the new content. This felt really insulting to me as a fan of the series as it was purely just a waste of time, with most of the added content being very inconsequential to the story. Resurrection F was kind of a middling entry in the franchise to begin with, mainly being carried by its animation, but the Super arc of that movie was so insufferable with the stiff animation and horrible pacing that I stopped watching it halfway through and skipped to the new content. Even then I'd say the new content really didn't hold my interest all that much. The Universe 6 vs 7 arc was honestly not the most engaging for me, the ending to the Goku Black arc is very contrived, and I think the TOP was just ok. I feel that the main issue with Super is really the writing. Toriyama (RIP) was not really as involved in the story as you'd think, only providing vague outlines to Toei Animation and Toyotaro to flesh out the script, leading to more room for interpretation and more room for error. So many characters have just had some of their growth and development just completely undone. Goku is a genuine dumbass in Super, not really taking much seriously at all and making much less rational decisions than he did in the original run of the Dragon Ball manga. It's gotten to the point where his character regression is so much that he has forgotten what meditation is as of the Super Hero movie, which directly contradicts earlier manga arcs where he did train (although that was a Toriyama mistake since he did write the screenplay for Super Hero). Vegeta seems to have also lost some of his Buu arc development where he acknowledges Goku is better than him, although the manga seems to be doing something with this by Vegeta having a new goal to get better at Goku in his own way instead of following the same strength path. As much as I have wanted the sidelined characters from the original manga to get more spotlight, Super doesn't let them get to the same level as Goku and Vegeta in a reasonable amount of time, speeding up everyone's growth at an absurd rate. Super honestly to me just felt like a cashgrab to sell more toys and video games off of new characters and transformations that borderline recolors of existing ones. In this post-Super era I have felt more interest in other elements of the franchise such as the video games rather than the main product of the show and manga which is honestly kind of sad. Games like Fusions, FighterZ, Kakarot, and the upcoming Sparking Zero have garnered more attention and interest out of me as they all did something new by iterating on old ideas for the franchise in fun ways through their gameplay. Meanwhile all Super really has are the flashy fights and transformations which don't really do anything for me. Dragon Ball is more than just the fights, its a story about adventure, friendship, and working to better oneself in both body and mindset, yet all Super felt like to me was an excuse to basically slam action figures into each other that you can buy off of like BBTS for $70 each. |

Like at this point niche new shows get the high ratings thanks to shill farms like Geexplus directing zoomers who only care about what's "popular" (i.e. what Kodansha or Shueisha or whatever wants to succeed).

The story is just episodic mysteries, a bit like hyouka, but still pretty irrelevant to the main plot. I also don't really like mao mao that much either. Great op and ed tho, I will give it that. |
