So Riche's plan is to make an alliance after all. That opened up to negotiations although it seems she didn't have too many options in the first place.

Riche also assures Arnold that she won't allow him to get rid of her easily. She definitely spoke from her heart this episode during that conversation. We got a cliffhanger which is leading into the finale...interesting.

OK, so Rishie is trying her best to prevent the war by stopping Michel will it bear fruits & also interested to see how she will handle this & Kyle's situation.

The fireflies make me think that Rishe will convince Michelle to make fireworks instead of weapons with the gunpowder somehow.
12:05 Google translate says that Kaiserstadt is "imperial city" in German. It doesn't work for Schiengisse tho, so idk what it means.

Metal powder! Totally fireworks.
Okay, I have absolutely no idea how they can save Coyolles at this point, with Arnold being so damn tenacious.

Last episode next week.

So, she's thinking of doing fireworks now? Seems a bit late in the season, but I guess it could work. Still, it's a weird idea. I thought she'd come up with something more convincing for Arnold...

Now Rishe has to deal with two skeptical people because of family stuff, all to finally get the peace she wants and break the loop.

What the hell has Michel been up to this whole time? Why's he suddenly showing up at the palace? I bet he's going to mess up Rishe's plan again.

So the reason Arnold does not like his eyes is because of his father the emperor (daddy issues strikes again). I feel bad for Kyle. Rishe's going to confront Michel next episode.

PS: I can't believe next ep is the last ep!

rishe really leaped there. whole balcony scene was cute though, from the catch to rishe talking about making her way back always somehow. rough to think about how the fireflies' lights resemble the light from the battlefield.

She did it again, the balcony jump!

Kyle is desperate and while I kinda feel for him, Arnold was completely right in the proposal being naive.

Dunno what Michel is planning now, but surely something crazy.

I also have a feeling that Rische's going to take the black powder and introduce "fireworks" what with all the foreshadowing with the fireflies and the map (sort of?) but I can't see how that will 'appease' Michel's curiosity nor Arnold's stance.

I mean...I guess in the case of Michel he has inferred he wanted to see "explosions" so I guess fireworks could do it without the death that comes with the alternative he was inferring.
But it's sort of a stretch to see Arnold satisfied with fireworks if he thinks/sees fireflies are war torches...idk....

The main question would be, who is the one in control in the shadows?
I doubt they can fit a fulfilling finale next week for a single episode, but let's see...
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

The fireflies sure were pretty. The thought of Rishe returning as a maid if she loses the engagement really was amusing. Kudo's to Rishe though she really pushed hard in the negotiations. Kyle also did well in the last monents as well. Things though have defo taken a turn for both Kyle and Rishe.

those soldiers lining the room after Rishe left made me wonder if something bad is about to happen to Prince Kyle and Coyolles. The fact that Prince Arnold wasn't the least but surprised kinda makes me wonder if Michal and Prince Arnold have already been able to speak. I hope not. either way, it seems like both Prince Arnold and Michal are up to something, whether it be individually or together. also, I loved the balcony scene. I really really hope that Prince Arnold is falling in love with Rishe. it seems like he is but when he said that he's had to kill people he loved with his own hands, it made me kinda worried for Rishe. keep learning the way he fights so you can defeat him if need be Rishe! the future of your world is depending on you!

I have a feeling this series works beter if binge watched. One ep a week is a disservice to it. It also suffers from the stupid decision of being released as the same time Gekai Elise. The main love interest in both series are SO SIMILAR!!! Appearance, personality, clothes, background, behaviors. Sometimes I mistake one for the other. The anime studios should pay more attention to their competition before releasing something. The villaines to heroine pipeline is already getting saturated, then they pull these dumb decision up? Overall not at all a bad series, but some weird decisions were made

I really do like Arnold's character, he definitely has the charisma of a leader. We got some nice Arnold x Rishe stuff but things ain't looking good for Rishe's plan. With just one episode left lets see how this ends. Btw is Rishe still not aware of her feelings for Arnold even after all the stuff she said to him this episode? Like fr girl?

Just one final episode of what’s been one of the best villainess shows ever left. Dunno what I’ll do without my weekly dose of Rishe and Arnold.

The firefly scene was so important for Rishe to get across to Arnold the sanctity of all life. In the future, at least in her previous lives, he’ll go on to start wars that kill thousands and thousands of innocent people so teaching him the value of even the most seemingly insignificant life is massive.

“Don’t make me have to get rid of you.” “should I become your wife I will still move to achieve my own aims . Even if that means you toss me aside” Yess, this is why I love Rishe so much. She’s such a strong and independent woman who just refuses to live any other way besides how she wants.

She obviously wants things to work out with Arnold and get him on the right path, but she’s not going to change who she is and conform. I feel like every time she says stuff like this something snaps in Arnold cause he not used to someone standing up to him ๐Ÿ˜‚

“I want to tell you this over and over again I think your eyes are the most beautiful in the world” bro was so flustered after Rishe told him he had to call it a night there lol.

Despite the nice balcony talk with Arnold and Rishe it seems like she didn’t quite get thru to him with Kyle and the Coyolles negotiations. Arnold is still being an asshole to Kyle and rejecting the alliance. Was not expecting him to straight up say he can just take the watchmaking technology instead of sharing it with Coyolles.. even after Kyle’s impassioned speech there at the end Arnold brought his guard in so we’ll see what he’s playing at but it ain’t looking good.

Michel and Arnold are probably working together and that’s how michel was able to slip around the surveillance tail. Would line up with Arnold’s military ambitions.. gonna be an interesting finale for sure.

In a night ridden with fireflies, Rishe jumping across from her balcony to Arnold's, it's a bold risk that he knows she'll recklessly do, not through the door. Her just admiring the beauty of Arnold's eyes, which bear the colours of his father, which he had a strained relationship of. Despite that, Rishe reassures and reaffirms him that her love will never waver for him, as his future wife.

Kyle's alliance with Rishe should help to alleviate Arnold to form an alliance between the two kingdoms in the business acumen sense. But Arnold sees through the ruse and still wants to claim everything through military power, which both Kyle and Rishe don't want the war to be pushed in that way. Theodore alerting Rishe about the failure of Michel's surveillance, which he came straight for the royal palace to find her, and now, Kyle is about to face the same thing against Arnold.

Two halves of the wrong resolution, will Rishe be able to make a right?

That entire first half on the balcony was very nice, a big part of why I really liked it was the ambient noises chosen, I started to wonder if it was coming from the show or outside my house because it sounds the exact same lol. But of course besides that I also loved the conversation had between Arnold and Rishe, as well as Rishe’s amazing jump, and it’s funny how she realized later she could use the door because my first thought was the door lol. And this conversation shed more light on the way Arnold sees things like seeing the fireflies as war torches, as well as hating his own eyes since they’re like his dad’s, however Rishe is here to turn things around on Arnold, along with a proclamation to keep coming back even if he was to cast her aside.

And later came the 2nd attempt at an alliance with Kyle’s country and Arnold’s with Rishe there to help sell the new wares that were brought, like watches and jewelry, as well as the possible future of technology which I personally liked a lot. Well as expected this was not enough to convince Arnold, and I was thinking the same thing honestly where he could just take that stuff by force like he was planning before lol. And although it seemed like Kyle’s final comment may have made a dent, the negotiations were unfortunately interrupted and Rishe had to leave, and looking at how things ended with Arnold bringing soldiers in and Michel being found outside, the final episode may not be a happy one, but I’m pretty hyped for the finale now, this was a good Sunday watch this winter season.

I really don't understand what Rishe and Kyle wanted to achieve with the 2nd negotiation attempt. Not a single point they made proves that it's better to leave a country independent rather than subjugated. It's like offering your business card when you're about to get mugged; that's not going to help you walk away.

I thought Rishe had some genius plan that will make an alliance a far better option; something like a threat to smuggle the artisans and engineers to a rival country in case of an invasion. But I'm pretty disappointed. Maybe she has an ace up her sleeve that will be revealed next week...

Metal Powders.... If she were to find some other purposes for gunpowder besides for firearms and explosives, combined with those metal powders as well as inspiration from fireflies, is she attempting to create fireworks instead?
I seriously originally thought that she would invent dynamites instead. Y'know, to help Coyolles opens up new deeper mining veins. But considering the powders, instead of amonia (and by extension nitros), appearently it might be for fireworks instead.

Kyle and Arnold... We might be in need of a hostage negotiator pretty soon here....

Michel carrying a large bag into some alleyways. Call the bomb squad!!

Note: Since last EP, the anime has officially surpassed the manga. So I actually has no idea what's going to be happening next. So, all the things above, I'm just as theorizing as you do.

This prince is so unpleasant, idk why I'm still forcing myself to watch the MC fall deeper and deeper into this "fixing the cold guy" trope, I wish I knew this was going to be like this before I got invested.

Ever since that episode with the brother (which was probably the dumbest drama I've watched in a while) I feel like I'm torturing myself watching this.

Also, I wonder if the author ever saw real fireflies.

Um. Is one person offering the science of making Big Boom while another is offering technology that would be able to aim and direct it?

Also, the 1st prince is awful. While Rishe's "I will return" proclamation on the balcony was cute and all, I kind of hate that she's become that for him after years of growing to not need the last fiance.

I get that learning she didn't need the last guy is different from choosing to stay with the current, but if at this point, if he can't see her worth enough to NOT say things along the lines of "if you get in my way, I'll discard you," he's probably not it either. Still, it felt like a nice line on her part and it's a nice visual seeing him willing to let go of the sword/war for her. However, his "I have angst!" attitude is wholly unneeded.

How Arnold tries to say he wants to rip his eyes out was a lil cheesy even if he is such a stoic and reserved character that came out in the worst way possible.

Rishe tries to come up with the formula for gunpowder before Michel Hevin does. Seems like she is trying to get Coyolles to be as persuasive as possible for the alliance with Galkhein.
Seems like the story is folding up now with Arnold preparing for war with Coyolles and apprehending Kyle while Theodore and Rishe work together to capture Michel.

Episode started and ended on a strong note.

@perseii When all the artisans are dead and the industrial equipment destroyed because of a war, you'd think subjugating them will give them access to the technology?

@zcv45 Yes? There are any number of ways to capture "artisans" and "equipment" in a war. Like Operation Paperclip. The US landed on the moon thanks to German scientists.

Sure, there are risks and potential sacrifices. But if Arnold's country decides that the benefits far outweigh the risks, they can absolutely take a gamble.

Rishe's job was to convince Arnold that the benefits aren't worth the risk. But she didn't offer anything. All she did was highlight how appealing the benefits are (I think; it's been a while since I watched this), which really has no effect on the decision.

@perseii I'm well aware of Operation Paperclip. But unlike what Arnold is suggesting, the US didn't invade Germany for the scientists. The US simply captured them since they were already at war. Compared to the alternative scenario where Germany didn't go around invading their neighbors but instead cooperated with say the US; they would have achieved equally if not much greater success.

Also unlike the US, Galkhein didn't have the industry for the technology presented at all. US already had rocketry, and a industrialized society. Galkhein is far behind that of Coyolles both in quality, manufacturing time, and mass production as was shown with the jewelry.
Also Rishe's argument was in response to Arnold suggesting Coyolles had nothing to offer which was not the case. Arnold used invading as a counter argument which is a weak one at best. A good example of this is literally Taiwan's "silicon shield."

@zcv45 You seemed to take issue with artisans dying in wars, so I just brought up a case where artisans were safely secured in the middle of a war. It's not an impossible task. I get that it's not a 1-to-1 comparison.

War is an option here, Arnold is good at wars, Arnold's empire is the stronger party (I think). To him there were more reasons to fight the war than not. I suspect his country's been itching for a war anyway, but that's me speculating.

If Rishe wanted to convince Arnold against war, she should've worded it like you; that there will be a high risk of losing artisans and the industry, that Arnold's country will not be able to execute on the technology themselves, and generally explain why it would be better to have business dealings with them, instead of a war. Like I said, spell out the risks, and play up the benefits of the alternative course of action. To my memory, she merely argued that their technology is great, which Arnold already understood and was starting a war to take control of.

@perseii Fair enough. I agree it definitely is possible to capture the artisans. I mentioned the artisans because ultimately some would die, and ideally they wouldn't have if their expertise is desired. But you are right, some would also live.
I also agree Rishe really didn't do a good job driving the point home. While I don't expect her to bring it up immediately upon mentioning the technology. She should have however made some rebuttal after he suggested simply taking it by force. I don't think it would be a difficult point to argue.
I also think it would have been a stronger conclusion for that aspect of the "conflict."
