I really don't understand what Rishe and Kyle wanted to achieve with the 2nd negotiation attempt. Not a single point they made proves that it's better to leave a country independent rather than subjugated. It's like offering your business card when you're about to get mugged; that's not going to help you walk away.

I thought Rishe had some genius plan that will make an alliance a far better option; something like a threat to smuggle the artisans and engineers to a rival country in case of an invasion. But I'm pretty disappointed. Maybe she has an ace up her sleeve that will be revealed next week...

@perseii When all the artisans are dead and the industrial equipment destroyed because of a war, you'd think subjugating them will give them access to the technology?

@zcv45 Yes? There are any number of ways to capture "artisans" and "equipment" in a war. Like Operation Paperclip. The US landed on the moon thanks to German scientists.

Sure, there are risks and potential sacrifices. But if Arnold's country decides that the benefits far outweigh the risks, they can absolutely take a gamble.

Rishe's job was to convince Arnold that the benefits aren't worth the risk. But she didn't offer anything. All she did was highlight how appealing the benefits are (I think; it's been a while since I watched this), which really has no effect on the decision.

@perseii I'm well aware of Operation Paperclip. But unlike what Arnold is suggesting, the US didn't invade Germany for the scientists. The US simply captured them since they were already at war. Compared to the alternative scenario where Germany didn't go around invading their neighbors but instead cooperated with say the US; they would have achieved equally if not much greater success.

Also unlike the US, Galkhein didn't have the industry for the technology presented at all. US already had rocketry, and a industrialized society. Galkhein is far behind that of Coyolles both in quality, manufacturing time, and mass production as was shown with the jewelry.
Also Rishe's argument was in response to Arnold suggesting Coyolles had nothing to offer which was not the case. Arnold used invading as a counter argument which is a weak one at best. A good example of this is literally Taiwan's "silicon shield."

@zcv45 You seemed to take issue with artisans dying in wars, so I just brought up a case where artisans were safely secured in the middle of a war. It's not an impossible task. I get that it's not a 1-to-1 comparison.

War is an option here, Arnold is good at wars, Arnold's empire is the stronger party (I think). To him there were more reasons to fight the war than not. I suspect his country's been itching for a war anyway, but that's me speculating.

If Rishe wanted to convince Arnold against war, she should've worded it like you; that there will be a high risk of losing artisans and the industry, that Arnold's country will not be able to execute on the technology themselves, and generally explain why it would be better to have business dealings with them, instead of a war. Like I said, spell out the risks, and play up the benefits of the alternative course of action. To my memory, she merely argued that their technology is great, which Arnold already understood and was starting a war to take control of.
