I am pretty new to reading manga (I mainly watch anime) and was wondering what most people do and what people would recommend!
have you ever tried eating a clock? It's very time consuming.

I always read online, I only own physical copies of one manga series which I hate now so that taught me a lesson to not buy without knowing the end.

I do both. Usually I start off a series digitally and if I'm really liking it, I switch to physical. Though I usually wait for a sale before buying. Depending on where you live, digital can be significantly cheaper than owning a physical copy.

I prefer having physical copies but I can't always run to my Barnes & Noble and spend 100 dollars on manga and light novels, so I painfully have to resort to online as my main source and get most of my reading done at school.

Why would I pay for a physical copy of something I could just read online for free? I read everything on Aniyomi, which is a fork of Tachiyomi, a manga reading app where you can read any manga you want for free.

I do both.
For me, it really depends on what is the best deal financially, but also what the genre is (some genres I'm fine just buying it online, while for some other genres I prefer to have it on my shelves).

online as buying them is still a bit expensive. I mean one volume might seem not, but the whole series? I am planning to buy my favs though.

Mostly read online. I do own a lot of physical volumes but they are hard to find and pretty expensive. On the other hand reading online is easier and you can pretty much find anything.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Its half and half, sometimes its physical but most of the time i'd say online.

As for where i read them, that i'll have to plead the 5th about.

Both. Mostly physical but I don't mind purchasing digital media if I have a difficult time finding certain manga. I'm also an avid reader and only read physical copies of literature, so having a digital library with a long running series can save up a lot of shelf space, ha-ha.

Depends on availability, tbh. I've done both. If I can't find the manga physically, I'll read a scan of it.

I prefer to read it physically, unless it's not possible to do so. If that takes me longer to finish a series, because I don't have access to it at that moment, so be it.

there are legal ways of reading digital manga online and offline, but if we are being honest, this thread is really about whether you pirate the manga you read or buy physical copies. maybe there's a sense of guilt or something, which is why people say "read online" instead of just admitting to piracy. of course, there's a gray area where people do both (buy physical and pirate), but that's going off topic.

with that said, i read both physical copies and legal, downloaded digital copies.
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

always read online and if you REALLY like the series buy the next volumes physically and read them just to show some appreciation and love to the author. this is what i do. bought a volume of koi to uso and also volume 1 of oregairu LN even though i've finished watching it.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

Hoping to someday be able to visit a manga store (that isn't B&N), becuase reading physical copies is the best! But it's also impractical at times - so online is the go-to!

That being said, for series I particularly enjoy reading I will usually pick up a volume or two of the physical manga, mostly as a collector's piece but I also like the idea of supporting the creator.

I definitely prefer to read it physically, but these days I read it on my computer, as I prefer to own as few things as possible, and there's no way to borrow manga where I currently live.

Both but physical I am rebuilding my collection because my previous one was in french and now I want it in English since it's the language I read manga for 20 years. I give away my physical collection in french to clear some space.

I only read mangas online and buy the mangas of series I really like for collection.

I prefer reading online because of the convenience, also to not damage my physical copies, so I let them on shelf to keep them safe while I enjoy its content through apps or sites.

I prefer to read digital manga since physical manga is more expensive in my country, and I have to deal with it being out of print or out of stock. It's also too hard to keep an eye on stores to see if they have the particular volumes I want in stock.

I read manga online because some manga aren't available in my country and I don't really have that much money to spend on manga though hopefully one day I can keep a huge stack of manga.

It really is a whole other experience reading the books in person instead of off a screen. However, I couldn't just go and randomly blindly buy something without knowing what was in it, so i always review the material online first off some free site before purchasing.

I read it physically from the public library (or if I bought it from a bookstore/comic book store). But thanks to Hoopla, and my public library online (along with Webtoons app), I'm able to read some manga and manhwa/webtoons on digital. So most of the manga I read are physical, I just started to read them digitally for some titles.

Both.

It's always easier getting copies of stuff off the internet to read them on my desktop, but it's far more enjoyable to hold the book in my hands and read it that way.
