With this 3D stuff with 3D movies and 3D video games, now 3DTV. Will Anime follow the same path too?

I would rather not. I find the 3D TV and movies to just be a gimmick. I honestly don't expect the trend to last, but I could be wrong.

It does create an interesting effect, but honestly I don't think it truly adds to the viewing experience. It is also adds to cost I believe.

I don't really like 3D movies to begin with... I mean dude... the story is still the same even with or without 3Ds...

Are you serious? It'll be the exact same thing, only you get depth perception.

No. I don't really care for 3D in general. I mean, it's cool at theme parks and whatnot, but I'm not interested in having 3D at my home, so why would I want 3D anime? Plus, it'd be a little creepy to see anime characters with big eyes popping out at you

I'm not sure how I'd feel about 3d anime, but I really hated CGI oriented anime, not that I watch much nowadays.
I like my anime like my jrpgs; 2d and awesome.

I don't really support 3D, but that didn't look that bad IMO. Well, I only watched the first 30 seconds...

That's meant to be 3D?
Yeah, no anime should look like that, 2D is perfectly fine for anime, not making it anything like that.. though the 3D technology will most definitely be evolving in the next few years and it'll most probably look better than that, I dunno if anime producers will jump boat and sink though.

I can't see any made for tv anime series being in 3D. the number of regular tv's will always exceed the number of 3DTVs so there is no market value in it =\

I am interested in seeing a CGI series though, haven't found any yet.

I'd really rather not deal with any 3D media in the current formats. Needing the glasses is stupid, and it just relies on optical tricks which can cause issues with some people (epilepsy etc) -- until we have proper holographic projectors, I'm content with 2D.

It exists, as I watched it. However the kingdom of 3D fully belongs to Disney and Dreamworks, it is a wise option to keep away from it, excepting some works.

Occasionally, yeah. Like Final Fantasy, it was a great success... Though if it all is to become 3D, it would probably be no good...Even though I understand that it will gain graphical depth, but it will also loose the look and feel of an anime...

It's fine if there exists some 3D anime, but I hope anime doesn't completely convert to 3D. One of the reasons why I like anime is because it's 2D. It's part of the anime's charm, I think.

Advent Children made me drool in graphics. I never played FFVII, but having their ugly polygons shift into current gen graphics was aweeeeesome.

Yeah FFVII AC Is a masterpiece when it comes to graphics : ) And has a decent story too...
I don't know just how much time they've spent on creating the characters' wireframe but it came out awesome :D

3D ruins the quality of the anime. I still like the series, though but the animation is a bit strange. Anime that I still watch despite being 3-D are Kirarin Revolution, and Gokujou Mecha Motte Inchou!!!

If they made anime 3D it would be a chance to gradually bridge the gap between anime women and real women, if this takes off properly, in the future you'll have a choice between liking a real life 3D woman or a much superior 3D anime woman. It's a good idea but they must have a 2D option for people who aren't too keen to liking an anime girl in 3D yet.

I have one calle Kaena or something that wasn't bad. And kaku Ren Bo: Hide and seek rocked. But I think 3d should be restricted to background things and vehicles while the characters are still animated normally.

And there's always live action anime.

I would enjoy some well made anime movies in 3D. In fact if it is well done and fits to the overall feeling of the series/movie, why not?
As long as the 3D feature ion itself isn't the main feature of the anime it could be cool.
I probably regret this post by now.

As a fan of 2D animation, I'd just like to be blunt and say, "I hope the bloody hell not."

3D feels like it's going through another craze right now, with movies and TVs and all, and it's lost it's appeal for me. "[insert movie title here]... IN 3D!" It's not cool or interesting to me. Almost everything is promoted as 3D in movies these days, or so it feels.

As for anime, I wouldn't be surprised if something like that happened, but I can't really picture 3D becoming mainstream like today's movies. I will honestly be surprised. But somehow, I seriously doubt it, even if there are 3D bits in anime today. I think 2D is where anime gets a lot of it's charm.

3D technology has always been a fantasy since Star Wars. But there's no way in hell I'm going to get a 3D TV or computer monitor while needing those glasses in order to see it. Hologram technology will soon follow suit, everyone will want one.

But anime belongs in a 2D setting. If it ever goes 3D permanently I'm moving to Mars.

I seriously hope not. I hate this whole 3D craze, and I really hope it ends soon. In my opinion, it ruins the movies, and it'd be horrible if it came into our anime. I don't want to have to wears glasses when I want to watch anime.

I dearly hope Anime does not jump on the bandwagon. I enjoy it just fine in 2d. If the viewing experience was anything like what I watched in theatres a few hours ago, I'll stay away from it.

I just watched Toy Story 3 in 3d, first movie I've seen in 3d. The glasses seemed to be a constant reminder of my existence in the chair instead of allowing me to get lost in the story and characters. Not to mention it took me a while (1/3rd of the movie) to finally get used to viewing the images in 3d. I also found that "3d" took away from the overall art of the movie, many of the backgrounds seemed blurred out/out of focus instead of crisp clean designs that pulled everything together.

I don't plan to see anymore movies in 3d and refuse to buy a 3d tv. I just hope Anime doesn't follow or at least have 2d options.

I went to a store today to test out the new 3D tv, the glasses cost £160 for 2 pairs -.-
The glasses are quite uncomfortable seeing as I wear glasses anyway, but meh, it was pretty strange seeing dogs in 3d, I wouldn't want to watch anime in 3d, really.
But yeah it is the next big thing, I wouldn't get a 3d tv unless they made them so you don't need the glasses, and even then I'd wait until they're cheap as hell :p

I take back what I said, an action / swordplay / magic anime may look nice in 3d, if there's lots of scenes with fighting.
