Canute's plan to take over the farm sounds like a much bigger plan it looks on paper.

Tension were high this episode as Olmar took in a fight on his own..a bit reckless if you ask me. Thorgil had no time for BS this episode and unleashed his wrath. Glad to see the anime kept it uncensored and the reality of what he's capable of. That was crazy.

Wow... an action-filled episode from Farmland Saga. This episode was basically the setup for what's to come moving forward from here on out. Also, a perfect place to end the first cour of this season. Olmar finally killed another guy and was basically set up by Canute in order to take on Ketil's farm. Thorgill caught up to it and slaughtered all of Canute's men. Wasn't expecting it to be uncensored but I'm glad MAPPA did.

But, it looks like they managed to escape through, Canute's takeover has finally begun, and he'll send troops to Ketil's farm. Interesting developments have already started happening. Can't wait for the start of the next cour next week. It was once again a beautiful episode and an incredibly well-directed episode.

At this point someone should just replace the word, "Embarrassment", in the dictionary with "Olmar". It’s THAT bad actually.

If the events of last episode weren’t already enough, this walking contradiction of a human somehow still managed to glorify himself as a bonafide clown in mere minutes within this episode. I mean you learn from your mistakes, but this dude is so stuck up on his fake pride that all it took was a simple provocation from a bunch of losers nonetheless to get him worked up. And if it wasn’t for his big brother Thorgil, I guess we all know how we wouldn’t have seen such fluke.

But hey that wasn't actually a fluke, in fact this act was a part of a big scheme Canute and his men were working upon, all so that they could arrest Ketil and acquire his farm as planned. Though it was Thorgil, who foiled their well thought preparations, acting as an ABSOLUTE menace. Killed a, maybe ten or twelve… nah who cares, and thus running away in due time with Ketil and Olmar. Now with their status as fugitives, Canute will go and hunt them down to the very ends of the earth.

Thorgil and Co. at Ketil’s farm accompanied by Leif, with Canute after them. And we know Thorfinn is already there. It’s all coming full circle. HYPE.

Fabulous end to the first cour.

There is nothing more fragile than a man's pride

Vinland Saga demonstrates this perfectly.

Excellent episode, amazing even. Thorgil is an absolute beast of a man

“Mock me if you wish, curse me if you must. I do all of this to create my utopia.”

Canute’s 4D chess skills have been incredible.

Cinema is all I have to describe this episode. Truly Goatland saga.

Olmar, who represents the sin of pride once again lets his emotions get the best of him and falls into canute’s trap. I love the scene of him being broken at having taken a life vs his brother relishing the opportunity to cut people in half lol. He sees it isn’t what it’s hyped up to be, killing someone is a deeply damaging thing.

S/O leif all these years later still looking out for and making deals to save thorfinn. Can’t wait for next week

Vinland Saga is an masterpiece in terms of direction. Once again, you can feel the love for this project by the whole staff working on Vinland Saga S2.

Absolute banger of an episode. The action was splendid and Canute is getting more and more ruthless, loving the complete opposite compared to S1.

I feel so damn bad for Olmar. The scene of him killing a person for the first time was really emotional and his reaction was very realistic. Thorgil is an absolute monster, cutting the guards like that with no hesitation. The scene of him stabbing the last guard's eye was the most disturbing to be for some reason. Genuinely scared of him.
Also just gotta say that the OP and ED are beautiful, though I think we'll be getting new ones next week as this episode marks the half point of this season.
Judging by the preview we will Thorfinn and Einar more next episode, excited to see more of our boys.

See Olmar, killing others isn't as glorious as you thought. Really stop and think about what exactly that entails. You're literally ending another human beings life in an instant, that takes a level of mental fortitude that someone like Olmar isn't even close to possessing.

The drama and tension this week was at an all-time high. Olmar got set up so Canute could have a reason to arrest Ketil, but Thorgill showed out and slaughtered those dudes like it was child's play. Night and day difference between him and Olmar. Canute isn't backing down though, and now the waters have been muddied further. I'm so excited to see how the two sides of the story that we've been following so far converge together as one.

A masterfully directed episode to wrap up the first cour, with Olmar getting into huge trouble yet again, as he got set up by Canute and his subordinates. Luckily, Thorgil was there to help out his brother, and with that, came huge bloodshed and beheading. Turns out, the set up was to get Ketil arrested so the farm could be taken by Canute, but that plan must be delayed a little. The farm is in danger now, and with Thorfinn and Einar close to freedom, they may not be after all, as the fight is coming to them.

This episode really depicted what pride can do to people. The virtue of patience is very important in this cruel world, no matter how hard it is. Looking forward to the second half, as we enter the spring anime season.

You're not alone. I laughed at "Come to think of it, the castle was looking for a new cook." - "That won't work. He can't chop up pigs!"

That one was pretty funny :P

It looks like the whole gang is gonna meet up at Ketil's farm. Canute has big plans, Leif wants to see Thorfinn again, and Thorgill gives us the fighting we've lost out on since Season 1.

Next episode is gonna be crazy I can feel it.

MAPPA gave Thorgil the respect he deserves, absolute mad lad. What makes him great is not his bloodlust, but the fact that he actually uses his head contrary to a lot of the other vikings/norse.

The 2nd cour will be glorious.

In Brazilian Law there is a premise: "If you find the Law in opposition to Justice, fight for Justice!". The older brother's attitude represented this concept a lot. Fighting for the family, the farm and your brother is fighting for your justice. As a guard, he could have opted for the law, but he sided with the family (justice). It looks great! Nice chapter!

Well...Olmar has been ridiculed too much, since the last incidient. But that's all about to change, thanks to Brodd the member of the king's guard being a messenger delivering him a message from Captain Wulf...it's nothing more than a laughingstock of an audacious joke. For a man that can't even cut a pig, he's the absolute joke. But when he draws his sword due to the number of insults that he just cannot take it, Brodd is easy to predict Olmar's moves. But if it ain't for his big brother Thorgil, who forcefully picked him up on his feet, it's either die living or die by the sword. And motivations as far the voice could go, supported by the mysterious man, Olmar lands a kill on Brodd, which the others retaliate with Thorgil taking over the rest in pure nonchalant brutality.

Ketil being distraught by the killings, it's of no doubt that this was a forced duel, but since Brogg and the others were the king's men, the duel is forbidden outside the kingdom's walls, leading to their arrest. But if anything, Thorgil isn't going to comply with that command, and took care of the king's guards with ease. The reason: intentionally setting up Olmar to kill the king's messenger so that they can arrest Ketil, it's o no doubt that King Canute has his eyes on them...and this is only the begnning.

King Canute, ready to move on to the next venture, isn't swayed that Ketil's family is on the run, and is becoming more like his father Sweyn. Their escape thanks to Leif, and as both Thorfinn and Einar continues ploughing the farm, Canute's longing to create his own utopia, it's all for lost love.

A resounding finish to the 1st half of Farmland Saga, NOTHING BUT MASTERPIECE GREATNESS.

I know Olmar is pathetic and all, but I can't help but pity him. I wish he'd get some sort of growth.

I loved how Thorgil defended his family.

That scene with Thorgil killing all those men was so good. Unfortunately, they had to censor it a lot. Hopefully, in the Blu-ray it's completely uncensored.

Ending the first half of the season with a complete change to the stays quo. The entire Ketil family are criminals due to Olmar trying to defend his honor from insult playing right into Canute hands. This is exactly what the king wanted after he said last episode that Olmar could he useful. Canute knew that Olmar would react exactly as they think he will. Men like that are all too predictable, Olmar played the part perfectly. Thorgil just wanted an excuse to kill some people and sticking up for your little brother is as good a reason as any. That hooded man flicking the coin in the guards eye was nasty as hell. Ensured that Olmar could actually deliver the killing blow and the offense committed. Thorgil cutting those other dudes up, literally cutting them into pieces, was crazy to see. The brutality of that kind of warrior on full display, Olmar got to see firsthand what killing is like. Its not so cool as he thought in the end. On the boat ride back we can see Olmar hasn't slept since then and can feel the guilt of taking a life. Thorgil is the only one not too worried which is hilarious. He just loves to fight and kill, while Ketil knows exactly how big the shit sandwich they just stepped in is. Canute is readying a force to take the farm now. Ketil will only have a few days head start to prepare his own men. Meanwhile there's another menace approaching the farm whom we'll see soon.

Jaw-dropping episode.

I kind of pity Olmar, he's pathetic, but he didn't deserve any of it.

Thorgil in this episode became more likeable for me, before he just acted like a total douchebag, now I can appreciate his loyalty to the family and attention to details.

Thorfinn... I sense a calm before the storm.

Canute really changed a lot. All for lost love? What did he mean?.....

Can't spell slaughter without laughter.

In order for Canute legally confiscate Ketil's farm, Olmar has been set up to commit the crime of lèse-majesté.
Only after Olmar "wins" does Thorgil realise that it's all been orchestrated. Making a deal with Leif, the fugitives take to the waters.

From the end of the last episode, Canute decided Ketil's farm is going to be the first to be requisitioned. So a guy was sent by Wulf to tell the group to inform the message that Olmar is rejected, and ofcourse they humiliated him and Wulf and Canute already knew that after humiliating him he will pull out his sword and do some dumb shit, while they were humiliating him though the look on Olmar's face was so sad, he sad but he was also angry, and as expected he pulled out his sword and started fighting him and after he couldn't do shit Thorgil showed up encouraged him to kill the guy, now the person who was sent by Wulf puled a trick that hepled Olmar to get his first kill and obviously he can't kill more men so Thorgil who is fucking crazy jumped inn and killed em all. Ketil showed up and he was liked what have you done, there is no going back from this but Thorgil knew that duels were pretty common here but when the king's guards showed up they arrested them, and aagain crazy ass Thorgil kileld them, the guy who was sent by Wulf, Ketil questioned him that why did he help Olmar to whch he said the plan was to let Olmar win so Ketil could be arrested, now we know why Ketil is to be arrested, to resquisition the farm ofcourse. Ketil and the family left with the help of Leif making a deal, one of which included that he will take Thorfinn. Crazy ass episode though, Mappa did an amazing job with the animation and the visuals. Shit's about to go down when Canute's army goes to Ketil's farm moreover after seeing the preview for the next episode we see knew person who looks bad ass.

The dots are starting to connect. Ketil and Leif. Canute and Thorfinn. Ketil's farm and Canute's requisition.

Wulf sends a group of king's guard to bait Olmar to a duel. Olmar get's pissed by the mockery and makes a challenge. During the duel he almost gives up but Thorgil comes in and provokes him. Provoked by Thorgil's words, Olmar runs upto Brodd for a thrust and successfully pierces his neck. The catch though: The guy who escorted the guards to Olmar flicks a coin right in Brodd's eyes to distract him, thereby allowing Olmar to thrust his neck without any resistance. Annoyed by this, other 4 men gang up on Olmar, but Thorgil retaliates this time and kills all of them without any hesitation.

It is evening, and the king's guard arrives. They again try to bait them by arresting. Ketil and Olmar are tied up, but the moment a guard goes to Thorgil, Thorgil instantly slashes him. The slaughter continues until one is left. Thorgil makes him tell the truth forcefully. It is finally understood that Canute is after them. Ketil is disheartened by that, however it sparks up Thorgil's fire to fight. The scene then moves onto a boat, Leif's boat to be specific. Leif Ericson helped Thorgil, Olmar and Ketil to escape Jelling and return to Jutland. Leif makes a deal with Ketil, to buy their produce for thrice the price and also to release Thorfinn. That's fucking epic! The plot progression since past 2-3 episodes has been awesome, and I just keep on hearing that it's going to get even better from now on.

I am very very excited for the moment when
1. Leif meets Thorfinn
2. Canute meets Thorfinn

These two are going to be amazing moments, and I can feel that they are going to be something very special for the characters, for the story and most importantly for us the audience. How is it going to go down? Are there still any caveats? What's going to happen to Ketil's farm? AHHHHH IT'S SO EXCITING!

5/5 episode.
After the recent plot progression, it's time to increase the rating. I guess 9.7/10 would be great. I can already feel a 10/10 incoming by the time S2 ends.

I do feel bad for laughing at the jokes the guardsmen made towards a dejected looking Olmar after his failure with his sword last week. He might be a bit of a clown, but I do feel sorry for him as he got mocked to the point where he lost his rag and chose violence, only for him to get himself thrashed.

Thorgil arrived and gave him a pep talk before Olmar went again, but the plan to frame Olmar went into motion as his opponent took a coin to the eye before being killed by Olmar. Thorgil's sense that this was a set-up was spot on and his slaughtering rampage on the rest of Canute's guardsmen, along with another guardsmen group that tried to arrest the pair, including Ketil, only ended with them dying by Throgil's crazy sword skills.

With that, they escape Canute's plan for now. Canute himself isn't too fazed by this setback and is planning a full-on raid of Ketil's farm once Floki arrives. The next episode's title feels fitting for what will happen very soon.

With that, I highly look forward to seeing how things will play out in the second half of this second season. So far, the first half has been excellent in terms of character development and story progression. =)

I totally agree with you. Thorgil after this episode became more likeable for me as well. I guess they did not really touch upon his character in more detail previously like they did with this episode. So after telling more about him it makes sense that he has become more likeable.

Hilarious episode. I liked the faces when the guys mocked Olmar. But also the action with Thorgil - he is insane. He just love fighting. But not because of a bad past that forced him to fight (like with Thorfinn) ... but just because he thinks it is fun. Would be interesting to see him fighting Thorkell. (Maybe that will happen ... if Canute now called for Floki and the other guys.)
