Anyone tired of romance in non-romance shows? Every season there's always romantic pairings in anime. It's like Anime can't survive without this overdone trope.

Romance in non-romance shows is on average better than romance in romance shows.

Nope, not tired of it at all.
As someone that 99.999% of the time hasn't read the source to know what happens later on, throwing in that bit of a romance hint just adds a bit of mystery.
Will they hook up or not?

That bit of "potential romance" tension can be a nice addition to everything else going on.

Since most anime don't even conclude the story, let alone any possible romance, it doesn't really matter if the romance goes nowhere.

You're never too old to watch anime.
If I ever stop watching anime, check my pulse I'm likely dead.

I wake up with coffee & anime, I go to sleep with coffee & anime.

Sorry if my sarcasm is bad, it's not my first language.

"tired of romance in non-romance shows?"

Not really. The romance is the best thing for me in Detective Conan for example.

That's right. Its good to see a group of characters interact in ways not limited to the subject of romance. Makes them feel more fleshed out and real.

No. I'm more tired of isekai and fantasy shows.

Romance
Action
Ecchi
Edge

These are surface level layers that anime tend to depend on. I am perfectly fine with that. Especially when the plot progression, character development, or backstory are inadequate, or lacking in an anime.
These may be surface level, but they get the job done.

It’s not a trope… that’s like saying when a character visits a new town, it’s a trope. This is simply a thing to add to the narrative. It really depends on what the series is too.

I find romance to work the best in shows where it isn't the main focus, at the very least romance subplots are hardly ever as predictable as romance anime because they don't have a set destination. Makes the characters feel more fleshed out, like they have something else going on in their lives. Although the particular appeal of "romance anime" is the fact that it's supposed to be this sort of magical moment in time, where nothing else matters, at the least that is how I would interpret it.

You are not the only one. I have already dropped couple of shows this season because all that random romance just pissed me off.

romance is the bread and butter of genres.

why do you think it's present everywhere? because it's the best genre of all time.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.

I'm not really tired of it. Plus, if I don't watch it in anime then how would I experience it?

Never, it should be that way, and sometimes it better than actual romance anime.

We need to abolish all romance in anime so Dragevard will stop making these threads.

At this point you can start watching American cartoons and stop with anime, it seems the former are a better fit for you

This is like saying that there should be no friendship in a non-friendship anime. Yeah, it doesn’t make sense. Humans connect with each other, and that connection sometimes can be romantic. It’s normal for there to be romance when there are lots of characters interacting with one another. But making it a focus in a non-romance anime might be a problem(like dedicating a whole arc to romance between two characters that most of the time don’t go anywhere)
