Shikimori San should have just beaten up that loser main character ..but she didn't so it was cringed
Couple of cuckoos - the fact they still mix up babies in this day and age makes me lose my trust in the hospitals..
The fact one of them was so rich and the father would make her teenage daughter move in with a stranger is creepy..
Most people would sue the hospital

My days of watching rom-coms are long over. I can't stand them anymore

Yes, they're all important things as well... But the most important thing is responsibility for your own actions.

The bad ones make me cringe. The good ones make me laugh or make me wish I had a girlfriend.

I just finished the romance My 1st gf is a gal. I found it very interesting that the final villain was a ntr villain chad who is tall and good looking. That series was very self aware of the reality of relationships, but to deal with him, him and his friends beat him up without the gf ever finding out about it. Kind of strange seeing a conflict with a lot of moral signaling getting thrown around end in a way where violence magically solves the conflict in a non realistic manner. Romance rarely makes me cringe, but as a blackpilled weeb, I definitely notice when events that would never happen occur like a female lead settling for an average mc. Despite that, I generally like the unrealistic otaku pandering. It certainly beats watching another boring Hallmark type romance where chad settles with another women. Lol

Overall, romance highly varies depending on who it is made for. Shounen and Shoujo romances are very different.

Sing "Yesterday" for Me is probably the most frustrating and annoying animes I have watched. I assume it was intentionally written this way, but at the end of the day it just feels very much like a waste of time.
The decisions the characters make leave you kind of scratching your head.

I dislike vanilla romance where the focus of the show is on delivering wholesome romance without any drama or hurdles in the relationship. It makes the show feel like an obvious self-insert girlfriend simulator with a perfectly likable and ideal waifu (Looking at Dress up Darling and Tonikaku Kawaii). Romance drama like White Album 2 or Engage Kiss is my cup of tea.

I started watching anime just for romcoms and currently kida tired of it. While Oregairu is still my fav, shows like Rent a Girlfriend, Toradora, Golden Time, Dress up Darling and made me cringe. But I am not reluctant to watch romcoms free from unnecessary dramas like Tonikaku Kawaii or Taisho Otome or Wotakoi.

Almost every single time I watch one.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

Yep all the time, which is probably why romance is my lowest scored genre per my anime.plus stats. Most harems/reverse harems are horrible and make me cringe, with a dull guy being surrounded by a bunch of hot girls or vice versa. Tonikaku Kawaii, My Dress Up-Darling, Call of the Night, Rent-a-Girlfriend, Amnesia, Higehiro, Shikimori, etc. and most recently Mushikaburi-hime....why are there so many romance anime like this. Bring on more power couples where both genders are hot and have a semblance of a personality please.

Yo I think I need to stop watching rom com anime.

I used to never think of certain things but now whenever I share a water bottle that dumbass cliché of an indirect kiss pops in my head.

This happen to anyone else?
You know what? You're a fucking idiot for saying this....

.... because I've now realized that it's the same fucking way for me...

I loved rom-com way back but now I hate those cliché-moments like the loser x the most beautiful girl in the world ... So recently I watch just that came with original ideas or that can be more comedy to focus on.

The dumb cliches are the best part man. Their constant presence provides security and stability in a chaotic and ever changing world.

Romance anime had a decadence in quality the last years. The rom-com ones gave me 1000 different types of cringe. I recommend to read romance manga instead. There are more jewels there.

Most Anime Rom coms are set up in immature settings via high school life. This broadly effects Anime in general that has even a hint of romance injected into them mirroring the "cringe" tropes and cliches found in the Anime Rom coms that will often make a viewer "cringe".

It's so contagious that the opposite sex simply holding hands or kissing in Anime are often viewed just as taboo as if characters are actually having public sex. Even date scenarios are on an adolescence level where your not going to see a couple eventually go to a private place to make out or even to the extreme renting a room at a love hotel. It's rarely ever even implied that characters in Anime ever get busy in private.

This goes without saying that anime is Fiction so people really shouldn't take these things seriously. If Anime was more realistic when it comes to young romance, chances are a majority of them would feel even more "cringy" making the viewers watch scenes of characters actually getting nasty and likely completely changing the genre from romance to erotica.

Tonikaku Kawaii is a show that is unbearable for me to watch. The limp main character is a huge turn off.

Kanojo mo Kanojo is just so cringe, I read 10 chapters of the manga and haven't touched it in months, even thought I still want to continue.

But nothing beats Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo, that one is an absolute cringefest and a bunch of shit.

I think some people are misunderstanding the question being asked. It's not "Is romance anime cringe?", it's more or less "Does romance anime make you someone who is cringe?"

Yeah romance in anime is very cringe 90% of time

Adults act like teenagers

teenagers act like literal kids

But Japanese culture is very weird, its the country with like highest rate of singles and lowest birth rate (at least from what i found out from my 3 minutes of google)
So its no wonder this genre is generally cringe when entire country is asexual

There are times one has to embrace cringe. When you come back home from a day of nothing but studying for hours without break, watching or reading a simple slice of life romcom just feels good

it's too cliche at this point for me. i guess the school battle anime can be a light rom com for me cause they would have harem so the cliche wouldn't be so severe.

Honestly I like romance animes, heck a lot of my favourites have it in some regard. Just depends on the show.

For every banger (in my opinion) like Takagi-san or Toradora, there's also a Shikimori-san or an Osamake out there as well. It's popcorn entertainment at the end of the day for me.
