| These past months, we have seen many updates making MAL more "modern" and losing its old school style that we have been used to for like years. Most of it seemed awful at first [and some manage to stay awful too], but a couple/few updates were honestly good like making the forums [before this catastrophic update this week] look cleaner. What do you think about MAL becoming modern? Do you think it would be good or bad? Or do you prefer the old school version of the site? |

| For the MAL forums to continue and survive modernisation is necessary. Just look at what happened to the CR forums. All I want is that the modernisations keep MAL’s culture and identity, aren’t broken on launch, and provide options for users who want to keep the old look. So far they’ve been pretty inconsistent at meeting those aspects. |

| I don't particularly care about UI updates so long as it is not a detriment to functionality. Please do not introduce endless scrolling though. Otherwise, these updates have been fine. |

| Depends what you mean modernizing. I like feature updates but not every website looking like a mobile phone app. Thankfully it’s not totally heading that direction but some things like the polls are just ugly even though their feature improvement is nice. |

| It is full of bugs. When you post on a thread, you need to refresh the page to see your avatar, signature, and your posts' number. Furthermore, MAL stopped truncating vertically signatures by default, and the forums are now infested by those ridiculously big images (there is an example in this very thread). |
| It's incredible how they always try to "fix" the things that weren't broken and implement changes nobody ever asked for, while still never bothering to address the issues people have been complaining about for like a decade or so. |
| I like the classic look of MAL, but having a few modern features added is quite nice too. I just want the looks of MAL to stay the same or very similar to what they are now. |

| mobile-friendlyness, responsive design, these are good things that improve the user experience. but they got rid of the preview button for new reply which i actually used ;___; so ill say they are maybe killing UX to give a superficial appearance closer to sites with better UX. mb they do not have a dedicated UX designer (very likely, but you really need one) or said designer doesnt use the forums idc if the site looks like i stwpped in a time machime or if its hip anf modern, just, good ux please ;___; |

| Some things I like, some things not. I like the new profile themes and I hope some will also be added for animelists. I also appreciate the colors for report/quote/etc. Not a huge fan of the new quoting and the ability to redo votes. I hope they continue with the profile customization branch of things. |
