Felt so short. Don't like where this is going to, I would love for Phos to pray for themself only and leave them alone for eternity.
"I'll be done soon. If you wait nicely, I'll buy you some sweetbread." said Lawrence.

- I'll thank you not to treat me like a child.

"Oh, you don't want any?"

- I do.

I can't believe he is praying for them
I really really hope he doesn't cuz it would be the most disappointing ending I ever read

Hopefully next chapter we see that Phos was lying and it's what I wish to happen
Phos was way to serious to make their wish come true and I think that's why we don't see the end of him praying

Ichikawa is playing with our minds

I think this might actually be just another delirium. After all, the Admirabilis there really looked like Ventricosus and Variegatus. This might be just similar designs but I think this could be in Phos head, after all they did many setups on the moon in 96 to simply skip it already. Kongo and Enma mentioned something could be done in order to accelerate the 10000 year process, and in this chapter they say like this time has already passed. I believe this is more like Phos dreaming of what could happen. She's no longer at the beach and sees everyone bowing to her, just like Kongo always saw in his dreams. Besides, this new Phos transformation is quite off. Phos forms have always been very physical, clearly being able to tell how one goes to the other, maybe this is how in her dream she sees herself as something divine.

Besides, I genuinely believe the prayer won't be the solution to this story. In a way, to Phos the prayer wouldn't be different from a suicide, and most of the gems are only agreeing to it because they want to stay together but are all constantly bothered by their personal problems of jealousy, loneliness and guilt. And in fact, Houseki no Kuni already showed us someone who reached the answer. Sensei never prays for Shiro. He simply finds peace. I believe this is where this story must go.

Burn the bridge.

So, no more humans or human-like things. The end.

The author is more nihilist than buddist.

If Phos did ACTUALLY pray for everyone, I think that it's Phos' acceptance of her loneliness. Phos now knows that they were always lonely, from the first ever chapter to this one. Now that's not to say that Phos doesn't feel anger towards everyone. But, for me, this just seems more like being exhausted from all the suffering they've endured. Phos is so tired that fighting and vengeance just isn't worth it anymore. So, she prays.

Idk this are just my personal thoughts on it. I could see how people can feel it was rushed and underwhelming that Phos didn't get revenge. But maybe this can give some food for thought. Idk how the story is gonna play out from here but I'm excited to see what comes. Feel free to disagree.

(Though I would like to know what “burn the bridge” means)

honestly feel like ichikawa just wants to finish this and get back to gaming this probably will end with 100 chps and I seriously hope not when chp 96 came out I wished phos to turn against everyone by 97 I just wanted phos to not bother with anyone and by this chp I just hope phos gets a good ending which is nowhere near in sight

Phos actually prayed for them unless there's some kind of plot twist. I hope there is one cause the gems deserve to suffer for eternity after what they did to phos

Considering how there's one more volume to go, I'm assuming the prayer didn't work entirely. Or rather, not like Enma had in mind. Nothing explicitly says that the Lunarians are going to get prayed for; it could mean that Phos just prayed for themselves and dipped on them lmao.

I really hope there's a plot twist next chapter 'cause this ain't it chief. After chapter 97 and that "burn the bridge" panel I was expecting something completely different than what we got in this chapter. If in the end it really is a case of "Phos actually prayed and everyone lived happily ever after" then I'm gonna be real pissed and disappointed.

During this chapter, Phos promises the Lunarians nothingness after she notes that her having been alone on Earth for 10,000+ years had also been an instance of nothingness. Maybe she is going to strand everyone in their own personal universe for 10,000 years to make them suffer just as she had.

Then, as she waits out those 10,000 years, she might raise a family of Gem people of her own on Earth, and teach them to achieve enlightenment from within oneself rather than from praying to an outside power. Maybe all the Lunarians would find their own enlightenment during their 10,000 year solitude, as well.

One piece of early foreshadowing that I think might become important is when, in the first chapter, Phos thinks there were seven times the planet had been visited by meteors, when really, there had only been six. Perhaps Phos, like Kongo’s brother, is going to bring about a new rain of meteors.

Oh man the reactions on here and twitter are so different lmao

I agree with lots of you, I refuse to believe Phos' just gonna pray them away like that, it's too sudden to see Phos somehow someway just give in to praying in one mere chapter.

I really really hope Ichikawa just did a little bit of trolling lol

i dont think that it will end peacefully ( and i wish for that)

adamint mother mentioned to phos to burn the line of the other side(Which is the death and nothingness)
also in chapter 98 ichikawa talked about the line between everything and nothingness is blurred

so apparently phos will do something for that line
and leave everyone in a nex A new state of being
Not existence, not non-existence, but a new state
It would be a great and different ending if this happened

Sigh... What a serene conclusion. In a way it felt short. But in another way, I feel thankful for Ichikawa to not extend her story with more unnecessary drama. More good drama will be good. But it's as good as it is to end it serenely this way too.

Phos is, and always have been, alone. We were born alone, and we will die alone. Hah... That's just how it is.

So, Ichikawa is ending Houseki no Kuni as it seems. I wonder how the new world will look like with Phos in it. Or will there any world at all in that space of nothingness? Who knows...

I don't know why the people are so against Phos praying for the lunarians, this will stop the conflict for good and will permit new life to emerge. Without lunarians, everyone can live in peace

and now that I'm here I have a theory:
Phos' prayer won't work cause sending them to Nothingness isn't what it needs to be done. The story is about reincarnation, last chapter, the doctor talked about her dreaming of being a gem. So that means, with no souls, we can't have a world with beings cause they are all in Nothingness, there will be only Phos on Earth. Another thing, the prince said that on that certain asteroid, gem inclusions started to emerge, maybe those were the gems that perished (like Ghost Quartz etc), basically reincarnation of gem inclusions aka souls.
So I think that the lunarians have to reincarnate into the new beings, live another life, then ascend to Nothingness, why? because they were evil souls anyways, the good ones are already into Nothingness. Maybe that's what "burn the bridge" meant - send them all to Nothingness and remain alone (cause doc was insane)

Phos deserves all the love... Main girl has been used, abused, tricked and betrayed by everyone. It would be unforgivable if they hurt her anymore :( Hopes she gets her own happiness, not the kind you pray for but the kind she earns for herself. and the rats can just come to term with themself eventually becoming empty souls.

I loved this chapter, and I’m so excited for the last chapter in December! I really think that the past few chapters from the moon side and earth side provided so many clues and hints as to what will come next. I’m relying heavily on Phos’s last dream with the professor, or mother. The woman said “Once you’re on the other side, burn the bridge.”, and I can’t stop thinking about it! Is that a reference to nothingness, or is it a personal message? There was a comment below that chapter that speculated that the professor is Phos. What I mean is, what if it was the professor’s body and soul were eventually turned into Phosphophyllite’s original inclusions? Isn’t that how the inclusions work? I don’t know, but it’s an interesting theory. Poor cryptoid Phos is suffering, but I really want to know what happened in between the last few chapters. Somehow, in 10,000 or some years, phos went from a mercury-alloy mess and turned into that end divine body, how’d that happen? It was also clear that the island broke off a lot, and shrunk. Does that mean the school disappeared too? And Cinnabar’s cave? TRAGIC. If the quote from the professor was referring to nothingness…what does that mean? What really is in the world of nothingness, will Phos “burn the bridge” there? I think that they’re going to have revenge on everyone somehow, but there are so many possibilities, for example, the slave quote and the comment on the solar flare. Anyways, how did Phos survive throughout all that time alone? In the chapter with the lustrous on the moon, the last panel was of phos dripping in alloy, grasping their head. From that I’m guessing that Kongo’s eye has been replaying all sorts of memories, and it makes sense that the rest of Phos’s inclusions were doing the same, all those years. Has Phos been stuck suffering eternally inside of their mind all this time? If so, then how did they change so drastically into the calm new divine they are? Their physical appearance is also very interesting to me, in the past few chapters we went from maniac mouthless phos with cracks along their body and that weird golden crown thing, and then to disheveled, traumatized phos. After the fight with Cinnabar, they merged with a lot of their mercury, and was also dripping in their own alloy, but interestingly, their facial features changed drastically too. In the panels after their fight, Phos’s face started looking a lot more like Kongo’s, their nose, eyes, and jawline changed so much. Phos has a pretty feminine face, even with Lapis’s head, and even when they were mouthless and cracked, but in those last panels it changed to resemble Kongo. And that was even before they got his eye. It’s so fascinating.
I hope that this doesn’t go against any of the forum’s rules, I’ve never posted on myanimelist before so idk where this is gonna go. I probably won’t interact with anyone if there are responses to this comment either, again, I have no clue how forums work. Let’s hope for the best in December! <3 Pray for Phos, lol.
