| Steins;Gate 100% I feel like if we look at both from a time travel perspective, Steins;Gate is a lot more interesting. Theres a logic to the machinery, flimsy logic, but there's something to dig into. Instead of "close muh eyes now in fantasy world" and "muh checkpoints" Ok seriously what constitutes a checkpoint, it's never explained at all. Is it like based on a level of accomplishment? Like you beat this big bad thingy. What if I ate 10 taco bell burritos, and had a massive shit in my bowels. I pour my heart and soul into shitting this massive turd, I succeed and I leave the Taco Bell. Get hit by a car and boom back in the Taco Bell bathroom. What am I even saying, anyway. I also think Subaru is an imcompetant annoying brat which makes watching the show extremely painful. If you say he's meant to be that way, I must clarify that I watch anime for enjoyment. It's not very enjoyable to watch gore porn and obnoxious screaming for 20 minutes on end. Not to mention paper thin waifus, and I'm mainly just Emilia and Rem, but they get the most screen time anyway Oh yeah Steins;Gate I wouldn't say the character are that complicated, but since Kurisu know Okabe has slips through time, they can have genuine conversations on what their next step should be, which allows the bonding between the two to feel genuine Instead of "muh lap pillow" and excessive crying or whatever Man I'm being really harsh on Re:Zero, but I straight don't care that show sucks Have I rambled for long enough, yeah sure, what do you think? |
| this thread is probably gonna get locked but anyway yeah the two are very similar but Steins Gate is way better. Goes without saying. You can nitpick all the details but ReZero started with a lot of promise. Then season 2 came along and it just plain sucks and ruined everything. It laid bare the author's lack of talent. Unless the producers edit out his tendency to fill pages and pages of with superfluous dialog then season 3 will also be trash. |

| Both are overrated. They are not as good as many fans hyping it to be, there are a lot of better time slip stories. But ReZero S2 is a cringy trash, it's entirely on different level. |

| well steins;gate is obviously better but re:zero was actually one of my go to recommendations for someone new to anime if I didn't have an idea of what they wanted, just a general recommendation season 2 has changed my perception on that a bit but of note that I would not recommend steins;gate as an introductory anime |

| Why not both? Steins;Gate is great, but so is Re;Zero. They're just trying to tell different kinds of stories, and they both have their own strengths and weaknesses, so there's no need to compare them beyond "they both involve time travel". Just watch whichever one you want. |

| I mean, Steins;Gate wins hands down because it does literally everything Re:Zero does in a superior fashion. Better character chemistry and development, a more intricate, interesting and well-written plot that effectively builds suspense and foreshadowing, and worldbuilding that is actually fleshed out and utilized in a meaningful way with the plot. |

| Re:Zero has better waifu and the plot is actually engaging. I don't like time travel anime so I couldn't care less about the plot in Steins;Gates, at least in Re:Zero there is more to the plot with a bigger and more mysterious world. And I find Okabe more annoying than Subaru. |
| Yeah no competition for me I love Re:Zero but Steins;Gate is on a whole different level it also doesn't help that Steins;Gate is my favorite anime. |
