the ending of the 3-shot OVA.... completely anticlimactic. more or less the entire fucking thing was blade runner + ghost in the shell + terminator. very... meh.
It had it's moments. I kind of liked it, even though it wasn't really anything special story-wise. The animation and art-style fit me, and i also liked the music. Not the best i've seen, but far from the worst.
Well, that was certainly pretty anticlimactic.
There was barely any buildup to that ending scene, so it didn't feel very dramatic or impactful... Also, they could have done a better job of building up the characters.
Overall, this ended up being pretty forgettable.
The animation was nice, though...
This show was actually pretty good imo, very reminiscent of GitS (cyberpunk, art style, robots gaining humanity etc etc.)
A bit to much sex went on for me, but I loved the art style, music, concept and plot a lot! Sure it was a little anticlimactic at the end there, but the rest of the show was really captivating the whole way through, no ups or downs (hence no climax at end), just good entertainment the whole way through.
I really liked the first two episodes but the 3rd one was so strange. For the next time skip segment itmsaid 'five years later' is that in story or is that talking about how long the OVA took to release? I mean it did look like the 3rd one was made a bit later on just from how the cinamatics looked. Lotz of filters almost making it hard to see. I guess the end was okay but there was so much death it was depressing. The main characters just died off screen what the heck!? I kind of wish it just had the two OVAs. I like the previous episodes better. I'd like to know the dates when the ovas were made also.
I see Buzz finally held a gun and we got the story why he doesn't want one. That Sorime annihilated his team except Michaelson, too bad Kimball had to die because I kinda liked him as a boomer. That Sorime deserved to die like that, shameless in his undies.
Overall I thought it was okay and wasn't bad, but Buzz made a bland MC though and I don't get why Michaelson likes him. 6/10
How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb --- Dr Strangelove
This was pretty good. Not exactly sure how we got here from the first two episodes (which ended up being better than the 3rd), like I guess the Boomer-bug-fixing-drugs and distributed adrenaline systems only ended up being incidental to the final conflict. And Genom isn't really the villain this time either. Also, it's tonally very different from the original AD Police OVAs even if it plays around with some of the same imagery...I suppose entering the new millennium made people more optimistic about the possibility of Boomer tech, or something.
It looked cool though and had a likable cast of characters. Overall really tight production and nice visuals, perfectly paced for three loosely related episodes of this length. Would watch more.
(But why do the first two episodes look like they were produced quite a bit before 2002? It looks to me like they went from cel to digital with the last episode, which seems like something that would have happened back in 1998.)
The 3rd episode just had a different art director, taking 5 years to make doesn't make much (if any) sense, given that this is kinda a BGC2040 spin-off, which only got released in 1998. They wouldn't have started right away, and producing an OVA of this length doesn't take this long either.
Anyway, this episode was more "static" with all the dialogues, but the shot composition was nice. Grim story. Definitely looked better (and less dark) than the original A.D. Police OVA.
For an episodic format it needed an established character like the first AD OVA series or long enough to establish new characters like the AD TV series, I really didn't care enough about the characters after just 3 episodes to care about how things ended.
E[ic as epic one comes. Hidive totally slapping me in the face with must watch promotions and I indulged. So many Va's in this show I recognize. On top of that ols school story. Im a little embarrassed, I though going in it was new. Nope, it anime how I remembered anime growing up. This is story telling. Makes even modern anime look shit when it comes down to story telling
