Ley crushing the dreams of 38416+ people on MAL, always a satisfying sight to watch.

Overall a nice episode, covering the content of the novels faithfully and making the scenes stand out a lot with e.g. the memory flash and visual effects when Rem was attacked by Ley. Not to mention the song they used for the battle scene which was great. Subaru still sounds annoying unfortunately, but we'll have to live with it. From here on we'll finally dive into arc 4 territory.

What an episode, no OP or ED at all, that’s when you know that it’s a serious episode. Can’t wait for the next one.

When I read the light novels I totally imagined Regulus as being voiced by Ishida lol
Nice start to the new series I guess, but I wonder how long the next arc will be, I remember it taking seemingly forever.

It’s pathetic that Crunchyroll’s servers are so bad.

Anyway, after 4 years I can’t believe we’re finally here. I’ve waited so long to see this arc adapated. Re:Zero is back boys and what a great way to return with an amazing episode. Rem’s determination and belief that Subaru would come and save the day made me tear up. Loved that they included the IF route scene as well. Best waifu.

Obviously not an emilia fan, but the back hug moment at the end of the episode was beautiful as well.

I’m glad we didn’t get a cliffhanger and will instead get the OP and ED next week. Very solid animation during the gluttony and greed fights as well. So hype right now, can’t really form coherent statements, this is a dream come true.

Edit: I’ve seen people complaining about white fox skipping some stuff this episode, personally I think some of y’all are never satisfied and don’t realise anime and light novels are different mediums. It’s never going to be 1:1 but the most important things got attention.

I was wondering what the ramifications were going to be when Subaru went back after he killed himself (brutal btw) and while Rem still didn't make it Crusch faired WAY better in just losing some memories and not dying.

Side note: Crusch became my second favorite character after this episode. I already loved her but I love her so much more.

I think this episode proved again why Rem is best girl. However i still like Emilia a lot. She came up huge in this episode especially at the end.

Looking forward to seeing what happens to Gluttony, greed, and The endless Suffering of NATSUKI SUBARU!

I don't think Subaru's loop had anything to do with Crusch's results. She lost her arm, she didn't die, and they can use magic to reattach. Likely Ley did his thing with her after he ate Rem's existence.

A solid first episode, a great introduction to what made Re:zero a success, keeping its essence filled with drama elements and a great direction. I'm hoping this season will do a greater job in world building and explaining stuff that is still unclear.

I suggest you re-watch S1 then because a lot of things will be important and connect back to events in S1.

That will take too long... I'll go for the manga instead, way faster to speed read through em... the story from the manga and anime shouldn't be that far apart.

Great to see this show back and overloading the cloud servers of CR... Stop F5'ing with many users at the same time ;_;

Seeing the beginning of Season 2, it wouldn't cause any problem at all when you go from Season 1 to 2 and the transition to it is just flawless. They picked it up right where they left it. What can I say about the episode? Well, exactly what you would expect. Serious, death, saving... Good to see it again and can't wait for the next episodes.

You can watch the director's cut version which pack the entire 1st season into 13 episodes (of around 46 mins each).

So it will take around 10 hrs of binge to finsh.

You can watch & finish it this week easily before the next episode comes out.

I mean I feel like she clearly died in the first part. Rem closes her eyes on the battlefield and Felix is crying his eyes out when he sees her. He wouldn't be crying that much if he could easily reattach her arm.

I'm gonna be real. I hated the first season of Re:Zero, and I was told by some friends to read the novels since Arc 4 was gonna change it all for me. I put it off for months knowing that it would fail to deliver at all from my perspective but gave up a few weeks ago, and decided to read it from scratch all the way till the end of Arc 4.

I still hate the events of what happened in season 1 (the first 9 volumes except the final portion - which was adapted in this episode). But that final portion of volume 9 was easily the first thing I genuinely liked about the franchise as a whole. It was powerful, emotional and set up some exciting conflicts for the future with thrilling twists despite some narrative issues here and there overall. For the arc itself, it was around a 7 for me. A much higher score than what I would ever give previous stuff in the franchise.

This episode was the adaptation of that portion and while it is a big stepup from that season, compared to what I felt in the novels when reading it, it lacked the intensity for me. Something about it just felt flat from the emotion standpoint to the visual presentation.
Subaru's despair, Crusch and Rem's lengthy convo that got extremely shortened, and a lot of other mini details felt so lacking in compared to the novels that as an adaptation, might even be a flop version.

But I will still say even with a ton of issues, a much better episode than all of season 1 combined really (which isn't a hard bar to overcome). Crusch is my favorite character from the franchise so seeing her arm ripped off really quickly like that was brutal and Regulus was presented like a real prick which was good. Easily the best part of the episode for me was seeing how fucked Crusch and Rem were so suddenly against 2 of the sins.

I'm not gonna say this arc is brilliant for me, but it is a big improvement compared to how boring and sluggish the first season was. However, this episode struggled with me during the 2nd half and the emotion Subaru showed felt plastic in a way compared to the novels, something about it was really off with me, but I am curious to see how the rest plays out. A flatly adapted (in my opinion), but newsworthy episode here. Hope its better done in the future, especially with the dialogue, weight and pacing.

Damn, what an episode to start proceedings for Season 2. Re:Zero is finally back, thank God!

Revisiting the final scene from the Director's Cut definitely hit the spot once again. Subaru's mood swing from hundred to a zero was just so typical of the show and yet so powerful, I just love this show too much.

Anyways, that was a Crusch-sama I certainly didn't expect to see. But she did kind of get back the persona from earlier briefly so it was a short-lived experience, I suppose. Felix showing a lot more concern this episode which was least bit surprising but at least the treaty is still intact. That's Crusch-sama for you! By the way, how come she don't lose her arm in this timeline, Subaru couldn't have had any impact on events from there and I doubt the others would act differently for no reason.

It was nice to see Wilhelm-san be a bit more supportive to Subaru and Emilia-tan, I'm still hoping for that change in sides...

Sin Archibishop of Gluttony and Greed, huh? We got a little bit on Gluttony earlier from Puck and he's just as incredible as hinted. Damn, the VA (Tsukasa Eishi from Shokugeki no Souma, was the right pick for sure) was on point too.

Final scene was a really sweet Emilia x Subaru moment but seeing Rem like that takes away the deli-spice, sadly. "Come to think of it, I've never seen Rem sleep. She's always up before me and watching me sleep and etc." - Gee, those words really dig deep.

No OP/ED this episode plus slightly longer than a regular episode length (pity it's not an hour) was definitely the way to go. Can't wait to tune in to them next episode and, once again, Welcome Back Re:Zero! I'm so ready for this!

Is that freaking Kazuma I hear voicing Regulus...

Was great to see best girl Rem in action albeit not for long.
Wasn't expecting that small glimpse of Rem mama <3, full adaptation when!?!?

Crusch still lovely as ever despite losing an arm and memories.

Emilia comforting Subaru was really sweet <3, sad though Rem out of commission for a while ;-;
