I'm sure you'll be able to add this to your list of good CG shows. I would've preferred 2D as well, but Beastars couldn't be in a better studios hands for going the CG route.

After the Ultraman anime, I don't judge the CGI anymore. If it has a great story and likable characters then its a plus.

Bruh, this is being done by Studio Orange, one of the few studios that can actually do CGI properly. Houseki no Kuni was utterly fantastic because the CGI wasn't used to its detriment at all.

Lets hope so, I have been seeing alot of great CG anime lately.
Houseki and High Score Girl being the lastest.
I want to get into this series with the anime and later the manga, so hope this is at least a decent adaptation...

I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far in the previews.

As long as it remains at that quality or better, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

The cgi looks good tho. Seems like this anime and vinland would be the only anime that i watch for rest of this year :(

The CGI goes very well hand in hand with non-human characters and fantastic stories, a great example is Land of the Lustrous.

Beastars looks good with that CGI.

The 3D CGI actually works really well for this.
You all need to watch Nami.

Sometimes it looks like they rotoscope human gestures and plus use CGI and 2D too. And somehow everything goes very well together.

Guys do you by chance know any other anime using it like that? Or should I just browse Studio Orange animes?

Houseki no Kuni or Land of the Lustrous is Studio Orange's last big show that they released and has a lot of the same aspects that you mentioned. They know when to use close up 2D shots for more detail and blend them together fantastically. The fight choreography and general direction take great advantage of 3D environment and characters. But I'd say that that show does it to an even better degree(so far) maybe due to the fact that the characters in HnK are gemstones.
But as far as other studios go, I don't know of any others that incorporate all of the different styles and methods of animation together, much less to a competent degree, like Studio Orange. They either go completely CG, completely 2D, or 2D with 3D compositing/effects.

If there any studio that can make CGI look good it's studio Orange. After seeing their work in Land of the Lustrous I trust they'll do a good job here.

One of the best CGI i've seen in anime. It works very well here :)
Ushiromiya Battler, right now, on this island, no one exists except for you. You're the only one alive in this island. However I'm here right now, and i'm about to kill you. Who... am I?

it might look good compared to other cgi shows but ultimately it's still unappealing.
i haven't read the manga yet so i don't see a reason as to why i would even consider watching the anime

It looks better than the manga

well i'm not so sure about that
a stylized medium will always look stronger in 2d than in 3d for me

Yeah, no doubt.
I'm really enjoying the anime and it's obviously done with lots of care and respect, but in an ideal world, BEASTARS should've gotten the same treatment as Saint☆Oniisan and Doukyuusei.

Thanks! I'll add Houseki no kuni to my “plan to watch “ list ^^

CGI quality is good, but I had issues with the video framerate; it was hard on my motion sickness. I'm thinking of staying on the manga.
