| I heard we were gonna get some filler about his childhood or something. Since its from WIT I'm ok with it. Anything to make this even better. |

| It's okay. If there really was no explanation in the manga - then a wise decision as long as it doesn't ruin continuity. (Like ... showing him growing friendly with chars he suddenly later dislikes without explanation.) If it shows flashbacks in the manga much later they could just adapt them earlier. With AoT the studio did a great job. (In some season they also had some later stuff a lil bit as teaser.) Director-wise this one seems to have done some nice stuff. (Even though not always as main director.) I think we are fine if they keep this pace. |

| In the manga the episodes so far were flashback. As for anime deciding to start with flashback, I still don't agree as because of that anime lost out on the hype that the adaptation of the first chapter could bring but hype aside, starting with this flashback made it into a better story. The fewer flashbacks and time jumps there are, the easier it is to follow the story. Adding in some filler in here makes sense for anime. What else are they going to do, adapt the first chapter while 16-ish Thorfinn is already a badass jumping in the battle on his own... that's quite a huge time-jump from where the story in anime is right now. |

| It seems to be great. We'll probably see Thornfinn develop his skills and get closer to the group. Maybe we'll see some early raids too. |

| One thing is anime original content, which might be added or not into an adaptation because artistic freedom exists, and doesn't necessarily mean the events of the original are put on standby because they change or add some things. Some shows even show improvement over the source material with these changes. And then there's filler, which is very intrusive anime original content which main purpose is "making time" so they don't get ahead of the manga. Talking about filler only makes sense in long-running series like Naruto or One Piece, definitely not in something like Vinland Saga that will most likely never get anywhere close to the point of the manga, and even less after only 4 episodes. |
