If you are not familiar with the Parts earlier than Vento Aureo, I suggest you leaving this thread to avoid being spoiled.

The final episodes of Part 5 are close, which means soon we will have five completed anime adaptations of JoJo's first five Parts. It's a good time to ask which JoJo was your favorite? Bear in mind I ask you mostly about main character of each Part, not JoJo in general. Like, you can say Joseph is your favorite JoJo looking mostly at Part 2; you can like his appearance in Parts 3 & 4, but your opinion must be based on the Part which is the main one for a JoJo (in Joseph's case it's Part 2).

Mine favorite one is Joseph Joestar. Funny, friendly and innovative in the way he fights. He could perfectly find opportunities, even if they were based on sheer luck, to solve most of his problems. And he used Hamon. I like Hamon.

Feel free to discuss, both those viewers who are anime-only and those who are familiar with the original manga.

Remember it's a thread in Part 5's ANIME section. Therefore do not spoil things connected with next Parts.

And don't forget: every JoJo is the best JoJo, though some of them we like more than others. ;)

Anime Only: Can't decide between Jonathan and Giorno. Gonna vote for Jonathan to give him a small boost.

People say that Jonathan is a Boring MC but I say the contrary. He might be one of the least badass JoJo MCs but he has some stuff to him that makes him good. I think this is the One who's history with the main villain was more personal. The rest of the JoJo seem to have been dragged into their adventure by something else (Mostly DIO or the Aftermath of DIO's revival in SC) but with Jonathan it felt more Personal. This sis mostly becasue of his History with Dio brando and their Rivalry. I feel like his Journey is the most believable one. Or at least how it started and Why it started.

Second Place would Probably be Joseph or Giorno but I don't think those neeed more explanation.

Counting JoJos from the manga, I would say the JoJo from Part 7 is my favorite. He is by far the best One. Open spoiler to know more why if you don't care about spoilers.

I was torn between Joesph and Jotaro, but I've made up my mind, as Great as part 2 is, (all of parts are great for me), Part 3 had the most iconic Villian, best final fight, best stand (star platinum), and best Squad, the original Crusaders. so yeah, it's definitly part 3.

Joseph > Josuke > Jotaro > GioGio > Jonathan

Joseph is easily the most memorable and entertaining JoJo, on top having the most fleshed-out, well-rounded personality that some of the other JoJos lack.

Josuke and Jotaro are good main characters too, although I'd rank Josuke higher for being more interesting to watch. I think they both lack an aspect each that Joseph posesses; Josuke doesn't really go through an arc or change by the end of his story (granted he only appears in Part 4), and Jotaro's a bit of a one-dimensional character in Part 3.

GioGio is boring. I understand his personality is someone who's wise and determined to achieve his goal, but he hasn't got much else going for him besides his amazing Stand. We learn everything about him in the beginning, and that's it. He's also "supposed" to be Dio's illegitimate son, but they do nothing with that plot element. It's only there to explain why he already possesses a stand before taking the Passione exam.

Jonathan is also boring. His problem is every other Part 1 character overshadows him. Even Speedwagon. He's the real hero of Part 1.

Manga only:

Jonathan was a gentleman but was boring although I started to like him in last few remining episodes.

Joseph is funny and win by luck and some bs logic which were really entertaining to watch but I wasn't really fan of part 3 and 4 joseph expect his oh my god and engrish.

Jotaro is kinda edgy and has a soft personality but doesn't show it much, not my favorite but those marine biologist and him caring about koichi meme made me like his character and he's more better as a mentor than protagonist.

Josuke was a good character with high school kid personality but rohan was my favorite character from part 4.

Giorno is the most brutal jojo among first five jojo and has quality of both Jonathan and Dio, people do find him boring though but I like him the most.

But none of them are my favorite jojo protagonist if I give my manga ranking but if I have to pick anime favorite then Giorno.

Manga only:

To be fair, what makes Giorno great is mostly the symbolism around him and the whole part but well. I guess depending on which side you're analyzing him, he can either come out as really flat or really amazing.

Out of what has been animated and isolating them to the parts they are the main character, Joseph>Giorno>Josuke>Jotaro>Jonathan.

-Jonathan is just a little bland and "good guy is good" for me. Still fun to watch but doesn't hold up to the other main characters in the series.

-Joseph is great as the central character, but for me at least gets slightly worse when he is moved to the side character role. More because he really didn't have much to do rather just being a bad character or something.

-Jotaro is the opposite as I found him a little bland but noticed there was more to him that he just doesn't show very often, which did make him better. However, I really started loving him when he was moved to a side character/mentor role later on.

-Josuke is great. Good personality, tough when he needs to be, smart, all that good stuff.

-Giorno is a character that isn't for everyone. You really, really have to dig into the story and symbolism that surrounds him to really appreciate him, I think. He's a lot like Jotaro in that he doesn't show much emotion on the surface, but you can pick up on what he's thinking if you pay attention to him.

Joseph Joestar. I can't help but love a troll main character like him, and the voice actor being the same that voices Sakata Gintoki only makes it even better. I feel it's really sad how he

Don't know about JoJo 7 and JoJo 8 though. I have only read parts 1-6.

It's a hard pick, but my favorite JoJo would still be Joseph. I loved his silly ass-pulls in Part 2, really enjoyed his shouting game in Part 3. Still kinda a bummer Joseph basicly gotten reduced into becoming just a babysitter in Part 4. I'll never forgive the Japanese!

Jonathan... Well, it's hard to have a real deep connection for a charather we only have seen for about 9 episodes compaired with all the rest that recieved a lot more screen time, but we most respect the charather, because it's his story that started it all.

Josuke is the one that resembles me the most personality wise. The only big difference I'm introverted.

Jotaro; well, I didn't liked him in Part 3. I find him a lot better when he has PTSDio in Part 4 and on when he matured a bit.

Not really a big fan for Giorno honesty. But I like his MUDA's and WRRYYYY's.

It's pretty close between Jotaro and Giorno, but I would have to go with Jotaro. Though, since part 3 was the part that sold me on the series, I may be a little biased.

Probably Josuke if only because his quirks don' t compromise or make him an uninteresting character AND he has alot of great scenes. Jonathon can be summed up as a gentlemen which is fine, but I don't have any particular enthrallment with that kind of character in fiction. Joseph is an eccentric playboy, but I don't have any strong feeling towards him and his Jobro. Jotaro's cool I guess... Giorno is great, but there isn't too much moral ambiguity or drama in his character since his arc is technically finished at the start of the story.

Joseph > Jonathan > shit > Jousuke > Joutarou > Giorno

I haven't finished part 5 yet, but I don't think this one will change drastically: 33 episodes in and we still don't know nothing about Giorno, save the overused, but completely weightless "I have a dream" mantra and the fact he is the son of Dio. As if that was already not enough, the guy had a terrible character design, an asspull ability that can be used for literally everything, and lacks any real or meaningful conversations or interactions with the rest of the cast.

All in all terribad waste of a character.

For me it's

1. Joesph- I didn't really like him when he started out but he really matured and also became one of the funniest characters.
2. Jotaro- I like his character quirks (becomes a marine biologist and likes dolphins) I also think he matured really well from being angry and brooding to kind of quiet.
3. Josuke- His personality is pretty typical for an MC but he had some good moments
4&5- Jonathan&Giorno - They have the same personality so it's kind of hard to separate them. On one hand, it's interesting to see Giorno's personality in a gang but I liked Jonathan's death scene.

Yooo!

I always liked Jonathan. He's the most innocent and loyal JOJO out there. I feel so much pity for him. He had so much potential as a hamaon user.

However, Joseph takes the cake.

Joseph Joestar from battle tendency arc was an absolute mad lad.

Dude was soo crazy that he cause
Like who the fuck does that?

I like his charm and witty cleverness. His tricks and mockery in battle is what amuses me.

Such a goofy bloke with grit.

RIP YOUNG JOSEPH.

Old Joseph is more boring now and too serious. But his OHMYGOD, HOLY SHIT, and OH NO are hilarious.

So my verdict.

Young Joseph > Jonathan > Jotaro > Giorno> Josuke
