I know there are some games which stories just changed all. Stories that got us involved in for a very long time. Those stories became a really important part of your favorite video games library.

I'm just thinking about video games I really enjoy because their stories are simply amazing. This is my Top3.

- Last of us.

This story of a surrogate father and daughter fighting for personal survival, forging bonds, and looking toward the survival of the entire human race is at times triumphant and others painful.

- The Witcher.

The kind of story you will enjoy playing for 200 hours. No doubt. It's a complex but classic story of knights, witches, magic, gods, betrayals, transformations, and love. Put everything together and let the story both hits and subverts fantasy and adventure. You can't blink your eyes or you'll loose something important.

- Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
No Caption Provided
Probably the best game I've played in my whole life. Not only for the story (it's not another Link story more), but also for what it means to me (my early times playing video games).

Obviously, there are much more games to talk about (Bioshock, for example). What are these games you love playing because of their stories?

Well I can Name 3 Recent examples:

God of War 2018: The Story is a good Story about Kratos having to Face his past while taking Care of his boy as he travels across the realms to fulfill the Wishes of his Dead Lover.

PS4 Spiderman: well I can say that Spidey is at his best in Story in this game

And Danganronpa V3: Well who doesn't like Danganronpa?

These 3 have a very well Recieved Story in my eyes.
(and if you Disagree with me then feel free to say that to me)

I love how the story was paced out in Terranigma, plus it has probably the most satisfying combat in any action rpg ive played. I think in general the game just gives off this really epic feel few games can match.

I really like the way Fire Emblem Seisen no keifu uses the battlefield to tell its story, and I love the dark twists in it. Also helps that the combat is addictive as fudge.

While no game can beat Earthbound for me in terms of nostalgia Mother 3 was definitely stronger as a story driven game and I think in general its story just feels so unique and fascinating even though when I first heard heard about the story it sounded like it shouldnt work (but i guess the same could be said of Earthbound).

Lunar Eternal blue was one of the most all around solid rpgs imo and a significant improvement over Silver Star. It made better use of cutscenes and voice acting at a time when these things werent the norm.

I wanna mention DQ 3,4,and 5 which I think all three were very progressive in the developement of story telling in rpgs.

I wanna bring up Shining force 3 trilogy but I still havent beat it.

Life is Strange
The Last of US
Detroit Become Human
Also there is Dark Souls, but it's a story that you only "understand" after finish the game and read some theories... or if you are a real gamer you can figure out the story alone.

Best:

Drakengard/NieR Universe. (Drakengard 3 -> Drakengard 1 -> NieR:RepliCant -> NieR:Automata)
- I haven't played Drakengard 1 and 3 and NieR:RepliCant but I already know the story since I played NieR:Automata. (I'm willing to purchase Drakengard 1 and 3 or NieR:RepliCant if it gets remake or remastered in the latest PS console.) Although the story is a bit hard to follow, but digest it slowly until everything makes sense to you. I love how these games portray humanity although it's pure fantasy genre (kind of ironic lol).

Honorable Mention:

Persona 3
- Oh, boy. I never heard Persona not until a friend of mine lend me his Persona 5 PS4 disc. I enjoyed Persona 5 a lot, and of course when I enjoyed this game it's only natural to be curious about the previous Persona games. I love how this game discussed 'Death', because it's unavoidable. We are all going to die someday, but memories remain.

Collar x Malice
- Although majority doesn't prefer visual novel games much less of otome games (which mostly targeted to female players), but I enjoyed playing visual novel games. It feels like it's convenient to read games like these than hardcopy books (which I find a bit difficult to imagine what I've read). Collar x Malice isn't a romance focused (y'all it's only secondary) as it's focused in story where one will question what is right or wrong, what justice truly means, is the bad really bad?, is the good really good?

3. Persona 5
Very fun story.

4. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
Blood and Wine story is better than the main one.

Always absolutely loved the story and lore behind the Halo series. I think there's a good reason there's so many books and comics and other types of media that expand on it. Plus clearly the story of Halo 3 resonated with people considering when you ask people what's their favorite videogame of all time it's one of the most common answers (and that's definitely not based exclusively on gameplay since the next game Halo Reach was regarded as having objectively better gameplay). I also have very similar feelings when it comes to the Mass Effect series. Red Redemption had a fantastic story everybody loved as well, and that's in spite of the fact that it's a Western; something bores a lot of people. There's a lot of games with great stories, but those three definitely always pop into my head first.

The story is depressing, yes. But I got tired and bored of killing hordes of trash non-stop mobs, so I quit the game.

That's too bad. I enjoyed Platinum's fluid combat style so it wasn't that much of a bother to me.
