| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Great seeing the boys back again! I'm very excited to see what will happen this season. The new characters like Hiyori are quite interesting so far. I'm really happy to see Asahi and Kisumi get a lot of spotlight this season as they were really overshadowed before. Its great to see Seijuro on the same team as Asahi and Haru. |
| OP is same style as always. Main guy and that red hair guy meets up in same university. They met other members and that shark ex-leader. Mamo's character met a foreigner who can speak Japanese. Highschoolers have 3 new members. Oh, there's a new manager. The teacher always says a lot. Meeting Red hair guy's sister's cafe and talking about their memory. Hosoya-san's character's shoulder getting better. Highschoolers mentioning about Uchiyama-san's character and Hosoya-san's character mentioned about when he saw him in recap movie. A new guy, who seems to know Uchiyama-san's character, saw main guy's swimming and thinks he's copy of Uchiyama-san's character. At the new competition, he saw Uchiyama-san's character passing by. Short preview, then ED. The song is fun, like the special movie. |

| Too many bishies! Not having watched any of the movies I don’t recognize most of these new characters >_< I’m gonna miss Rei and Nagisa being main characters, that’s for sure… It’s been awhile since I’ve watched anime with university setting, so that part might be fun. Other than that I’m not blown away by the story so far, Ikuya seem like another lost kitten, which will be saved by a) water b) Haru’s freestyle Well, at least that’s what I‘m expecting. We'll see, I guess. Opening song is okay, but why are they having High School Musical routine in the ending?! xD Loved this shot <3  |

| I enjoyed this episode. The little moments were cute, like Nagisa sending a text message to Makoto. It was nice of Makoto to offer to share his notes with a classmate, and I like that there was still reference to our characters having girly names, when the classmate asked Makoto if Nagisa was his girlfriend. xDD I also enjoyed that other moment when Asahi said on the phone, "Makoto, it's me." LOL, I was fooled too because I thought that was Haru, and Makoto knew right away that voice did not belong to Haru. xD Makoto was so polite for simply asking who he was speaking to, and if Haru was there. It was also hilarious when the new Iwatobi members were taking photos that looked like mugshots, and poor Rei was still talking when their group photo was taken xDD Good to know Amakata Sensei is still quoting notable figures. <33 It was so coincidental that Haru and Asahi met when they were both on their way to practice. It's good to know that Asahi continued swimming after he moved away in middle school, and he also formed his own swim team in high school :)) It's good to meet Asahi's sister and she has a cute baby! We may meet her husband since he's a sports journalist. And we may see the cafe that Asahi's sister owns much more often, if our characters continue to go there to meet :) I also like that Haru had his usual monologue of the water being alive. If he was a prodigy at ten, a genius at fifteen, does that mean he's ordinary now at 20? Haru is still growing, and there's hope for his future :)) I like that I don't see a lot of anxiety now, which is what I commonly see with students in general. It may be fun to see Seijuro and the new characters of the swim team, interacting with Asahi and Haru from now on :)) Mihail may be a fun character. He can speak Japanese, and we don't know yet what role he'll play with Rin and Rin's swimming progression. I hope Rin doesn't feel too lonely in Australia LOL. And it's nice to know Sousuke's shoulder got better and he can swim for a bit! :) Will he finish that letter he started writing to Rin LOL?? And it's nice to see Sousuke and his cousin get along, and Sousuke doesn't have to worry about inheriting the restaurant since the cousin joked about even changing the name. xD Sousuke mentioning that he saw Ikuya swimming like Haru in an individual match is foreshadowing future problems >< Hiyori was rude for saying they're inferior copies of Ikuya when he saw Asahi and Haru swim. -_____- I know that Hiyori is Ikuya's friend, but Hiyori didn't have to call our protagonist an inferior copy :/ I'm curious about what Haru and Ikuya's reunion will be like! I love the look of shock in Haru's eyes when he saw Ikuya pass by. If I were Haru, I would have the same reaction too. When Ikuya passed by, he didn't look happy at all. He was listening to music prior to competing too. He looked very serious. I hope he's been doing okay over the years. |

| Wait wait wait only 6 people have posted on the first episode of S3 I mean is it that bad, I mean the art only is worth at least full page.... Kyoani shows deserve better than this. new season seems to be a bit more crowded than the last two seasons, but lets hope that the characters have good chemistry and give a great season. |
| So, I've finally starting this season, but before watching another episode, I'm going to watch "High Speed," so that I can have a better understanding of Ikuya and Haru's relationship. |

| ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars tip: if you haven't seen 'Free! Starting Days' (movie) yet, I definitely recommend watching it before starting this season. It'll help you familiarize yourself with Asahi, Ikuya, Kisumi, and some other characters who will appear in the season. - Ahhh, I really enjoy this series! All of the characters are incredibly special to me. That's why it's been so exciting for me to see the return of characters like Asahi and Ikuya in this season (and previously in 'Take Your Marks!')! As I saw in the episode, it literally was a nostalgia trip for both the characters and myself. I also thought the side-by-side swimming "race" between Haru and Rin was a cool visual. And when they looked to the side at the end, expecting to see someone swimming next to them... big oof. I can tell they miss swimming with each other. But overall, I'm excited for Haru and Asahi! They seemed to have easily picked up from where they left off in middle school and I know their friendship is going to be a great one. It'll be interesting to see how they'll react to meeting Ikuya again... |
