To commemorate its 25th anniversary in 2019, a website opened and revealed that light novel Majutsushi Orphen Hagure Tabi (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen) will be receiving a new TV anime project.

Synopsis
A sorcerer who was once the top student of the famous Tower of Fang, now spends his time chasing around his hopeless clients as a moneylender, at least until his client comes up with a plan to make money: marriage fraud. Unwillingly being dragged in to the plan, Orphen encounters a monster who has long been his goal since the day he left the Tower of Fang. Between those who seek to kill the monster and Orphen, giving everything to protect the monster, his lousy but peaceful days end. Trying to turn back his sister, Azalie, back to her true form leads to many more mysteries and the key to the secret to the world.

The series was written by Yoshinobu Akita with illustrations by Yuuya Kusaka. It began publishing in May 1994 and concluded in September 2003 with a total of 20 volumes. A manga adaptation with illustrations by Hajime Sawada published for a total of six volumes from December 1997 to January 2001.

Adapted by studio J.C.Staff, a television anime adaptation titled Majutsushi Orphen aired for a total of 24 episodes from October 1998 to March 1999. A sequel aired from October 1999 to March 2000 for a total of 23 episodes. Both series have been released by ADV Films in North America.

I've been waiting for this to happen and it finally did. The greatest sorcerer in the world is BACK!
If you see that my post is exactly 1 month old (or more) from when it was posted... Don't waste your time, especially when you want to reply with something petty & insignificant. Assume that I've moved on (because I have).

Holy..... I did not expect that such a series could come back.
This sure brings back memories from the 2000s when I first watched orphen, although I never expected to realy see anything new about this series

This is actually on my PTW list :o Interesting.

So it'll release in around a year so that'll be cool.

I'm excited for this. I'm definitely going to rewatch both seasons in preparation :) I love the character designs, so I hope this new adaptation doesn't screw that up.

It doesn't looks bad, gives me a classic JRPG vibe but I really don't like having "comic relief" kids as main characters, hope that they don't appear much.

I'll give it a chance if it's not a horrible remake like Houshin Engi.

Dang, I just watched the original like a year ago. It was way better than expected (though the second season was trash)

I hope this is a sequel, but if we must get a remake, hopefully it's better than Kino's Journey and Hoshin Engi.

I know, right? A lot of remakes have been sub-par lately (Sailor Moon Crystal, Hoshin Engi, Kino's Journey...)

I dont know about Kino's Journey because I watched only remake, and to be honest, I liked it, but SMC or HE was just.... bad. And Im so angry for what they done with HE. How could they butcher manga like this :/

Maybe it will erase the TERRIBLE MISTAKE that was Orphen: Revenge. <3
