the thing is: animals can't talk about interesting stuff

let's face it: the world is a disgusting place and most people are boring but a good and interesting conversation with the right person sure beats playing catch with a dog, hands down

Both are bad company. I'd rather be in solitude.

I don't really need to talk about interesting things to be entertained. There's something about having the presence of an animal around that both soothes and quiets the soul. I never feel lonely when I have my parrots hanging about my shoulders, simply because they're there and take no energy to be around, unlike most people.

Though this is coming from an introvert. For some, particularly the socially awkward, animals make better friends simply because they're easy to understand. You're right in that animals can't replicate the company of another human, however, and it's important to maintain healthy social connections with those of your own kind too.

Animals are easier to control that's one way to make your company better.

They can make better company than for the same reason sheeple make better citizens than people.

It depends on the people. Spending time with a chill dog is a lot more fun than having to tolerate a bunch of assholes. Having legitimately good or fun conversations is better than hanging out with your dog, though.

Friends can betray you, pets will never do that.
We love our pets like members of the family, how many people around you consider being that way?
People often feel more saddened when their pets are sick or die compared to people around them.

Well, depends. It's not a productive conversation if you lump all humans as one and compare that to a pet.

I'd much rather play with a pet than talk to some person I've got nothing in common with or if the person doesn't want to spend time with me. Put it this way, I'd rather play with a pet than have to hold a conversation with a basic bitch.

On the other hand, I'd much rather spend time with my friends than a pet. It's fun to talk to them.

That said, I mostly spend time with my friends outside and if I had a pet I'll be at home. There is no conflict of interest to be had here. Besides, if my friends come over, what the heck is stopping me spending time with my friends as they play with my pet?

Animals are better company duh. Or so says rl experience. They can't use swearings while talking to you, all in all that is the the best possitive.

Animals are better. They are unconditional. Meaning, they do not turn their back on you, ever. Like humans tend to do.

the answer is a lot easier than you'd think, it's the dependency. That animal you adopt ultimately is completely dependent on you for it's well-being, it quite literally needs you. That creates a very close relationship, as most people like feeling needed. Compared to humans, pets are far more reliable. That being said I don't think pets are a healthy alternative human interaction as almost always humans out live their animal counterparts and if you have no one else in your life you will be all alone when your pet dies.

So I take you have never experienced it. I guess you are lucky. I see it all the time (some friends, family members, etc)
I have personally felt betrayed when my best friend stole a golden ring from a drawer at my home. I realized it only years later. And all that time I blamed my cousin. Damn.

Haven't heard anyone say that in real life, but its possible that people. who have had bad experiences with a-holes, might prefer pets over people.

I don't like to talk much, but I don't like to be lonely either. That's why cats make a great companion. They give you comfort and they don't bother you all of the time. *I say as my cat bangs on my door*

Because as long as you treat them right, they won't just turn around and leave you. Most of them are loyal.

Can't say the same for people.

Because they romantize animals as "pure beings", which are "better humans" etc... and most of these people (just judging from my experience) don't even understand their pets. They humanize their pets so much, because they feel lonely, it's almost animal abuse in some cases.

I don't think one is necessarily better than the other. If you're tired of interacting with humans, animals are a good substitute. I guess?

Most pet animals don't have the capacity to be or understand loyalty, it's more like they recognize their dependency on you and act according to it.

Not everyone is as popular and as extroverted as you OP. Not every single person has good experiences with other people.

And honestly, who's even making the argument that "oh I'd much rather hang out with my pets than with friends" like people enlighten me. What's even the context to this argument bc it feels like just some random argument.

I'm not either, in fact, i'm quite quiet and kind of a wallflower but I consider that the one of the few good things in the world is human language.

It's true that animals can't talk, but some humans don't know how to shut the fuck up. Besides, I enjoy silence and being loved unconditionally so of course I'm going to pick an animal over a human.. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm more of an introverted person though.

I fully acknowledge that my hens are quite evil but I still prefer their company to humans. I'm sure that's solely because of my social anxiety though.

Animals may cannot talk but whats makes them a good company was they will never betray you. They will love you unconditionally, stay at your side.. unlike humans who always bark around and keep demanding things and the worst was they will betray you when the situation was unfavor for them. Some of them only think about there self. Smh.

Rather than people boring me, I'm the boring one here. It's always the other person who needs to come up with some topic or it gets really awkward. Added to that I just can't trust humans anymore, I know that they want something out of me otherwise they'll leave me alone.

I don't have to worry about anything when I'm with my pet, not about my appearance, not the way I speak, I don't need to pretend, it's just more comfortable than sitting with a human.

Animals are generally worry free, people can find comfort in being around them because of this, humans tend to slowly make other people nearby change to match them, it's why you see people with strong accents lose them after moving for extended periods of time, due to this humans can easily make other people nearby feel down, or affect how they feel in other ways.

Personally I like being around other people for a totally different reason to why I like being around animals, people give me different perspectives and new information, animals let me relax and unwind without being as troubled.
