I only rate after I finish an anime. Even if I drop it, I still don't rate it as that isn't exactly fair.
Also, I'm sure a lot of people are lying on this poll... there's way too many people that rate as they watch it.

When I feel like giving it a rating, I don't have any rule, I just rate it whenever I feel like it.

I usually rate animes after completing them. If not it's because I dropped halfway or because it's a long serie.

Usually when I've completed it (unless it's a sequel or something), but sometimes if I'm watching an airing/long show I'll rate it when I've formed an opinion, and usually no higher than 8.
So I can't vote on the poll.

After I finished with a few exceptions... I rate shows I've dropped or put on hold if I watched at least 4 episodes of it(regardless of the show's length).

After the second episode. If I feel like it, I'll change my rating as I progress through the show.

unless Im done with it, dropped or completed, I dont put it up on my list, so rating something before isnt an option.

I rank a show based on how much I've enjoyed it, so that usually starts at the first episode and I change the score around if I feel the need to.

I leave everything unrated unless it's a show i really enjoyed then i give it a 10 so its easier to find if i want to recommend it to someone or re watch a good show, i am also really bad at rating things.

I rate it after one ep, the rating while watching it represents only my enjoyment the technical side is only added when I complete something...
But there's a sacret rule when scoring while watching..... and that rule is to never ever give a 10/10 before completing anything.... it's a sin.

After I completed it for sure, I prefer to rate the entire show than how it's going "so far"

I rate once I have a grasp on how I'm enjoying it. And I'll change the rating if I feel like it, since editing your rating is an option.

I almost never rate on just the first episode, there have been a few occasions that I have done so. Usually when I drop it on the first episode or it's part of an on going series and it's the new season.

What is a tentative score based on what you've seen up to that point?

I rate an anime when I already watch half of the series and find it good and re-rate after finishing it but if not I rate it after finishing it

Usually I know whether I will like an anime in 1 episode. With well-described shows, I know it before I even begin.
If the show does better than I expected, or fails in some way, I can always de-rate it when I'm done watching it.

Why is it possible? Because anime keeps to a rather consistent standard of quality. It is also, usually, honest about what it is - by the end of the first episode, you would have usually seen the points which it intends to appeal with.

Note that some anime isn't so honest! Higurashi is rather infamous in that it pretends to be a slice of life harem about country life, and then everybody dies horribly. Every arc.
Mahou Sensei Negima pretended to be a harem comedy at first, but turned into battle shounen in a few volumes. (because the author and the editor had different opinions)

I always rate after watching the full season. There is no point for me in rating it early, because I have seen shows that were highly enjoyable but had such a shitty ending, I had to rate them lower than I expected.

Sometimes it is the other way round, the show is mediocre for 2/3 and then it rushes to epicness.

Rating before finishing feels like saying "sex is great!" after kissing :p

Well, it depends on the anime I watch. If it's a really good slice of life anime (which most of the time, it is) then I give it a 10/10. For anime similar to Black Butler or Black Lagoon, I usually give it a rating toward the end. As for romantic anime, it depends on how much inappropriate content there is.

If it's a very small amount, then I give it a 10/10. Alot and I'll drop it.

I rate an anime when I got my first impression, that I will think, "ah this anime is too..." or "ah this anime is good for me..." and etc. But I still can change my mind.
Nice to meet you.......

It depends, if we're talking about 12 episodes anime, i will start to give them a rating once they reach episode 4.. While for 24/25 episodes anime, i'll give it around episode 6.. and lastly for a long runner, usually i'll start give the score around episode 10-12..

Just slap a 10 on it before you even start it. You can't go wrong that way.
