I was supposed to do this like two weeks ago whoops Santa has now revealed exactly who submitted what present, click below to see who selected your gift....
I hope that everyone enjoys their presents, you can use this thread to discuss what you thought of your gifts if you like. I'll post the list of who submitted what some time after Christmas. Thank you to everyone for participating!!
------------
It's that time of the year again, and the Uber Elitist Club will once again be holding a 'Secret Santa'-style animanga gift swap! Participants will have the opportunity to share a short hidden anime or manga gem with another club member, and also receive a gift to watch or read in return. If you wish to participate, please read the rules below and post your sign up in this thread.
RULES
1. The deadline for submitting your entry into the event shall be December 10, which is also the date that the 'gifts' will be delivered to participants. If you wish to sign up, please respond to this thread stating if you would like to sign up under the anime category, manga category, or both.
2. Select a short anime/manga entry that you would like another participant to receive as their Christmas gift. For anime this could be an OVA, a movie, a TV series with five minute episodes, etc. For manga this could be a work with say, four or five volumes at the maximum, though this depends on the length of the chapters a bit. Just please do not submit any full length tv series/long running manga! Additionally, please make sure that submissions are stand alone (eg. you don't need to have prior knowledge of the franchise to understand and enjoy it) and don't submit hentai or lazy troll entries like Skelter Heaven or Mars of Destruction (you can be more creative than that!).
3. Once you have decided on a submission please PM this to me prior to the deadline. You don't have to do this straight away, just make sure you don't forget or I will have to remove you from the swap list.
4. On December 10 I will randomise all the entries received and assign them each to another participant. The present list will be posted in this thread and you will be able to enjoy the wonderful hand-picked gift you have received from a fellow uber-elitist. Some time later I will reveal who submitted what so you can know who chose the title you watched or read.
Any questions you have can be posted here. Thank you and have fun!
given the manga genre i got i'd say either meta or ducat picked this one. can you the santa that gave my amnga present tell me how many chapters total is the manga? mal only says it has 2 volumes, 2 different manga sites only have 4 chapters.

I have wanted to read Okazaki Kyoko's Pink for a while, so that should be a good gift for me. However, dear Santa, it is not a gift if it's not scanlated/scanned online. So I'll have to skip this pick.
Area 88 and Double Arts for me. Thank you wonderful people. I've been meaning to watch Area 88 as I heard great things. Time to pull the trigger. Maybe I can get my brother to watch it with me too. As for Double Arts- never heard of it. I'm excited to give it a read. I'll post my thoughts on them once I check them out.
Now I have no excuse to pass on Umasou and Voynich, thanks Santa.

Pink was released in English by Vertical, but not being able to afford it is understandable. River's Edge by the same author is on bakabt though, so you could do a little swap if you don't want to ruin your Christmas. (I'm not the one who submitted Pink)
It is not about not being able to buy it (though, admittedly, I do buy things online sparingly). It is about people not being supposed to submit something that is not available online for Secret Santa, whether it is manga or anime. As I said before, it is not a present, if I ought to buy it. We had that rule before, but maybe we forgot to explicitly state it this year. As for buying, I don't live in an English-speaking country, so I order online if I really like something (not much of a problem these days). Which means, no blind buying for me - I only buy something if I've already read it, be it a book or a comic (manga including ofc). The only exception is when something has extraordinary art (at least to me) which I feel warrants buying even if I am not sure about the content (example: Blacksad and Rabbi's Cat [I know, not manga, but they come to mind first]).
Thanks for taking your time to write the recommendation, though. I have actually read River's Edge and Helter Skelter from the same mangaka (I'm always on a lookout for josei works) and I've liked them but not loved them (I think I gave them 7/10, which is pretty good in my book).
But it doesn't matter in the end. I actually wouldn't even comment on my pick, but I wanted to tease my Santa who submitted that. I found some other interesting manga in other people's gifts, so I'll ste---borrow those - like Kagome Kagome or Toudo no Tabibito (I have no idea how I haven't noticed this work before) - as I always do with these events.

It's josei, actually. But, no, it's 20 chapters long and fully scanlated. Perhaps some sites don't have all chapters. You can download the manga from here or if you want to read online, Kissmanga has all chapters (I'm sure many other sites do as well, but I haven't checked).

Sorry, just to clarify. I kinda confused two Kissmanga sites (how many copycats are there?) since I used Google to check whether the manga is available on Kissmanga, and this is the one it threw out. For some reason, the other Kissmanga doesn't seem to have the manga, so I'm linking it here to spare you from searching. I don't know what's the deal with this specific manga not being available on well-know manga reading sites such as Batoto, Mangafox, Kissmanga, etc. It's certainly not licensed or anything of the sort. Perhaps the scanlation group is against it being spread around.
Btw, shout out to the person who submitted Kagome Kagome. I read it and it was such a nice and mature (no, not in that way) manga.
But sometimes, besides the anime you want to watch there is some anime that you just need to watch like Ushiro no Shoumen Daare. Thanks Santa, it was a great gift.
With all this fantastic new animation people forget about historical ones. I have filled my quota of WWII this year, no more war until 2018. ;____;
