I used to drop them but now I continue to either see if it gets better or to help me better appreciate the good ones
"I like young-girl sexual creations, Lolicon is just one hobby of my many hobbies," he says.
I ask what his wife, standing nearby, thinks of his "hobby".
"She probably thinks no problem," he replies. "Because she loves young boys sexually interacting with each other."

I can't drop shows/movies/anything really. When I start something, I have a compulsion to finish it. Very unhealthy.

Which is why I generally research before starting anything. Instead of dropping, I generally don't pick it up in the first place.

Same here, I haven't dropped any anime so far (except for One Piece but that was years ago, and I'm now considering giving it a chance) but I have somewhat struggled with a few of them.

I vaguely recall having a discussion about this with a couple of other people. In particular there was one guy that had a no drop policy and was vehemently defending it. My answer that I'll give will basically be the same as what I gave him.

Time is a currency that you can never get back, you only ever use it and once you use it all you die. With my work commitments I only have a small portion of the week to do everything else which is why I typically won't watch anime that I don't like.

Sometimes... if I'm watching online then I immediately drop it but if its being shown on TV then I may watch till the end. For example HxH 2011 and Baka to test.

I don't drop shows and I'm highly against it. I feel like I can't properly critique something if I haven't seen all of it. I suppose it's fine if you don't give a score to something you dropped (therefore critiquing it), but when people do score it AND do a review on MAL, it just feels dishonest when the whole point of a review is talking about the entire product. I finished Baccano, Angel Beats, Akame ga Kill, Btooom and Elfen Lied even though I hated them or thought that they were terrible. And I'm still reading and up to date with Shingeki no Kyojin even though it's pretty bad too.

No,Anime is a hobby for me because I enjoy watching it in my free time, if I force myself watching something that clearly I dislike then, whats the point?

So many similar threads about dropping shows but w/e.

No I don't drop shows at all, I feel so bad missing out on something I've started.
In fact I watch everything related to a show I start aswell, again just not to miss out on what's related to the anime.
Seikon no Qwaser was the worst anime I had to sit through, but still glad I finished it.

I started Yugioh because of nostalgia and yes I did decide to finish everything Yugioh related, even the horror that was GX.
Arc-V is alright currently but just getting tired of endless duels every episode, then again, that's what Yugioh is.

And ofcourse because I dont drop anything I take extra time when considering to watch a certain anime.

Nah, I usually watch shows that I know I'll like, hence why my average score is pretty high. At times I'll watch some shows I like just to see what all the hype and commotion is about.

Unless the show is an atrocious pile of crap, I might finish it even if I dont like it.

If it's torturous, then heck no I wont.

Pretty much this. If I start it, might as well finish it. It might get somewhat better, I tell myself, so I try to get through the first 3-4 episodes to see if I'm right.
Unless it's REALLY, REALLY bad. Then it goes straight into the drop bucket after the 1st ep (or sooner, if I can't deal with it)

I do for the most part, although I finally relented this season and allowed myself to drop a small amount of ones I knew I wouldn't gain any enjoyment from at all. I do intent on keeping it rather small though, and I might pick them back up at another time for the sake of it.

I've dropped a lot of anime. When I don't like something, I don't watch it, but sometimes I pick up the dropped shows when my mood changes.

I can understand why other people don't, but I do. A show/game/book/etc will itch on my mind until I can clear it out. The only shows on my "On Hold" list are shows that just didn't catch me enough to make me want to binge to the finish at the start.

If rarely drop a popular/high rated anime because I want to see if I find them as good as the other people does.

That usually leads to me finishing anime that I didn't like so atleast I can talk about them.

Also, every airing season has 2 or 3 anime that when I'm midway through them I realize that I just don't care about them at all, but since I'm that far I will just keep watching, this season they were Tales of Zestiria the X and Alderamin on the Sky, and yeah, I regret to keep watching both of them.

Same here.
I do it (or don't do it) for the sake of: "you gotta watch something terrible from time to time to learn to differ it from the good stuff later on."

...Or maybe I'm just masochistic.

Depends on the shows length mostly.

For 1 cour 12 episodes series I try to give it a chance until ep 3 as much as I can if the series can keep me interested even a bit I continue but if it ever gets boring afterwards to the point I don't enjoy it anymore I just drop..

For the long running ones like over 100 ep. I simply don't start without a recommendation or a high score. For eg. Gintama was mediocre at best until ep 25 then I suddenly found myself laughing my ass off and now it's my all time favorite anime.

I used to have something like an OCD, annoying like a sock left in the middle of the room, just one damn sock. If I started watching a show, I felt like I MUST finish it, it was bugging me. Then that led me to see some really and I mean really disturbing stuff. It changed me. What does keep you going, I can tell?

I'm probably one of the few that hated Mirai Nikki, just kept on watching hoping to see what everyone praised/liked about Mirai Nikki... sadly saw nothing that I liked even towards the end. The main protagonist and main girl I hated so much. There was like only a few characters I truly liked.

If I see no interesting element, no. Unless I am watching the animation because someone asked me to.

@Atlas77 Don't feel bad about St Seiya. The manga was cancelled (the author was given 2volumes to end it with no pre-publishing) and even now that the mangaka revived it, it has a terribly slow release and will probably never get the conclusion it was supposed to receive.
The anime itself was cancelled before the last arc and later reprised as OAVs but is now stuck at the manga's forced end. Plus it has a number of incoherencies due to the fillers implemented very early (it started very soon after the manga's beginning) and a full 26eps "original season".
And of course, because the new publisher, Bandai and Tòei decided to make a franchise out of it, it has a stellar number of spin-offs, alternative story, future stories, past stories, etc who only add to the inconsistency of the world.

Depends on the length and just how bad I think something is, but I'll try to finish something even if it's not great. I've always been the same with most media.

I guess partially with hope that "it will get better" since if I'm wasting my time on something in the first place it must have sounded interesting to me, so I do 'want' it to be good.

I also feel that if I get to the end of something even if I don't like it, I'll be able to more accurately say what I didn't like about it.

You see, some of the shows in my completed list and those from my drop list also have average and bellow scores. So what's the trick here? The shows I've managed to complete with giving bellow 6 out 10 either have a character I like(almost always the case) or something else to keep me going and finish it; while those on my drop list have neither any of that. I'd be nothing but a hardcore masochist if I kept watching them and the thing I could get in return was being heck annoyed by those shows.
