Alright, so far, it's pretty damn bad. Definitely an underwhelming debut episode to say the least.

To manga readers, does will this get good in the amount of episodes they have left?

This was a great first episode. It didn't adapt the entire chapter, but that's fine. It's getting time to breathe, and develop its own personality separate from the manga. I definitely enjoyed, the characters seem to have perfect voices as well. I can't wait to see where they go with this.

I'm just a little sad its only 13 eps. I was hoping I could get in at the beginning of a hundreds of episodes long series. But with the hype and reviews its getting, I'm sure future seasons are guaranteed!

Typical Shounen type anime.

I'll stick around to watch it.
Love how the MC is a coward though.
And still cowers down to others this early.

Its very realistic to be scared of those stronger than you, so I want to see him
still be scared - but not cower down to them in the future. Would be nice character
development.

MC cant start off being powerless AND super brave. Dude would have died by now. It makes sense for him to start off a coward and to grow an develop to still be scared but have courage and face his fears.

Generic first episode. But let's see where this goes.

Basically my opinion as well. I don't dislike it, I wasn't all that impressed either. I feel like the next few episodes will be better but atm it seems like your typical shounen anime.

Not bad for a first episode. I like the music and the colors. The series doesn't seem to take itself too serious, like how Midori gets bullied but still there isn't really a tense situation, except when they threw his notebook.

Anime only viewer here, and nothing really happens in this episode besides getting to know about Midori's powers and his backstory. All Might bleeding from his mouth does also seem to indicate something for the future; is it because he's life is in danger or Midori's power awaken that his arm is squeezing on All Might's leg too hard, I don't know. Let's see episode 2.

Man, what the hell? I'm still holding back my feelings and emotions, who would have thought I'll get that much in the first episode? Great first experience. I have never read the manga, nor spoilers so I had no idea what to expect but I got the huge surprise. Main character is a wimp but so lovable. Feeling sorry for him during the whole episode, too bad he can't defend himself yet. We'll see if he'll develop into the hero he wants to be later. Great start. 5/5

Loved the first episode. The art comic/manga style is a nice touch and I love how everything is so colorful. The OP was full of hype, so that's a big plus. The reveal scene about deku's powers was done so well.. I actually cried again to it.(qq)
All might was perfect and amazing.
Super happy with the anime so far, aaaa can't wait for more.

I have my money that this show will start out slow and launch forward quickly. Another anime like this would be Hunter x Hunter (2011).

On a good note, the anime can't be labeled overrated it, which is good news among the negativity, I guess.

Average 1st episode.... Reading the manga was more engaging than what I saw here.
I like the OP; I didn’t care about the ED.... This should be an alright series to watch every Sunday.

Anyhow, I’m not expecting much about this after seeing the amount of episodes... For a weekly-battle-shounen series that’s just sad... And please don’t assume there will be another season just because you think it will, or because it should. (you better start hoping that there is a pretty good boost in manga sales at this point, because I’m sure any thoughts (by producers and publishers) of a second season will ride on that and nothing else).... There is no second season until it is properly announce, simple as that.

Also, I read the manga and I don’t see any reasons for people to be hyping this the way they were (maybe it’s because of the superheroes theme, I don’t know).... Again, the fact that this is set to be 13 episodes long with no clear indications of a second season coming, makes any sort of hyping silly at this point.

I get why this is generic, but it took me a while to actually figure it out. That means it did it well. Sure, the guy's a wimp, but it's so nice to see the guy actually have some fucking passion towards something instead of being a mopy-dopy little shit.

The power shit has been done before, of course. When has it not be done before? Superpowers have existed since mankind started writing fiction. Maybe it's cause I'm a comic book fan, but I really like the premise. It reminds me of Marvel comics where instead of the humans being the main population, it's the mutants. I don't care how much that's been done before, it's still a cool concept.
Anime sucks.

This was amazing. I loved the art and animation... and the feels.

I guess they will only adapt the first arc, or maybe the first volume...
I wonder how many episodes it will take for the first chapter alone xD
Well, I hope they will take it slowly and make some sequels! :D

I personally don't see the similarities in the art/animation style besides them both being pretty good and the hero theme obviously but storywise and characterwise this will be a complete different series.
I find it similar, the coloring and shading is very similar to OPM, the way the characters are drawn too. SO yeah art and animation for me are quite similar

The colors are very saturated, character outlines are thicker/bolder, not much blending. OPM is a Action/Comedy Gag anime that takes nothing seriously. Don't really see the animation, art style, and atmopshere being similar at all.

But that's just my opinion.

First episode felt REALLY slow. I thought it was an hour special at first. The characters look...really awkward. But it has an undeniable comic book feel to it. Op and ED were.. eh.
But I know this is a good one, so i'll see where it goes from here.

I have been reading this after or before naruto ended (coincidence). Oh God bakugou is such... argh! But then i realized that good thing that "he" is there. I cant explain this excitement. Tbh i do want to drop this anime/manga but then It just gets so intense that I almost cant even sleep anymor. Ok straight to the point, people say that its "blablabla arguements" and theres this "Omg. What a wimp!" Like what the heck? The anime just started and you're just gonna say that? If I were in deku's situation I would do the same thing as he did. And the heck? HOW COME THE BUILDING WAS'NT DESTROYED AFTER THAT GIANT KICKASS GIRL JUMPED IN?! XD

This was alright.

I like the comic style the anime has occasionally, the pacing is okay it means they're taking the adaptation seriously.

I'm still rather hesitant about this series since I tend to REALLY not like MC's like Deku.

Well all I can hope for is that a majority of the fights deku is in is not the typical shounen fights where the MC get's the shit kicked outta him until either his friends come and save him or he get's a sudden power up and beats the enemy in one punch.
More like he kicks the shit out of himself
Manga readers will understand ;)

-I see a lot of people complaining about the pacing of this episode but it had a lot of content. A whole lot more than the first episode of OPM which felt rushed (3 chapters in one episode).
-Kacchan's voice actor did a great job of capturing his characters personality.
-This scene was so much deeper and more emotional in the anime if you ask me.
-the animation was good and should be better later on I doubt they would blow their budget on the first episode.

My first impression is that this is a great adaptation of 2/3's of the first chapter. I had forgotten how much information/content was given to us in the beginning of the series. I'm really excited for the series and can't wait to watch the next episode.

I Really liked the pacing, even though I thought the first chapter would cover the whole "Izuku Midoriya: Origin" from the Manga, but seeing how it was done I think they'll split that chapter in two full parts, and chapter 3 of Anime will be chapter 2 of Manga.

Because of the cliffhanger at the end of chapter 1 of Manga, and the way chapter 2 develops.

Since I started reading long ago I imagined Bakugo to have that seiyuu.

After watching the spoilers given in the OP its almost confirmed that they only adapt until the U.S.J. Arc leaving the Sport Festival out, so let's hope for a second cour.
I'll go easy...

I don't even know why everybody complains about the "slow" pacing. It has exactly the same pacing as Naruto Shippuuden. 29 pages of chapter 1 are roughly two normal chapters. And I don't see anyone who watchs Naruto complaining about a slow pacing. One of the things I liked the most about Naruto canon episodes was its perfect pacing.
If Studio Bones made the pacing faster, than they would have to adapt the first 44 chapters including the sports festival arc in only 13 episodes. How the hell should Bones adapt everything including the whole sports festival arc in only 13 episodes, that's probably the way A-1 would've done it, but then the adaptation would be worse than now. The sports festival arc is 23 chapters long, and some of you expect Bones to put all of this into probably 7 episodes.
I mean, only because A-1 and probably other studios produce Animes with fast pacing, doesn't mean that every anime should've fast pacing. I don't like A-1's fast pacing because they adapt too many chapters in too less episodes like they did with Erased and from what I've heard with Nanatsu no taizai.
The only real option left for Bones was to adapt everything including the USJ arc into 13 episodes. As the first few chapters are a little bit longer than common manga chapters (chapter 2 has 24 pages, a normal manga chapter has about 16-19 pages), it's about two chapters per episode which is the same amount of canon as in every Naruto canon episode.
IMO it's not slow but not fast either, the pacing is perfect.

Aw yeashhhh, that was a solid first episode. Really loved it. Made me laugh, too! I'm liking the style and OP is Porno Graffiti :OOO been ages since I've heard 'em (like GTO-times, lol).

Although the MC is suuuuuuuuch a coward, I can see he has some great resolve deep down and that's pretty great to see. Kinda like he's okay being the coward he is to some degree.

I'm pretty confident it'll get a lot better from this. No way I'm dropping this, I know it :D

Pretty good opening. The comedy is fine, I like the character design and the animations. Bakugou is an asshole, fuck. GODDAMN THE FLASHBACK IS SO SAD. All Might saves Deku from an enemy, it is fun how he's overshadowed, lol. The OST is so good. Despite it didn't adapt the whole first chapter I think the pacing is not slow at all. The reason why people were hyped for so long was the assumption that it'd be 2 cours. 1 cour sadly means that it wont reach the point in the series (half way into the arc after the anime seems to be covering to) where it got a lot more serious, then darker in the arc after that.

While this anime will be a very solid shonen, don't expect to see the full extent of why people like it so much if you don't read past where it will end.

To be honest i was gravely dissapointed for the most part, especially in the animation. This is Studio Bones goddammnit. They should have the means to make this anime nothing short of incredible, yet the animation is bellow decent; they're obviously working with a low amount of frames per second, and rely way too much on still images and motionlined backgrounds, where there should've been smooth animated sequences to to pep up the action, which is exactly what's needed to immerse the audience in an anime of this genre.
They constantly reuse images taken directly from the manga as keyframes (which is genius if done right), but fail to even replicate those images probably without making the characters faces look strangely crooked and off. They also completely fail to put in any even above decent content in between said keyframes.
Repeated movements are used on background characters (on the rare off chances where they actually DO move), and goofy cartoony sound effects are used to simulate humor in scenes where we're supposed to feel for our maincharacter.
The opening theme, which is a fine song performed by Porno Graffitti, was at least accompanied by a DECENT music video, but not exactly anything to write home about. Meanwhile the animation for the ending theme was downright lazy.
While the manga has thoroughly refined art and an incredibly original and recognizable style, the anime looks flat, rushed, lifeless and completely robbed of atmosphere. It honestly baffles me how a whole animation team (with a great history of former works) can do such a poor job, where one man made a masterpiece of a manga.
So far this anime seems more like a castrated version of the manga and less like a professionally animated adaptation.
I hope to see something more impressive in the future of this anime, but with the way that things are now, i can't help but remain sceptic.

I was really looking forward to BnHA cos how quirky the MC looked and I'm not disappointed at all! After one episode I've already fallen in love with Deku but seriously hate Katsuki. I hope he becomes a Knuckles type character (becames good later) so I don't hate him too much. :/ He doesn't have the attitude of a hero and he annoys the jeebs out of me.

I actually enjoy the childish style / theme of the anime. It is what it is , an enjoyable shounen anime.

I'm excited to see how much our Deku will grow throughout the series. (":
