alright, so country music exists. I've been kind of stumped on why it exists for a while, when it occurred to me that some people might genuinely like country music.
so this was a revelation. I hadn't seriously considered the possibility before. I just didn't think it was logical.

so my question is, does anyone on mal genuinely enjoy listening to country music? and why?

of course, everyone genre of music is filled with crap, but I've personally noticed an overwhelming amount of crap in this particular genre. for instance, this is an example of country lyrics that country music fans seem to legitimately take seriously:
why?

also if anyone happens to have some fun facts about how people acquire a certain taste in music, those would be appreciated.

I so agree with this above. Hank Williams is the only person I really like though. But I know zilch about country anyways.

I cant stand Taylor Swift either. Shes Haley Williams mixed with Dolly Parton imo. Cant stand either or.

country music is like, legit garbage, and I have a huge musical palate, that not only ranges across genres but also countries. Alternative country or indie country can be good, but country on it's own (like Tim Mcgraw or whatever his dumb red neck name is) is crap poop

I grew up with a father that listened to nothing but the country from the 90's, and a grandma that listened to the oldies. I like Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, johnny cash, etc. I can't stand the new shit though. Luckily, I exposed myself to Punk Rock, metal, indie, alt rock, 80's rock, grunge, and everything else good in the musical world, otherwise I would be totally screwed up musically, trying to win women's hearts with a tractor and a beer.

That's a tricky one. My answer is usually, basically a "no," especially newer stuff and the type that seems like pop country music or whatever. However, there are some older songs that if I hear it that won't be so bad, plus sometimes Johnny Cash or some Mike Ness/Social distortion songs that seem country-ish or country-influenced.

I do know quite a few people that genuinely love country music, which may be at least in part due to the fact that I'm in more of a rural area.

"They found that empathic people tended to like mellow, unpretentious or contemporary tunes such as Norah Jones' "Come away with me" or Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah." This kind of music included country and folk songs, which is most likely where my recent obsession with country music factors in. "

I hate 99% of it and I live in Georgia in the United States, it seemed for the longest time almost all the radio stations were country and you would hear country music everywhere, it was annoying. In the past couple years I have have two retro stations that play classic rock music but most of the radio is still country.

The only somewhat Country songs I kinda are by John Denver (one of his songs was bizarrely featured in the anime "Whispers of the Heart") though his songs were more Folk than country.

I hate most country though from what I've heard on the radio it's mostly about beer and tractors and stuff.

Country Pop is even worst because it's twice as annoying.
