Time you randomly jumped into an anime and it was totally worth it

So I have a ton of anime on my plan to watch list that I know nothing about, most of them end up on there because of vague recommendations. Whenever I start an anime I randomly choose one from the list and check it out. This time via random selection I got Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun and man this show is a GREAT time and I adore all that I've seen so far.

Anyway, is there an anime that you've jumped into completely blind and ended up loving?

Oh yeah I also watched Anohana completely at random last year and thats one of my all time favorites. These risks can pay off big because I'm not sure I would've watched either of these shows on purpose.

I'll add that to my list, this is how my arbitrary process works.

Most of the anime I watch are picked at random, including my favorites. Anime like Death Note and Code Geass are the only ones that I already had strong opinions of beforehand, yet I didn't even like those as much as other anime. I often add anime to my PTW for little to no reason, but some of them are great and I'm glad that I don't stick to watching stuff that a lot of people have already watched.

If you're looking for recommendations, all five of my favorites are great anime that I jumped into blind.

I have shows like Code Geass and FMA Brotherhood on my list because I've heard nothing but spectacular things about them, but I won't watch them unless they're randomly selected. Luck of the draw.

Kind of like going in raw. It can be 'totally worth it' or the other way around.

Are you saying that you use a random number generator or something like that? I've never tried that method before.

I watched Acchi Kocchi because one of the episodes was suggested to me on Youtube. I think that's pretty random. I enjoyed it.

Lol nah I wish my method were that efficient. I go on my list, close my eyes, and start scrolling up and down while moving my mouse around like crazy. I stop and whatever my cursor is on is the anime I'll watch. Its such a dorky thing to do but it gets the job done.

Everything I watch is dependent on this site really. Every since I've joined I've tried to find more ways to incorporate it into my viewing experience, and its made me more inclined to watch anime than ever before tbh.

I haven't seen a lot of movies where it didn't come from a show, but recently I've been watching Shinkai's works. Never have I seen art made so realistically beautiful. (kotonoha no niwa or the garden of words, his most recent work)

Recent case regarding Himouto! Umaru-chan 3 weeks after it aired.

After the latest episode, it's now my AOTS. It's the only show this season that hasn't left me with a bad feeling yet.

Initial D First Stage was a pretty random pick for me and it ended up being a really nice ride.
It didn't have animation that was anything to write home about and the same could be said about the art, but boy, did it have great atmosphere helped by the music making the races in the show a real blast.

Hehehe, nice pick :p.

After watching Shoujo Kakumei Utena, I decided that one lesbian anti-patriarchy mindfuck was enough at a time and picked a show for the action and titties. And I watched... DUMDUMDUM... Kill la Kill !!!

Needless to say, 3 episodes in I was like "OMG this char is totally X from Utena ! Wow there's also a phallic tower ! NEED TO FIND ALL THE SYMBOLISM RAAAARGH !"

I pretty much jumped into anime randomly, so there's that.

Recently I watched Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Noragami quite spontaneously. I loved both of them.

AoT, Kokkuri-san, Gintama, Hyouka, Monogatari series were all random titles I saw on anime sites that I watched just for the heck of it. I don't regret a single episode of them. ^_^

The World God Only Knows. I expected some crappy generic harem but it turned out to be way more entertaining and interesting than I thought, despite not having much of a story for the first 2 seasons. Season 3's story was a fail though, with how they rushed everything and left plenty of plot holes everywhere... I'd rather they either kept the whole thing formulaic like in previous seasons or made it 2 cour.

hey dude, totally off-topic but if you know where I can find some Area88, I'd be glad to know. Searched a lot but found nothing, and Area 88 SNES is probably my favorite shmup ever :3.

Patalliro.

I heard it was one of the longest-running mangas of all time, which roused my interest. I checked out the 1980s show and was greatly entertained and amused by it.

I seldomly read synopsis' anymore before watching a series, lol. Most recently, I'd have to say Princess Tutu. I literally knew nothing about it aside from the fact that it would be about ballet. Loved it.

Gakkou Gurashi is twice as good if you don't look up anything about it beforehand. As an added bonus, you'll only need one episode to know whether you want to watch more or drop it.
Now you're wondering if there's white text in any of my other posts.

Over there, I'm everywhere. I know that.

Ben-To, it turned to be epic... while I was just looking for another comedy.
The same goes for Kill la Kill and Punch Line. No regrets.

Mmm, at the current season I'll say: Monmusu and Jitsu wa...
I just saw one episode and ran to read the manga to keep laughing.

And... I can't remember any other totally random choice that worth mentioning at this moment.
