| I can remember when a man in Quebec was jailed in Germany for this salute outside of the Reichstag. He was only jailed for a day though then given a fine. 3 years may be the 'maximum' punishment, but it's not as if that's what he actually got and nor is he likely to receive such. I do disagree with this law but, I don't feel sorry for him. As a German citizen he would be well aware it's illegal and he's not making some protest for freedom of speech, but instead is merely trying to be an asshole, towards people protesting. This is something that depending on the rally, can actually get you arrested in the US as well. For example, bringing a hangman's noose to a civil rights rally can and has gotten people arrested. |
