MAI LIVES!!

Looks like what we feared would happen to each of Hei's charity cases, doesn't. Which makes me very, VERY glad. Mai certainly is an awesome character, though I don't know if we'll ever see her again.

I suppose they made up for Mai not dying by killing all those other people o___o

Guy's head getting cut in half <3 This show's certainly shaping up to be awesome.

Considering the last conversation, I doubt we're going to be seeing more of her.

A good episode though.

This was a good episode. The guy's head being cut off was indeed awesome. It would be cool if we see some more of Mai later on. Looking forward to the next episode.

Side note: The slice and dice made me think of Elfen Lied, but Lucy was totally cooler than random Contractor dude.

Mai's storyline was sad but awesome... glad she at least doesn't die, but at the same time I'm feeling the point that was made earlier in the series about Contractors having no consciences, might be true. Maybe Hei is different? (or maybe he's just a really good faker...?)

this episode = <3...everything about it was well done...the dramatic conclusion, the two cops being eliminated with excessive violence as mentioned before, the side story about mai, and more info on contractors and moratoriums...

i also agree that hei does feel compassion...we've seen him willing to take a bullet for that girl that lived next to his apartment in the first two episodes (even though he was allowed to kill her) and he shows his caring side again in this episode when he saved mai...i find it ironic that even though he obviously feels human emotions, his face is almost always emotionless...

the only thing that disappointed me about this episode was they didn't show what hei has to do after using his powers, his obeisance or whatever...i always just assumed that he had to eat a lot, since in previous episodes, he ate a little too much for his weight, but i need confirmation...

Well, he didn't have to do much in this episode, so maybe it wasn't necessary for him to eat yet.

Anyway, awesome episode. The art is just amazing. As a guy I really like how they've drawn the Porsche as well as the Infinity and the Mazda RX7 seen in the preview. The rest has already been said.

Looking forward to more!

Excellent episode, as usual. The slice and dice of the policement... well.. wow... O_o A lot more graphic than I had expected...

And Mai... T_T poor poor Mai... the guilt of killing one of your best friends... T_T and then having to watch her father die... T_T I do hope we get to see more of her, later.

I loved the scene when the cops get cut up. The guy looking down at his severed hands was fabulous.

Another great episode. I didn't realize before this that contractors are actually born that way - I had assumed they were people who had sacrificed their humanity for special powers. (I'm kind of slow.)

Anyway, the plot thickens! Can't wait to see what happens next. :)

MAI IS ALIVE!!! YAAAYYY!!!

That was a pretty good episode... but it was surprising that she turned into a contractor and all.... it's a fairly interesting series so far... and I love Hei's mask!!! He looks like an ANBU >.<

Aw, they smashed Hei's awesome mask. D:

Mai lived! Sweeeeet. She's pretty awesome. Creepy little girls FTW! Her song in the end reminded me of something Road (from D.G-M) would sing. O.o i hope we'll be seeing more of her, but judging by the last bit about the Heaven Gate and whatnot, probably not.

That bit with her dad was so sad, though. D= Poor Mai.

Okay, this reminded me of two animes. The father experimenting on daughter part reminded me of FMA. I think it was one about a girl named Nina T^T and the slice and dice part... Elfen Lied xD I dislike gore and too much violence though, tbh :x ain't dropping the show nonetheless <3

how did i survived this long in the otaku world without watching this anime, it's awesome!

i thought Contractors were people who willingly "sold" something too, but i guess it's ok if not all the information is revealed in the first ep; i kinda like animes that take their time. and the father experimenting on the daughter, that was totally FMA!

side note: looks like we're having Storm from X-Men guest-starring next ^_^...

Whoa, the scene when she burnt Yuka was intense o.o Somehow, it made a bigger impact on me than the policeman-slicing one.
Glad that she's still alive, I hope we'll see her again.

The only thing that didn't sit so well with me was did her friend and her friend's father both get burned alive? If I don't see a smoldering heap of burning flesh, I will assume that they both quenched the flames before it got out of control. But that bothers me... Nonetheless, great episode. Will continue ASAP ^_^

the police one was still WTF for me (i had to watch it twice to make sure i was actually seeing what i saw.) i guess it was more emotional for the friend becuz, well she burned her friend, the same one that said she can come over for dinner.

Why not?

The episode was very well made, totally fitting my taste. I'm totally grateful to the director that he didn't kill Mai. She even ended up as a contractor - I couldn't want anything more. When the scientist spoke about what's happening with the moratoriums I decided that Mai is totally doomed no matter what - first I(like most of the ppl in MAL) was thinking that they're gonna go with 1 newcomer dieing each two episodes, and then the fate of Mai went out. Well yeah, I admit that I was totally surprised. Too good it was in a good way.

Anyway, I can't stop thinking that Huang is total rip-off from Wolf's Rain Quent(aka Pops). And the opening song... I'm associating the vocal with the one from Sengoku Basara's OP for some reason.

Haha the big question was if Mai was going to live. I wonder what they're going to do with her now that she's just a contractor. At least I think that's what happened.

So glad we got to see Hei in his bad ass form, I hope to see much more of it in the future!

Also, did Luco's ability remind anyone else of Elfen Lied and Lucy's vectors? xD

Amazing episode and a perfect end to the 2 episode arc.

I'm glad Mai lived and Hei got rid of that contractor.

I'm getting more and more interested about the "Hell's Gate" and those flowers.

Also, Hei being a badass as usual was epic.

Still in the beginning of the series, and already some of my pressumptions have been dashed. I was under the impression that Contractors come about through a pact the person made in exchange for power, but it seems like they are born that way! And dolls are maybe another type, and not born that way but turned after certain events?

This episode made me interested in the anime now ^^
Also, I was very sad and felt for Mai when she accidentally killed her friend and the father, and also when her own father was about to kill her and got killed instead.

I love this anime already. It's kind of like a cross between Batman and The 4400, but as an anime! (With a talking cat for good measure)

Hei is just badass! The trenchcoat and mask get-up reminds me of V for Vendetta which definitely isn't a bad thing. The way he kills people with a wire and electricity is really cool! Plus he's acting as a normal guy during the day (when he's not hunting Contractors) all the while doing detective work, which is where the Batman analogy comes in.

The storytelling and pacing is great, because most of the episodes are two-parters so it gives room to breath. I wish more anime did this instead of cramming everything into 20 minute episodes!

I really enjoy the action and overall scenery and animation, but what else can you expect from BONES :D
