It sold pretty much exactly the same number of copies as the middle part of owarimonogatari did in its first week, but with 1 fewer days. As that is the 4th bestselling volume from the series to date, we can expect this to be one of the better sellers as well.

It says in the wiki, that it was released September 17, so it had a full week.

It sales have decreased some over the years.

I didn't know that, thanks for the info.

What are the top 3 best selling of the Monogatari novels, if you don't mind sharing?

Sorry, I was mistaken - it's 5th. I was looking at a version of the list with missing data for Kabukimonogatari.

Koimonogatari, Koyomimonogatari and Tsukimonogatari are first second and third in that order, from the sales figures we have. Assuming this volume isn't unusually front loaded, it looks as though it has a good shot at taking 3rd place on that list.

Regarding Fairy Tail - this volume did 245k in 5 days against last volumes 237k in 4 days. In October last year volume 40 got 265k sales in 4 days. So yes, the sales are dropping over time. That's fairly normal, though.

True but it sells are rising a bit atm. They were down on 185k sales at first week. Now with tartarus Arc they rised slowly up to 245k at 1. week now. If Hiro keeps on the good work they will stay rising^^

Man Monster Musume has really become popular know, especially considering with so many Harem Titles out there almost all of them never show up in the top 50 and even if they did it was most likely becuase of the anime adaptations, considering it does not have one (yet) it is quite an accomplishment.

Tokyo Ghoul is still selling well despite the botched adaptation of the anime and will most likely continue to chart when the next season airs.

Also glad to see Gekkan up there. if there is anything that is pure comedy gold it is that one haha:D

As for LN SAO is still selling as strong as ever so no surprise there

Happy to finally see Hitsugi no Chaika in the ranks and that new volume is finally out. That is underrated gem in my book. The next volume. 11 should be out in December and conclude the story and should end it exactly as the same time as the anime with vol 12 released in March with the ova being mostly side stories. you can always count on Bones to adapt a series to the fullest even if they sacrifice the animation budget to produce more episodes.

The Hajime no Ippo link takes me to Full Moon wo Sagashite haha.

Tokyo Ghoul is selling so well. As a non-manga reader, I definitely want to see another season. I might pick up the manga, but then I'll most likely dislike the 2nd season's adaptation if there ever is one =P

It certainly has been a while since it last appeared on the rankings. That said, this is just 2 days of sales so we'll have to wait for next week to see how it is actually doing.

Thanks. I'm glad to see Koi, being number one, and looking forward to the final season hopefully being animated, I can sense it's going to be a bit different, in terms of atmosphere and structure than the seasons before it.

I was more referring to it's sales over the years, I thought I used to see it, sell 350k+ in it's first week. But I researched a bit on it sales on 2011 and 2012, and looks like I'm wrong.

But it's yearly sale ranking did drop, although that has a lot to do with new big hit series appearing (SnK, Magi, KnB, etc)

*8. *77,454 *,*77,454 Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi Vol.58

Great to these up there again. Not sure if this volume of Fairy Tail includes THAT amazing run of chapters (best of the year for any series), the cover can be deceiving but anyway fantastic. Best FT arc yet deserves greater sales though, Hiro Mashima just keeps upping his game with the Tartarus arc, don't know how he does it.

*2. 33,937 161,536 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Vol.14
*6. *9,888 *55,430 Strike the Blood Vol.11
*7. *7,694 303,936 Sword Art Online Vol.15
14. *5,038 **5,038 Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu. Vol.7

Also great to see these up there. Still hoping for S2 of Strike the Blood and Mahouka, Twintails also ranking, very, very much looking forward to the anime.

This shows just how little data (Oricon does count up to rank 500 for Bunko and Books!) we have because of the relatively high thresholds for light novels and books. Even after the recent addition of the Light Novel Top 20 list... it is still not nearly enough.

Weekly Series Sales vs Weekly Charted Sales

Strike the Blood: 13,327 vs 9,888
Haikyuu!!: 13,462 vs 9,540
Sword Art Online: 25,546 vs 7,694
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: 69,874 vs 37,945
<Monogatari>: 97,664 vs 96,609

Weekly Light Novel Series
*1 97,664 <Monogatari> Series (<物語>シリーズ)
*2 69,874 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (魔法科高校の劣等生)
*3 28,318 Date A Live (デート・ア・ライブ)
*4 25,546 Sword Art Online (ソードアート・オンライン)
*5 13,462 Haikyuu!! (ハイキュー!!)
*6 13,327 Strike the Blood (ストライク・ザ・ブラッド)
*7 12,505 Hataraku Maou-sama! Limited Edition (はたらく魔王さま! 特別編)
*8 10,017 Cinderella Wedding (シンデレラ・ブライダル)
*9 *8,328 Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? (六畳間の侵略者)
10 *7,286 Mitoushoukan://Blood Sign (未踏召喚://ブラッドサイン)

And for the manga.

It's selling really well, why did it end like that?

All of that was already planned by the author, there's a lot of hints already, one of the most obvious one being chapter 72's title which is "Halfway". I'm glad the popularity of the manga didn't affected the author's decision to end it like he planned to instead of dragging the story. The chances of a sequel are pretty high though so I'll be surprised if it doesn't get one in the future. Looks like we'll have to wait for the announcement in October regarding the series or after the second season of the anime if the announcement will about that instead of the manga sequel.

Ao Haru Ride:
Volume 10: 235,903(3 days), 419,435 (10 days), 540,575 (31 days)
Volume 11: 440,604 (7 days) 543, 534 (14 days) 595, 811 (21 days) 631,986 (28 days)

That makes it a ~91k boost for Ao Haru Ride. With some more including the limited edition which didn't rank. And there is a small chance that this volume might rank next week as well, which would put the boost over 100k. And volume 12 might increase the boost too, time will tell.

Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii:
Volume 6: 31,700(7 days)
Volume 7: 52,955 (10 days)
Volume 8: 38,021 (3 days)

Good for SoreSekai too. Its managed more in three days than what volume 6 did in one full week. Not to mention this also has a limited edition, so there's bound to be another 5k or so. Let's see how it does in its week 2.

Here are the weekly Manga & Light Novel rankings for September 15th - 21st

Rank / This week's sales by copies / Cumulative sales / Titles

Manga
*1. 251,434 *,585,581 Kimi ni Todoke Vol.22

Light Novels and Anime/Manga related books
*1. 90,800 *90,800 Monogatari Series: Final Season Vol.6 "Zoku Owarimonogatari"

Yes! Could expect adaptation for all the monogatari series.

Praying Tsugimonogatari to come out so I can buy it too.

Kimi ni Todoke is doing well, not bad too.

They ranked last week:

Honestly for something that is a re-release (umpteenth time) of something that came out decades ago and the anime hasn't even come out yet I think that's a pretty showing to rank even once. A second week when they sold 33K last week was unlikely as most people buy them the day they come out.

Watch for them again after the anime starts.

No, he didn't write Kizumonogatari. He wrote Tsugimonogatari which is the first book of Final Season.

Kizumonogatari movie WAS supposed to come out years ago and is the missing piece of the First Season of Monogatari. But it is quite separate from Tsugimonogatari though of course... related... but I won't spoil it here. Final Season anime is going to be awesome! While Kizu will be great too honestly I am more looking forward to final season, especially OwariMonogatari.
