| Puck is kinda annoying reminds me of navi, hoping he dies at some point. The ending was pretty creepy looked like the ghosts were trying to turn guts into some kinda super undead thing to help power him up to get their revenge but he rejected it. Also the ones I felt bad for the most this chapter were those poor guys burying the bodies, here they are just doing their job and guts comes along and kills them lol. |

| This is already pretty great. I'd heard that the series didn't really get good until the Golden Age arc, but I'm liking this so far. Guts is already a pretty fascinating lead, loved the scenes at the execution and afterwards. The idea that he sees a lot of himself in the doctor was pretty cool. "I won't fail, like you". I'm thinking the ghosts tried to possess him near the end? |

| This chapter was better than the last, it really captured some of guts insecure feeling about "fighting a unbeatable fight" But yet continues on as the struggler. |

| After seeing Vargas act all nice and concerned for Puck, I couldn't help but feel sad for his predicament. I was sure that Guts would've saved him last second with a crossbow bolt, but the twist was he didn't and instead felt the guilt of not being able to do anything for someone who has gone through a lot like him but has no combat experience whatsoever. It's reasonable because there were hundreds of guards but it didn't make it any less despairing. Puck's comic relief lightens up the mood and the heavy feeling in my chest while reading, actually. I like that it doesn't overwhelm me by shifting the mood a little and not ruining the atmosphere for me. Guts is such a tsundere lmao. Telling those souls who want to team up with him to fuck off because it's his fight xD |

| In a typical fantasy story, the hero would swoop right in and save the day. But this is not a typical fantasy story. The saving would have probably had to happen much sooner anyways. I'm glad puck is here to shed some innocence in this grim world, but Guts is what's necessary to actually cause change. |

| We finally see guts struggling with is emotions, the final was weird I wanna know how the brand works. The only problem I had in this chapter was the beginning it was a bit slow. |

| This chapter seemed to delve into Gut's insecurities and self-reliance, in contrast to the other characters. Lord Zondark, consumed by his thirst for vengeance, succumbed to the demon's influence. The Count was also previously overtaken by the demon. Both characters were driven to their downfall by their dependence on an external malevolent force. Similarly, Vargas was waiting the whole time for somebody else to enact vengeance for him. Guts, on the other hand, relies exclusively on his own strength to achieve his goals, viewing any help from others as a sign of weakness. Despite Puck’s observations that Guts has some sympathy for Vargas, Guts stubbornly refuses to relate and accept that he, too, might be fighting a losing battle. A sense of remorse is further emphasized by his encounter with the dead spirits. Although he acknowledges their victimhood, he remains unwilling to empathize. Guts consistently distances himself emotionally in order to remain focused on his personal struggle. While this emotional detachment may feel necessary for him to stay resolute and continue fighting, it's made clear that it's also taking a toll on him. The panel featuring the Five Godhands was pretty cool. The most unsettling aspect however, was the looming eye watching from above. |
