I love that video. That guy's a famous Japanese actor who loves One Piece. He's even on here as he voice acted in Redline and Howl's moving castle.

I will concede defeat for now but still take that map into account. That map shows you Dragon Ball's reach around the world. The One Piece anime will have to air in as much countries as that in order to be as popular as the Dragon Ball series worldwide.

See that's where you're wrong as where you reach =/= how many people you reach. It of course affects it, but is not a prove all. And other things like manga do come into play, the people who read manga could be more than those who watch the anime. Meaning even if One Piece loses in tv ratings, it could win in manga sales and possibly win it all, hypothetically(so I don't want you correcting me about manga sales here).

Well when it comes to popularity I like to take everything into account (manga sales, tv ratings, merchandise) and as you said hypothetically more people could be reading the manga over watching the anime. We don't have any proof of that.

Popularity is always an interesting subject, but I will step in to say that popularity carries more weight in the presence of choice.

I wonder if people would think more highly of Bleach if Ichigo had some kind of goal or motivation (besides protecting people) in the beginning. I've seen a lot of people claim that it "has no plot" for some reason. Not talking about people ITT; just in general.

I don't think so. My biggest qualm with Bleach is the fact that Ichigo practically has no personality, is apparently very special because he is not only a Shinigami but at least three other things because the plot needs him to be that powerful so that he can be the hero that fights the big villain (and wins) at the end of each arc. On top of that, in my opinion, Bleach has some of the worst written characters in the shounen medium. Most of its characters are very gimmicky and have only that gimmick to really define who they are; they simply do not have their own personality and are only there to be used as plot devices.

I doubt anyone can really answer it generally because it is nearly impossible to know what the general audience wants. As people, we only have our own opinions to go off of and that of course, will be skewed in one way or another.

They are still not as big of a problem as the entirety of the Fullbring arc imo.

I still don't get how people can hate the fullbring arc yet like the arrancar arc

The fullbring arc is the only serious and mature arc in the serious. It's the only arc that focuses on ichigo as a character. It's the only arc where soul society don't come to save ichigo every time he's in trouble. It's the only arc excluding the soul society arc that gives development to inoue and chad. It's the only arc with no asspulls.
