| There are plenty of anime that have done that, but isn't that what they try to do? I doubt many people drop an anime after the first episode unless the genre is not something they enjoy. But if you mean "I'd instantly watch the second episode", pretty much all of my non slice of life (these can start very boringly) 8-10 because I'm extremely greedy with my anime :P Seirei no Moribito and Eureka Seven were probably the most hook-to-the-brain at the time I watched them. |

I don't think it was because they had especially brilliant first episodes, more that the combination of concept, atmosphere and art style (and in the case of Cowboy Bebop, music) grabbed me so much that I couldn't stop at just one episode of them. It doesn't really happen that often for me, a lot of the ones on this list I watched and got hooked on quite a few years ago. |

| Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Death Note, Bakuman, Attack on Titan and, mostly anything really. Some anime such as Ikki Tousen didn't really get me too hooked. The fights were cool, but it got pretty repetitive after a while. |

Sword Art Online (still waiting for this gem to be dubbed before I watch completely) Code Geass There really isn't much that made me want to kill for the 2nd episode because most good series that I remember watching start off pretty slow, so I'm usually hooked within the first 3-5 episodes. |
