One word: Onii-cons. Why does every little sister in anime have to have feelings for her older brother?! It drives me NUTS! I swear "onii-chan" has got to be the most irritating word in the Japanese language, ESPECIALLY when spoken by the girl with a high pitched voice...UUUGH!

Its either :if the sister is younger shes completely infatuated with the brother, is shes older the she cant stand/detests the brother at all. Rarely is there any middle ground whatsoever.

there is nothing "weird" about it, also this thinking seems to be a lot more common in anime fans for some reason
Edit: and I mean more of a guy not liking josei/shoujo then actually just liking shounen or seinen

When I look at an anime/manga/novel on any site on internet shoujo is placed at genres. That's enough to know for a filthy casual like me.

And...it's weird for me to like what normal guys like?

Extreme hentai/ecchi elements and bestiality, but thankfully that is rare.

I care more about how cliches are done, rather than complain about them as a whole. A cliche isn't inherently bad if it's done in moderation.

Doesn't this kind of topic already exist? Just to know.. :s
Anyway...

10-)The Pokemon Arcs
When the anime/manga uses too much the same plot arcs.
Going to nowhere places->Helping unknow characters->Beating the badguys->Making a party->Going to an other nowhere place->...
Like in many Shounens.

9-)The "Gentleman" spirit
When a male character doesn't ABSOLUTE want to hit a female character and bitching others male characters who "are for gender equalities".
Like Sanji.

8-) The "Snatch" Moment
"Have you ever crossed the road, and looked the wrong way? A car's nearly on you? So what do you do? Something very silly. You freeze. Your life doesn't flash before you, 'cause you're too ****in' scared to think .You just freeze and pull a stupid face"
When the badguys, even the most badass, smartest one, does nothing when goodguys use last-breath attacks.
Like Lucci-Eneru from One Piece, Shyn Sheron from Dragon Ball GT.

7-) Godlike Powers and Too "Choregraphic" fights
Like many shounens again and many Mechas like TTGL (and like RWBY...god this show is overrated)..

6-) "Highschool vs Fantasy" plots.
Like most of animes/mangas with fantasy and highschool plots

5-) Fanservice (erotic or bloody) Overuse.
Like To Love Ru, Highschool of Dead,etc...

4-) The "Power of Friendship" or "Mankind is the Greatest Race of Creation"
Like Fairy Tail, Dragon Quest: Dai Quest,...

3-) The Big-Head Jerk and The Psychotic bitch/ Samurai Schoolgirl
Like Kamina (God I hate him...), Zekka, Dark Scheinnder, most of Akama ga kill female characters, Yuno from Mirai Nikki,ect..

2-) The T.H.A.C.O.D (Teenage Handsome Action Character Overused Design)
When all characters are the same "pretty thin young teenage" physic with "odd clothing tastes", "rainbow style hair" and "Eternal angel face".
Like Sword Art Online, Blazblue, Tales of and Shining franchises, nearly every Nomura Tetsuya works...

And my most hatred cliche is...

1-) The "Monster Slaughtering"
When huge badass monsters are just here to be raped by teenage character like nothing....
Because:
-I'm huge fan of beastiary and I always damn fell sorry for the raped creatures...
-I'm sure I'll find most of cliches I've pointed above...

Like Blood-C, Fairy Tail, Crimsom graves, Sword Art Online, nearly every Fantasy animes.

I think I can resume all of those by one: when the anime/manga is going to be over-the-top.

Made up statistics are another cliche I was never fond of.

Shoujo is too encompassing of a term to mean anything concrete despite its target audience. Escaflowne is shoujo and the movie portrays graphic violence and gore far more maturely than most of what's coming out today, especially torture porn such as AgK and Tokyo Ghoul.

Quite frankly the good guy is really bad, and has a good relationship with them. With the acception of very few animes the ending is pretty clear before you even finish it. At least to me it becomes very annoying. If it is a original it will still be hit with cliches and endings most anime fans have soon far to many times.

Kiss interruptions, they usually kill the plot progression in romance anime for a good few episodes, for the purpose of shoehorning a dumb joke.

Chuunibyou and Nisekoi were both very guilty of this, especially in their second seasons.

-dere characters. I'd prefer my characters to actually be unique and have depth (or at least be interesting), rather than being one-word, flat, boring, one-dimensional, annoying stereotypes.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.

Tsunderes being overly Tsundere at the most erratic moments after teasjng the audience with a strong possibility for a relationship. At that rate, there's no excuse to act overly defensive about actions, keep being annoyingly untrue about their feelings during trivial moments, or etc. There's a point where being overly flustered and untrue to their feelings gets annoying and stagnant.

Explaining their own powers or strategy to their opponent in the middle of a fight. This might only be okay if done by an extremely arrogant character, and even then it's just silly.
When the protagonist suddenly gets to have a long speech or dialogue with another character while the enemy just stands there, doing nothing but patiently watch.

maybe reviving old thread here but i essentially hate everything about anime, but still love to watch it. i cherish the anime that has as few cliche stereotypes as possible. i have watched 100's of anime in my days, i dont even remember 90% of them so ill start listing shit that i hate the most.

same character types in EVERY anime such as the glasses silver hair guy thats super smart and cool.

big brother/little sister complexes,

every anime is about highschool kids that for any reason have to save the F'ing world.

zero training hero/pilot

naming your attacks

the oops i seen you naked met with over reaction, the oops we bumped into eachother and some how my hand always ends up on your boobs then results in over reaction and punch or smack

harems, especially when there is a clueless MC, and freaks out at any sexual advance or physical encounter (hate it the most, lets be F'ing real here). this is one thing i liked about "school days" it was realistic, even though u hated the guy for being a POS, but hay i have been him a few times in my life.

for some reason parents in anime almost never live at home with their damn kids, i mean REALLY?!

MC's are always sooooo caring and protective, even to people they just met. its gross, but then again im american.

overly predictable scenes.

i dont mind useless characters, they are filler, not every character needs a purpose to add substance to an anime.

F!@KING BEACH DAY EPISODES!!!!!! AND OBVIOUS FAN SERVICE!!!. - id like to take some time on this. i do like nudity in anime, i do like a lil service, i HATE pointless unnatural fan service, its a ploy to hold a viewer base whom is losing interest cause the plot is thin. but i do like a lil service, mostly when it seems more natural and realistic, fuck your closeup panty shots, and jiggling bouncing boob run scenes and women prowling over MC, get rid of that shit. AHHHH

most others have been covered

These are the worst. Or a shoujo that has no romance progression or kissing until the end or none at all. If you are going to make a fucking anime about romance then how about you do an actual normal relationship progression. Normal relationships don't exclude holding hands, kissing, expressing love verbally, and having sex. I will never understand for the life of me why most shoujos build up a romance where the characters are dating for like years, but don't know they are dating and don't even hold hands or kiss the entire anime... just WHY is this a thing? If you resort to this, your a shit romance writer, plain and simple.

Also the misunderstandings, most of those don't happen in real life and we don't need a misunderstanding every freaking episode. If you have those, your a shit romance writer unless its realistic.

In harem, I am sick of the fall and grab a girls tit and then the mc goes on to keep squeezing and describing what it could be in his head instead of just looking at what he is doing.. stupid. They just need to eliminate this shit altogether.

The MC follows a weird training programme and suddenly becomes so powerfully that he is virtually unstoppable.

Examples - Running behind a money (Goku), Following a basic workout routine (Saitama), Cleaning trash from the park (Midoria) and plenty of instances from other mainstream shounen anime out there
