A powerful episode. Lots of new things are revealed to us throughout it...

Anthy is unpredictable right until the end huh? Amazing...

Wait...So Dios isn't real?! D: Noooo my prince! I feel betrayed, haha.

We are now at the End of the World Episode.

So Utena is fighting to be Anthy's prince as she apparently can't take care of herself, while I'm not really sure what Akio's goal is.

Without a goal for Akio and not really being all that invested in Utena and Anthy's friendship this fight is hard to be invested in.

Very funny ending though.

Still haven't a god damn clue who or what in the hell Anthy and Akio even are? Was Dios ever real? Was the memory of Utena's childhood real? A projector is not a satisfying answer for all the stuffs that's happened in this series. Now I have to see the last episode straight away.

That was surprising move from Anthy, I think I had something like this on my mind before battle started.

Amazing episode, one of my favorites ever.

Love that what Saionji told Utena the castle was turned out to be true.. just an illusion based on light! Amazing.

That cliffhanger is devastating. Imaging waiting a week to watch the next episode..

No more princesses, Cinderella rebels!

The ending though, why would she do that? Guess, we'll know next episode. Going to watch it ASAP.

Oh, it's the Kashira/Gogai girls giving the preview, nice.

I kinda expected Anthy to betray Utena sooner or later, she was cunning throughout the whole series, she's got to have some motives, it'd be weird if she had a sudden change of heart, just like that... Nevertheless, I have no idea what's her and Akio's plan, what are they aiming for? @_@

Only one ep left, I can't believe they left all of this for the last episode, how are they gonna wrap it within 20 minutes?! And they didn't even show any footage in the preview. I'm getting worried!

Also, Anthy's eyes suddenly going white just like that made for the worst jump-scare I've ever seen in anime lol, it legitimately frightened me!

So Anthy's with Akio for good. Does that mean that all that heart-to-heart talk with Utena was staged? Creepy... ...and i'm still confused what's the point of all this illusion Academy/World

i'm getting NTR vibes from this, I felt disgusted watching Utena literally get stabbed in the back by Anthy as she goes to her brother. I hate that feeling

I really love these big brain time moments. "You didnt reject me even though I have a fiance" yeah thats sounds a lot like not my problem but yours. But that pales in comparison to the real big brain time when he calls her a child. Lmao lolicon.

Whats interesting in this duel imo is that Akio used Anthys sword like everyone else did at the beginning and Utena uses her own.

This shit all being a next level projector suddenly makes the fights weirdly more real. Only missing thing now is the spectators driving around at the edge sometimes.

I dont quite follow but this is really really good in the end.

So the castle is an illusion.
Nice projector.
Kinda makes me think of the people that say we live in a simulation and the earth is like a matrix, a very advanced hologram.

How much I wish for Akio to just say his motives and stop with the damn ambiguities. Him spitting fact after fact about Utena's hypocritical attitude was kinda entertaining tho.

Regarding the episode's ending, Anthy's "betrayal" sure was an interesting twist. Leaving the obvious option aside, the one of her being a cunning bitch all along, I will go with saying that she actually decided to save Utena by preventing her from winning the last duel. Given that we still have no clear idea about what "revolutionize the world" entails for the ultimate winner.

Well, Touga did warn Utena about Akio AND Anthy.
He sure did. On rewatch this entire dynamic ends up being really, really fascinating. (I mean, the whole show does, obviously, lol.) But Touga has quite an arc through this part.

This episode was fascinating and foreshadowed. We all knew that Anthy was a witch, and Touga warned Utena about both Akio and Anthy.

Though Akio and Utena dialogue was peak. Akio is right that she saved Anthy due to her own ego. He kept telling Utena that Anthy chose to be the rose bride. It brilliantly mirrors when a lot of white feminists try to 'save' Muslim women from wearing the hijab. Notice how Utena never tried to rescue the other women in dresses, similar to how white feminists never try to rescue nuns. They only assume that Muslim women are the ones who need saving, when a lot of them choose to wear the hijab to honor their religion. That's likely why Anthy stabbed her in the back.

Yet I do like how Utena rejects Akio's blame for her getting manipulated. Yes, Utena did sleep with him, while knowing that he had a fiance. Though at the end of the day, Utena is still a child while he's an adult. He groomed her and manipulated her. She's right to call him a bigger scumbag, when there's an obvious power imbalance and age gap, where one has an undeveloped brain.

Helluva cliffhanger. Akio is still full of it.

Utena tried tons of times to get Anthy to open up. It may have been about ego, but Utena wasn't selfish at all in my book.

You know Utena is a prince when she can take accountability for being jealous when she had no right to be. If only that was the same way the real world works.
