Don't you want to see her happy?

i am one of those fraud otakus who doesnt have a waifu

i got no 2D game

^

I cant get a girlfriend, much less, a 2D waifu.

You can just tell a girl you like her. Don't even think twice about what she may think of you.
You will find someone who is willing to give you a chance.
After that you are on your own lol

Too much work.

Someone played Arcanum recently.

And to answer your question: science.

One thing I never got about Arcanum is that canonically Tech is beating Magick in their world, yet gameplay wise magick is OP and Tech is quite sub par. :v

You know this because you have been to a world of magic? or at least studied the nature of magic? :/

Sure. I've studied a few sacred scrolls of Roddenberry and Tolkien.

We have microscopic particles zooming through the LHC, boxes that make screens light up. flying machines based on aerodynamics, vehicles that can take us out of the Earth's atmosphere. Sure, it has a different flavour to 'fantasy magic' but I always viewed science as our own form of magic. We're taking control of the universe's properties and using them to create things. The only reason fantasy magic is so interesting to us is because it's unknown. If we lived in a world of fantasy magic, I think we'd have it just as figured out as we do science, and we'd view it to be just the same.

I think it's more the setting that I romanticize over, with fantasy settings and even alternate universes like steampunk. The overall look and feel and the simplicity of it all is what draws me to them. But I know it'd make no difference, because I'd probably think it was boring it and fantasize over something else if I lived in such a universe. It'd have no appeal to me if I was born there.

I bet this was posted a million times before me but: If the development gap in science between two cultures is too big, science will most likely be seen as magic from the underdevelopped ones.

So - you are always living in a world of science and magic. It just depends on which side you are.

I'd take both anyday!

giant mechanical golems that run on hybrid magic/mechanical fuel power, flying locomotive trains, etc.

We are incapable of making an accurate judgement because we have a narrow perception of what it's like to live in a world of magic. With that said, I care not for deciding on either.

I would chose a world of magic not because I don't like science or that I like magic more,I simply believe it would be more fun and unpredictable.

Science obviously.

I mean seriously, who wants to live in a "eat or get eaten" world? I mean it's not like it's likely that you'll be very powerful or anything. If anything, the majority of you would be mere commoners with next to no magic skill, begging those with such power to spare you.

Magic, but only if magic was actually real, because reality sucks and I like the escapism. Other than that I'll stick with good ole science.

it wouldn't matter which. The magic would be the science we have and vice versa. if magic means waving a wand or blowing fireballs, it would be normal and depending on the influence, will most likely be regulated by other people. society and culture is basically designed differently, but not exactly different.

But I like my lesbian waifu. It would be a platonic relationship. We could both go to clubs as each others' wingman and cruse for chicks.

Magic, science, what's the difference?

@Scud, please change your sig, because every time I see it I end up wanting to cop a feel on my girl again. Today's count: 7

It's the same reason why I don't visit my own tumblr. Sex is such a time sink I never get anything done anymore.

Why not both? If science makes our lives easier through technology and magic makes our lives easier through supernatural powers, why the split?

As someone previously mentioned, the magic of the world will become the science once someone takes things apart and decides to study whatever the hell is going on.

That's some solid advice right there. I've always preferred to be the audience behind the movie screen when it came to relationships though.
There's two kinds of people you can't win an argument against:
One - Too dumb to tell right from wrong.
Two - Too stubborn to admit they are wrong.

QFT.

I'd have to say, though, mathematics and it's relationship with nature itself prevents a lot 'fun' things, I'd say.

(In short, an illogical world is a lot more interesting)

Exactly. Magic can explain everything... Now only if it would actually be real.

"WHO DID THAT?" "IT WAS MY FIREBALL!" "HOW CAN YOU GET FIREBALLS?" "I ASKED ADRANUS FOR THE POWER OF FIRE!" "OH, THAT MAKES SENSE!"

Magic, you don't have to follow the same rules of logic/reason right? falling from a cliff without a parachute may not be any danger, the internet may be obsolete due to a large scale magic library/index. planes? i can fly. walk? i can teleport. injured? sick? i can heal. So, magic unless you are adding more restrictions/rules.... Well, I guess science XXXXX years in the future can do something similar...

so I guess the true answer depends on how you envision each world, what limitations does your magic have, how advanced is your technology?
