Is this possibly the worst Gundam anime ever made?

Every new gundam is the worst one ever till the next one, but real ones know, its hard to be worse than stardust memory.

@kuribo-04 yeah, I can get some complaints even if I think the show is very good right now but when most complaints are about the possibility that two girls are in love it's baffling, especially since gundam and khara studio have either played aroud with characters potentially be LGBTQ and the franchise has never been afraid of putting a not "manly man" in the main role

I don't want to judge it too hard since it isn't finished but we're 4/12 episodes into the show and there doesn't seem to be much of a focus going on. The clan battles don't really feel important, the new types bullshit sucks, and the characters aren't really interesting to me. I watch a movie and 4 episodes and I leave feeling pretty much nothing. Maybe it changes in the next 6 episodes but for now it's looking to be pretty fucking bad.

@kuribo-04 Yuri is almost always fetishized and not some empowering representation… Seems very disingenuous to ignore that and act like its some respectful representation.

I'm not sure what yuri has to do with Gquuuuuux at all since we're 8 episodes in and there's been literally none of it. Unless your definition of yuri extends to 'two girls fighting over a boy'.

It's also kind of dumb to act like the Clan Battles are insignificant when not even half the anime is out and the majority of it is focused on them.
As for this being an extension of UC Gundam... yeah. It is. That's fine.

@DavidArcher In episode 1 there's certainly a moment that seemed to imply something, when Machu falls on top of Nyaan, but yeah, they mostly seem obsessed with Shuuji.

Especially since it was clearly related to the convo you were having. My point was clearly that people can have valid issues with yuri in anime that are not stemmed from homophobia…

@kuribo-04 No… Are you really struggling to understand? You called people who criticized yuri homophobic, i pointed out theres valid reasons to be critical of yuri in anime. You asked what that has to do with this show, and then went on to point out the first episode hinted it would have a yuri relationship(yes, that doesn’t seem to be the case now but that doesn’t really matter in regards to what i was saying but is why it is being talked about). You think 40 something year old otaku anime directors just want to represent lgbt relationships and just so happen to always choose young girls to do so? Nothing im saying is hard to follow.

@kuribo-04 that’s fair, the team working on this show is stacked. Utena i definitely wouldn’t call fetishized or even yuri really, and it had decent amount of women involved if i remember right. I dont love Utena, its good, i mainly just remember it for the awesome stair sequences and music before the fights. I always saw it more about gender roles than lgbt but it had those themes for sure.

My point wasnt even about this show though, beyond that it was supposedly going to have yuri fan service which has been shown to not really be accurate. My point which i said was that shows that are known for yuri in general(there’s outliers) are pervy fan service. So being hesitant or judgemental about this show based on hearing it will have yuri isnt necessarily going to be based on homophobia. Hell that one guy in here basically said he is fine with yuri if it is the pervy stuff and not “woke” aka actual respectful representation.

If you haven't watch the Utena movie. The lgbt themes are more obvious there, it's also just a masterpiece imo.
